Lillian here, delighted to host our Open Link Night session today….
and our dVerse LIVE session, Saturday, May 11th from 10 to 11 AM New York time.
Open Link Night means we invite you to post any one poem of your choosing OR, you may use the optional ekphrastic prompt below.
OPTIONAL PROMPT: The painting below by Frédéric Bazille, titled Black Woman with Peonies is in the public domain. If you choose to be inspired by this painting for your poem today, do be sure to indicate its title and give credit to the artist.
Interested in our LIVE session?
It will be Saturday, May 11th from 10 to 11 AM New York Time.
These live sessions really show our global reach. For example we recently had a session with folks from countries including the US, Australia, Kenya, Pakistan, the UK, Sweden, and Trinidad Tobago. The link below will take you to our LIVE session, complete with audio and video. Folks read one poem aloud (in English) and are always met with positive reactions. We’re a friendly bunch! You can always close the video option and/or mute your microphone if you’d like to drop by just to watch and listen. The more the merrier!

Okay folks! Here we go! Post your poem to Mr. Linky below: either one of your choosing, or one that is inspired by The Young Woman with Peonies. I look forward to reading all your poems and hopefully, seeing many of you on Saturday!
Happy Thursday, dVersers! It’s another make-your-own-sunshine kind of spring day in Boston….but seeing all of you here today will definitely brighten up the day! I have a caterer on hand with lots of goodies – pastries, cakes and sweets….and the bar is open with libations of your choice, alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Your wish is my …. pleasure!
Looking forward to reading many diverse posts today….and hopefully seeing many of you this Saturday!
Good evening all and thank you, Lill, for hosting and for the ekphrastic prompt; I love the painting and enjoyed writing my poem. I’ll try to make it on Saturday, but it’s my husband’s birthday next week and we’re making the best of the sunshine before it disappears on Sunday. A sunny mocktail would be wonderful, please.
Sunny mocktail coming right up! Well, we could always sing happy birthday to your husband if you drop in at the LIVE session for a few moments :) As I always say, we’re a friendly bunch!
Glad you liked the painting. I truly think it’s beautiful! Looking forward to reading your poem.
PS: you’ve got me turned on to ekphrastic poetry! 🙂
Thank you for hosting Lil, as you do so gracefully, so often. Our community is better for it. I am hoping I might be able to join the first thirty minutes Saturday — but at that point I must leave to get Kathy to the airport. 🙂✌🏼🫶🏼
Would LOVE to have you drop by! Just remind me when we first start, that you’ll need to read (if you want to read) in the first 20 minutes or so. HOPE to see you! You always brighten our day. 🙂
Thanks for hosting, Lill!
You’re welcome! One of my favorite things to do! 🙂
❤️
thank you for hosting Lillian- I chose a different flower though.
p.s. am struggling with poor internet connection – so a calming drink is needed please – liquorice and chamomile tea perhaps.
Liquorice and chamomile tea coming right up…..and that sounds so unique I hope you don’t mind sharing the tea pot with me. No problem choosing a different flower….it is open link night after all 🙂
I’ve been busy meeting some poetry heroes of mine this week. Great to be here on DVerse tonight! I could do with a nice long cold beer- if that’s Ok? Xxx
Hah! Cold beer always on tap. Coming right up and….glad to see you here tonight!
Thanks Lillian for both the beer and the welcome! Life has been very busy lately..
Hello Lillian and All. It’s been a whirlwind week and still playing catchup. All set for snacks but a cup of hot peppermint and rooibos tea would be perfect please (with oat milk creamer.)
That tea is coming right up! Good to see you here tonight 🙂
Thanks x 2. Cheers! ❤
Greetings all! Spring may have arrived in Bend Oregon TODAY! To celebrate I would love a Corona with a wedge of lime .. in the bottle please. See you Saturday morning, bright and early here.
Corona with lime wedge – in the bottle – coming right up! So glad you’ll be joining us Saturday morning, Helen! Oregon will be represented 🙂
Hello Lillian! Thanks for hosting 🙂
You’re welcome. It’s one of my favorite things to do!
Okay folks….heading off to dinner and to spend some time with my hubby of 54 years :) Not to worry….I’ve left the key in the usual place…under the plant pot to right of door. Let yourself in and help yourself to a snack and libations. All is ask is two things: 1) you leave a poem on Mr. Linky and 2) replace the key so others can come and go as well.
See you all in the morning! AND hopefully on Saturday at dVerse LIVE!
Happy open link night and and for the optional prompt. See ya all out there on the poetry trail.
LIttle late getting back to the pub…..but happy to see so many additional posts since last night! Good to see you here Truedessa!
Hi Lilian, thank you for hosting! I’ve been absent for awhile due to a demanding day job and am joining right now from a conference in CA just before a dinner where I’ll have to act smart. 😁 Love that I can post an already-written poem, and I have to confess that re-reading it made me cry, LOL. I’ve got a chardonnay at hand but would love some salted nuts to go with.
And – oops! I forgot to add a link to dVerse ’til just now… sorry!
Good to see you Kim! Hope you found the tin of salted nuts on the pub’s counter! Enjoy that California sun!
I did find the nuts and ate all of them, and I’m not even sorry. 😉
I have been away from the pub a lot through April doing the A-Z Challenge and this year, I included a poem with alphabetical poetry form for each post (they were on the subject of Commodities) and so today I am linking to a Glosa on Gasoline and Gold… Hope to catch up with you all on Saturday…
Thanks for hosting Lillian
Good to see you at the pub today! Will be over to read your Glosa in a bit and so good to know you’ll be with us on Saturday when we go LIVE!
Thanks for hosting. I can’t make the live event but I have linked a poem in honor of Mother’s Day. Thanks for all you do to keep poetry alive in the world.
Suitcase in hand, off to the airport.
A poem in honor of Mother’s Day is most appreciated! Safe travels….we’ll miss you on Saturday but do hope you have a good trip!
Thank you for hosting Lillian, looking forward to OLN Live 🙂
Always enjoy hosting, Paul. Will be good to see you Saturday at our LIVE event!
Thank you for the prompt.
Good evening, poets! Better late than never, right? Thanks for hosting OLN, lillian!
WONDERFUL dVerse LIVE session! Thank you everyone who came.
