Hello friends, tonight it is time for an open link night again with your host Björn from Sweden. As you probably have noticed we have a call for submission to a new anthology which will be out in time for our anniversary in 2026. As I write this we have received submissions from 17 poets, and I know there will be many more of you eager to take part this time, just remember that the deadline for submission is June 30 so do not put it on hold for too long. I cannot promise any trip to the moon this time, but it has happened before.
As this is an open link night you may submit any one poem, but it could be a good opportunity to check if you can write along the theme of krisis or pivotal moment like a crossroad (personal or general). It is really quite an open theme but just to nudge you a bit I will provide a miniprompt you may use to inspire.
I found this mural by Diego Rivera: Man at the Crossroads/Man, Controller of the Universe
Diego Rivera was a Mexican mural painter, today perhaps most well known as the husband of Frida Kalho. I found the mural above with all its complexity appropriate as the theme of the anthology, both in the way it puts (wo)man in the center, both as the cause and the solution to our problem. It also touches on the problem of complexity where the solution to one problem may very well cause something else to get worse.
But as it is OLN, any one poem is welcome, and I hope you know the drill, post a poem to your blog, link back to dVerse, add it to Mr Linky below then read and comment, use it as an opportunity to learn and expand your views.
Happy poeming
Hello, and welcome. I have the bar stocked here… tomorrow we have a public holiday here in Sweden so we are ready to party with umbrella-drinks or something fizzy.
Hello Bjorn and All. How about one of those umbrella-drinks with fizzy please? Have fun at your holiday celebration tomorrow.
I will… we will have guests tomorrow and it will be so much fun,
Hi Bjorn and all!
It’s nice and windy here. I will have a non-alcoholic strawberry rhubarb cocktail please 🍓
I chose to write to the mini-prompt 😀 and am submitting for dVerse Anthology 🩷🩷
I think it is perfect for the miniprompt…. loved it.
and your drink is coming up… stirred rather than shaken.
Thank you so much! Just emailed it 🥰🥰
Thanks Björn…well, I completed my first entry and decided to save it just for the anthology if it is accepted, and do another for tonight. Murals can be very effective…better than graffiti…had a stout already so am searching for offee. In Ukraine ahd one with a dash of pomegranate juice and orange as well….was actually good…heard of with lemon too, black pepper…
That sounds delicious for a night like this, and I look forward to your entry both to the antology and to the prompt today….
God evening all, and thanks for hosting, Björn; enjoy your festivities. I’m still recovering from the devastating news about our beloved cat Mojo, who seems quite healthy considering she’s had surgery, but the vet has given us 1 – 4 months with her as she has oral cancer. I’ve been finding it hard to write. But I have linked up a poem. A coffee with Baileys would be most welcome, please.
So sorry for your cat, and if a cup of cofee with Baileys soothes I will bring it…
Thank you, Björn.
Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your dear Mojo. I know so well the devastation of losing a beloved pet or human loved one. I find writing about it is often the best response. It doesn’t cancel the pain, but it does give an excuse to fully feel our feelings and celebrate our memories.
Thank you very much, Judy. I agree that writing about loss is very useful.
Kim, I’m so very sorry to read about Mojo. It is so hard. I know how much he means to you. Sending hugs.💙
Thank you, Merril. At the moment she seems OK, but is hiding away most of the day.
You’re welcome, Kim.
Sending good thoughts to you both. xx
Hello Björn and others.
Thanks for hosting. An umbrella drink for me too, please.
I have one here, and pink is the perfect color I think.
Perfect! Thanks a lot.
I’ll have a pomegranate and lime mocktail, please. Enjoy your holiday, Bjorn!
Of course ´,,, coming up (and I will add the umbrella to make it festive)
Perfect! Thank you~
I needed an umbrella for the unseasonal rain we had today. But I don’t need one with my drink, for sure. Have had my fill already so onto poetry.
Umbrellas are unfortunatelly a bit small…. we already need rain up here
It’s raining right now, and I could use some Kahlua and coffee!
Excuse (or not) the dark humor in my poem……
Dark is good and easier to handle in summer
this is a good theme –
I’d love a cool umbrella drink! I have been contemplating submitting a couple of poems. I guess I better get to it! I will be back in a bit with a poem.
I hope you enjoyed the drink 🙂
that mural has so many details and it is such a good prompt for the krisis/crossroads theme
Thanks, when I saw it I liked the idea…
;0)
Hey, Björn, thanks for hosting. I’ll take something cold, fizzy and sweet.
Fizzy and sweet sounds perfect… and with plenty of ice.
Ready to party with a non-alcoholic tequila sunrise like wot Lilian served to Kim last week. Thanks for hosting, Bjorn, and all the deft fingertapping that involves.
Great mural – I only heard about Diego Rivera last year, when I watched a fascinating TV series about Frieda. Just the thing to do if it gets Too ‘Ot outside… have a good holiday weekend!
Diego was as fascinating in his ways as Frida.
He was more famous at the time than she was. (Though I like her work better.) We’ve seen some exhibitions of both of their work.
Thanks for all you do, Björn, to create a writing community. I’ve tried to find any record of what I submitted to Krisis and can’t find any notation on my overstuffed computer. If this poem would serve better than any of the ones I submitted, I can submit it. Also, the photo, but I need directions on size and d.p.i. and whether color or black and white.
We can handle any such changes when go into editing mood.
Thank you for hosting Bjorn, I hope you enjoy the public holiday 🙂
Now it is coming to an end, but we had a nice party in the house.
How wonderful 🙂
Thank you for hosting, Björn. I hope you are enjoying the holiday! It’s very hot and humid here, so a fizzy umbrella drink would be perfect!
Today is the anniversary of D-Day, so I’ve written one about that. Maybe not one for the anthology.
June 6 is also the Swedish National Day.
Thanks a lot for hosting, Bjorn.
Happy to get a chance to share my poem. Hope it can be considered for the anthology.
I am sure it will… just mail it in.
