We woke up this morning & the mountains were still pebbled
like cookies & cream ice cream, snow between the trees — & grey clouds
threatening rain

my wife, sons, mom & dad — we layered up,
went downtown & walked/ran….ok we ambled…4 miles in an event
to raise money for the rescue mission. My youngest held my hand most
of the way

on each corner there were bands,
the bagpipes & drums were my favorite, but the old man
reciting olde english christmas tunes was a close second & he was not quite
singing

Today, here in the States, it is Thanksgiving — a time year we gather
with loved ones & eat too much, watch football, (or in some cases stand in line
for sales that start at midnite — if you buy in to the commercialism)

& hopefully somewhere in there, we make time to be Thankful for everything
that we have been given. Thankfulness is a a healthy habit. Too often we can focus
on what we don’t have. Thankfulness can be humbling.

Today, I want us to write about what we are thankful for.

Be creative with it. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Write a letter poem of thankfulness to someone.
2. Write a collage poem, capturing small moments strung together by the ribbon of thankfulness
3. Write a list poem, of all the things you are thankful for.

If you are new here, let me help you out:

  • Write a poem and post it on your webpage or blog

  • Visit others – let them know what you like about their poem

If you are in the States, have a great Thanksgiving. If you are not, thank you for joining in the spirit of our holiday. Have a great day all!  ~Brian
