Welcome wonderful word wizards!
The doors are open for Open Link Night at the pub. Mish here as your host. This is an opportunity to link up ONE poem of your choice for our reading pleasure. Olidon Redon (1840-1916) was a Symbolist printmaker and painter. His was described as dreamlike, eclectic and a precursor to surrealism. The stories and poems of Edgar Allen Poe became a source of inspiration for some of Redon’s art. This reminded me of how visual art can blossom from literature. We tend to focus on the opposite flow of mediums, as we write ekphrasis.
Redon began using charcoal and lithography but later transitioned to pastels and oil in the 1890’s. His creations were often a reflection of his emotions, mystical concepts and vivid imagination rather than the reality of the external world. I found it interesting that he produced multiple compositions titled “Spring” (or Le Printemps). In the spirit of the season, here are two pieces you may consider to spark your muse.
