Hello friends,
Great to have you here and invite you to once again link up any one poem you like. As usual we also provide you with a mini prompt that is totally optional and that you can use in whatever way you like.
As it is Valentine’s day tomorrow I think it is only fair to write again and I will only give you one inspiration for that.
The poem Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy
I really love the way it diverts from the cliche of a rose for Valentine and instead gives her love an onion. For instance like this:
It will blind you with tears
like a lover.
So as an inspiration take an object or a plant (a cacti or a fish for instance) and think about how that object may symbolize affection and maybe even possession which may be part of a love relation. If you prefer to simply use the picture and write an onion poem, please do so, and maybe use one of the quotes below.
“It is hard to imagine a civilization without onions.” ~ Julia Child
“Life is like an onion. You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.” ~ Carl Sandburg
“I will not move my army without onions.” ~ Ulysses S. Grant
But as I said you are free to link up any poem of your liking, the mini prompt is truly optional.
When you are ready with your poem on your blog, post the link directly to your post in Mr. Linky below. Then please comment on the other entries, if you want to take part in the discussion below, please do so and most of all have fun.
This week we also have a live event on Saturday February 15 at 10 AM New York Time.
Just click on the link and I will let you in for the event.

Good evening, the bar is open, fully stocked as usually. Today’s special treat is some homemade grilled cheese sandwiches made from my own sourdough and Gruyere cheese. Your choice of French wine or Columbian coffee to go with that.
Would love to sample your homemade bread!!!!
Greetings from San Diego…..where we’re having to odd few days of rain…but they need it so I can’t complain. Don’t know if I’ll make it to the LIVE session….it’s at 7 AM here. Will try. Will be reading later today….as we’re reading books and enjoying a lazy stay-at-home day.
It sounds wonderful… love it.
Hello Bjorn and All. Am linking up in a minute here. Great optional prompt.
Thank you… a bit of addition to Sanaa’s prompt.
You’re welcome.
Lovely stuff, thanks..recently enjoying cold brew coffee…such a good taste, but I’m afraid I’d have to sit and wait a few hours for it to be ready.
Ha… maybe there is something good in doing things slowly, but please have some bread while waiting.
I threw something disgusting together. Can I take a shower behind the bar?
Of course, but I fear we are out of soap.
Oh dear, I think I’ll leave a stink!
No problem, we have good fans
🤣🤣🤣
Good evening all. I’ve just been taking part in the reading for Sarah to raise money for the hospice she spent her last days in. I’ve linked up, but will be back in the morning to read and comment.
Thank you, and I am glad you can be there at the reading, so sorry to miss it.
It was a lovely but heartbreaking reading.
Hi Björn and all. I’m hungry for some of those potatoes from Kim’s poem now.🤤 I’ll take a refill on my coffee, please.☕️
Potatoes and coffee it is
Hello, good evening all!
Loved the mini prompt, Bjorn! 🩷🩷 I just posted a while ago and made my rounds. I wrote in the morning … and then had no idea I would end up going to the hospital in the evening.
My mother is not well, high blood pressure. I might not be able to attend the Live session .. lets see .. right now I need a lot of prayers and positive thoughts.
Oh. Take care of her and yourself.
Will do, Bjorn! Thank you 🩷
Sadly I will be an apology for OLN Live, hope you all have wonderful time.
We will do the best we can
🙂
hi Bjorn. Just coffee for me. Valentine’s Day for me is my elder son’s birthday, so a different kind of love. Back to read later. ~M
Sometimes the love for son is the best kind of love
Thank you for hosting, Björn. A late link up for me. Like Kim, I was at the reading for Sarah on Thursday.
Your grilled cheese sounds delicious. Perhaps a bit later for lunch–and maybe wine with it and coffee after!
Sandwich and wine all set.
Thank you!
