Hello friends,

Great to have you here and invite you to once again link up any one poem you like. As usual we also provide you with a mini prompt that is totally optional and that you can use in whatever way you like.

As it is Valentine’s day tomorrow I think it is only fair to write again and I will only give you one inspiration for that.

The poem Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy

I really love the way it diverts from the cliche of a rose for Valentine and instead gives her love an onion. For instance like this:

It will blind you with tears
like a lover.

Onions by Hans Heysen

So as an inspiration take an object or a plant (a cacti or a fish for instance) and think about how that object may symbolize affection and maybe even possession which may be part of a love relation. If you prefer to simply use the picture and write an onion poem, please do so, and maybe use one of the quotes below.

“It is hard to imagine a civilization without onions.” ~ Julia Child

“Life is like an onion. You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.” ~ Carl Sandburg

“I will not move my army without onions.” ~ Ulysses S. Grant

But as I said you are free to link up any poem of your liking, the mini prompt is truly optional.

When you are ready with your poem on your blog, post the link directly to your post in Mr. Linky below. Then please comment on the other entries, if you want to take part in the discussion below, please do so and most of all have fun.

This week we also have a live event on Saturday February 15 at 10 AM New York Time.

Just click on the link and I will let you in for the event.
