Hi everyone! Grace here hosting Open Link Night, which serves as an opportunity for us to link ONE poem of our choice for our reading pleasure. For those who missed the Mr Linky deadline the past week or this Tuesday’s poetics, this is also your opportunity to share your poem. We would appreciate those linking up to include a link to dVerse as a courtesy.
There is no specific form or theme required for OLN but if you are looking for a little inspiration, here is an optional mini prompt:
The Sleeping Gypsy by Michele Wolf
In the heat of her dream, she hears
The iron kettle boiling, its scuttle and hum
As hurried as hoofbeats across a plain.
Read the full poem here.
The writing challenge:
1. Use the image above as a muse for your poem. Write an ekphrastic poem.
2. Or use the title of the image as a title or part of your poem: The Sleeping Gypsy

Hi Grace and all~ great image choice, Grace. I’ve written to it before (a long time ago!). I didn’t use it this time, though. Since you asked about beverages, a cup of rooibos tea, for me, please.
Hi Jennifer. A cup of rooibos tea for you. Love your poem.
Thank you!
Such a great painting thanks Grace 💕

What a treat to see your optional prompt! The painting is well known of course, but that delightful poem was new to me, and I love it so. Perhaps I’ll find a moment to write to it; maybe I’ll link something else. It’s a mellow day in Spring here, so I’ll opt for a lemon, lime and bitters, please, while I ponder.
Hi Rosemary! Thanks for your visit. How I envy your mellow spring season. Here’s to a lemon, lime and bitters! Cheers!
Good Evening – I just posted a short poem to the optional challenge. I will be back tomorrow to read.
