Brian Miller, now go read some poems and stop reading the fine print, OpenLinkNight, poetry sharing, Poets, publove
What’s that?
Great question, and if you are just stumbling upon us you are in for a treat. Not because of anything we do but because of you. OpenLinkNight is the poets willing to lay their hearts to the pen, the wind that blows through the doors every week at 3 pm EST and whips into a whirlwind of verse for 33 hours.
It is reading one more poem, when your eyes are already burning. Smiles.
See, OpenLinkNight is all about you. It is about the poets that make this a special place by talking back in the comments, by visiting each other. By interacting.
Interaction is where the magic happens.
I want to take a moment to say thank you and give a little #Publove to all my poet~friends that invest in this community as pub tenders. They do a great job every time we open the doors encouraging that interaction.
Recently we had Mark Kerstetter and Sheila Moore step away to pursue other passions. Each of them left a mark on the walls of this place that will last with their stellar performance.
We also have a few new pub tenders that are joining us. Charles Miller and Sam Peralta have recently come on board to assist in Meeting the Bar and FormForAll respectively. They are each great additions to our team.
Over the next couple weeks we will be bringing on a few others to enhance our Poetics team as well. If you are interested in helping around the pub, providing prompts or doing a guest slot, let one of us know.
We grow. We change. But at the heart, it’s poetry & people. Thank you all for making this a very special place. Now lets get this party started.
If you are new to the pub, here’s how it works:
- Post a poem on any topic to your blog,
- Link in the poem you’d like to share (1 per blog, please) by clicking on the Mr.Linky button just below.
- This opens a new screen where you’ll enter your information, and where you also choose links to read. Once you have pasted your poem’s blog url and entered your name, simply click submit.
- Don’t forget to let your readers know where you’re linking up and encourage them to participate by including a link to dVerse in your blog post.
- Visit as many other poems as you like, commenting as you see fit.
- Remember, we’re here for each other. Engage your fellow poets, talk, chat, comment, let them know their work is being read, and enjoy the input you also will receive. Feel free to tweet and share on the social media of your choice.
- Finally, enjoy–have fun.
See you out on the trail… ~Brian

I think I got hooked on Triolets from last Thursday’s FormForAll – I had to write another one today that is my poem for Open Link Night! I love the creativity that just seems to abound around here so much that it rubs off on whoever visits, including me!
Oh, and can I get a root beer? Preferably Thomas Kemper if you have it. And some potato chips? Thanks! Peace, Linda

Thanks for hosting this week Brian. My photo prompt has inspired me to return to the rhyming couplets of Pope & Swift. I’ve used their favoured form, but not their satire. Hope readers enjoy the photo and my poem.

This is the nicest pub I know – a place to educate and entertain and express ourselves as best we can – where we always meet our best friends.
The poem I’ve posted is one which I have put the most angst and effort into in a very long time. I hope you like iot.

You could definitely see the effort and craft and love that went into it, viv, Enjoyed it much–thanks for sharing it with us.

Hiya!
Good to be here…had the “House Guest From Hell” this weekend, and need to be around poets….LOL! Clean out the tubes as it were…
Offering two poems from last year this time: “Two Poems in Honor of Japan”…..
Also, this weekend (the only good thing that happened! LOL!) I was asked to be the American Editor of a poetry Journal in the Near East. I will be trolling for poems as I learn more about the themes of this prestigious journal. So…..I can’t think of a better group of poets to beg from.
Thanks, and so good to be here.
Lady Nyo
brian miller said:
jane i am so excited for you in this….looked up the journal after your email as well…we wont make you beg too hard…smiles.
ladynyo said:
Well, Brian, I am trying to get my head around this offer. It’s something I have little experience in, and the poet who offered it is a fine, international poet, who is trying to keep my nose to the grindstone. LOL!
We will see….
Later, Alligator.
hedgewitch said:
Loved your poems from last year, Jane–somber yet with that spirit of a people determined to survive, but was glad to see more of your novel up also. Congrats on the new endeavors.
ladynyo said:
Hedgewitch!
Thank you so much for continuing to read “Tin Hinan” on my blog. The real drama comes with Chapter Two where she does something so culturally extreme that is it controversial, even today. I wrote this novel with a lot of research with LIVING Berbers….some from Morocco, and others from Algeria, trying to get as close as I could to the culture. Funny, some things just don’t change.
They speak across the centuries to us. Berber poetry was in the realm of the tribal women, and I will attempt later, apart from this novel, to post some of it for d’verse readers. Berbers all love poetry. They are like the Persians in this.

sheesh I hate when that happens … it’s probably my fault but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the heck makes it go like that … I mean, the reply flips up before I’m ready so you get some nonsensesical (sp?) bit of crud – oh hell, nevahmind, as the great Gilda Radner used to say … enough whining … glad to see you being tender of the bar and the night … should be a good one … after being reminded of sweet Sara T last night, I ended up posting an older poem featuring her and a couple of other ladies who departed too soon … it’s on this blog …

And to newcomers, this is a warm and friendly place. We’re here to encourage, support and help you with anything we can do for you. I have been hanging out with these folks for a while and I assure you can trust them all!
It’s always good to stop in to the pub. I’m drinking what you’re serving tonight. No post from me. I am spending my time spending money on house repairs, and other expensive endeavors. Hope to get back to some sort of normalcy soon.

waterfalls of tears and smiles, landing on sweet cheeks and in tepid hearts
imaginary rides on broken wheels and mystical wings
each gift a visit away from here
arriving there
and always knowing the sincerity is there

where as a stream of consciousness is more like…

Saucy Mistresses…Happy Birthday Mr. Springer…Weddings … Crashed!………….
and another car gets sold as the tuned in crowd of disciplined disciples ignore the clock and race toward a fate of their own design as one more baby misses dinner and one more bullet isn’t dodged and one more bleeding heart cries foul for the future’s sake as if the digitized imagery hasn’t served us well or the pathos played upon wasn’t egg-shell thin enough to reveal the shallow layer of the morbid majority that accepts the shit without ever admitting that they started this shit and HEY it’s a party and that they created the monster that WE ALL HAVE TO FEED regardless of our own personal dietary choices or the MONSTER will come and feast on the fetid fools as the Mercedes in the background slithers away before the few sold survivors race to RaceTrack for another Sex Pack so they can Kick Back and become some more Slack in the Rope that is waiting to hang those who choose to set the record straight for Nielsen one time too many
