Lillian here, delighted to be tending the pub tonight. Welcome fellow dVersers and writers from around the globe! Many of you are in the midst of NAPOWRIMO (National Poetry Writing Month), committed to writing a poem every day in April. Many of us are waiting impatiently for spring weather to arrive – Boston’s daffodils have been shivering lately! I’m happy to see all of you here at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets around the globe.
Today is OLN (Open Link Night). That means you’re invited to post one poem of your choosing on Mr. Linky below – no required prompt, length, or form; OR you may post a poem motivated by the photo below.

New to dVerse? Need to be refreshed on the rules? Here’s what to do:
- Write a poem of your choice (no required form, length, or topic) OR write a poem motivated by the photo above.
- Post your ONE poem to your blog AND add the exact URL for your poem to Mr. Linky below.
- REMEMBER to either TAG dVerse in your post, or include a link at the end of your poem that leads readers back to dVerse (https://dversepoets.com).
- If you do not TAG or include a link to dVerse at the end of your post, I will gently remind you to do so. After all, this will increase your readership and comments, and others will find dVerse and hopefully join in the fun. If you do not add the TAG or link after my reminder, I will remove your post from Mr. Linky. I do not want to do that! So please do include the TAG or link!
Hello fellow dVersers and visitors as well! I’m celebrating because Spring has finally arrived in Boston! In honor of spring, I’m serving a delicious lemon and lavender sponge cake topped with strawberies, blackberries, and blueberries. Beverage is up to you: alcoholic and nonalcoholic available!
Am looking forward to reading all your posts today! And here we go!!
Oh… I would love some of your spring cake, perfect even though spring still hesitates a bit here.
Coming right up! Yes —- we have beautiful magnolia trees in full blossom in front of our building….and down the walk, a myriad of bright bright yellow daffodils! LOVE it!
Hi Bjorn,
Do you know if someone without a blog can submit poems for consideration for the Krisis anthology?
Thanks,
Scotti
Hello, the anthology is built around the community here, that is why we want the poems to be published on a blog… if there are any other way to have it published such as bluesky, X or Instagram that can be linked as well. I hope this answers your question.
Thanks!
Hello Lillian, Bjorn, and All. Jumping for joy that it is 65F here in West Michigan. Finally seeing first dandelions. Much further along 50 miles southeast in Grand Rapids on Tuesday. Arnold Palmer on ice in a tall glass, please?
Although I’m not a golf fan, I do make a mean Arnold Palmer!!! Coming right up!
Yes, I was just mentioning to Bjorn, the magnolia trees in front of our building are in full bloom….just beautiful. And we’re in the mid to high 60s so I am finally reveling in this spring weather!!
Good to see you here, my friend.
Awesome on your magnolia tree! Thanks much, Lillian. Cheers!
Oh, Liilian, what an awesome spring cake. I will dream about tasting it….
Meanwhile, I’ve been dreaming about going to my favourite place, Exmoor and have linked a poem about it.
If the bar is open, mine is a Corona Zero!
Corona Zero coming right up. Good to see you here, Kim!
🙂
Oh, your cake sounds spring-luscious, Lillian. Yes, please. I think I need a glass of sparkling rosé with that! I revised a poem for today.
Cake and sparkling rose…..a beautiful combination….coming right up!
I just read your poem and commented…..a hearfelt write that turns my heart inside out.
Thank you, Lill!
I’m bellied up to the bar. How about a bottle of red wine?
Bottle of red wine coming right up – I have a very nice Shiraz tonight!
Good afternoon, poets! Thanks for hosting, lillian. Now, how about that Burgundy? 😉
Coming right up, Frank. Good to see you here tonight!
Thanks for hosting, Lillian! Your cake sounds scrumptious and I’d love a coffee 🙂 – looking forward to reading and commenting!
Cake and coffee coming right up! Nice to see you here tonight!
Time for my dinner and time with my husband so will be vacating the pub until tomorrow morning. HOWEVER, as always, key to the door is under the flower pot to the right of the door. Just let yourself in. Help yourself to some delicious cake and a beverage of your choosing. No tips allowed….all I ask is that you leave a poem at Mr. Linky for me and replace your key on the way out.
See you all in the morning!
Lill
Hi Lillian and all~
I’m late with my response to Merril’s Poetics challenge, so I’m linking it here.
That cake sounds amazing~
It is a delicious cake!
That’s the good thing about OLN: we can use it to catch up on prompts we missed 🙂 Good to see you here, Jennifer.
Thank you, Lillian.
Always happy to tend the pub!
The image spoke to me. I was not sure if those round flowers were marigolds, but they are in my poem.
It’s called poetic license! 🙂 Those ruond flowers can be whatever you want them to be! Glad you like the photo – it’s a favorite of mine!
