How have you been?
Do anything fun over the break?
I did this hot wing challenge with my nephew. Definitely the hottest thing I ever ate—it made my face go numb. and my tongue. for about 8 minutes. I was a mess. Lol.
So, we are back & bringing the world of poetry to life again. Tomorrow, Grace has a great art prompt for us. Thursday Bjorn will challenge us with…
Sorry, got distracted there.
We will have a couple new faces joining the team to start the year. Beth and Laurie will both be stepping away from our Monday Pretzel team. They both did a great job with that—much love. Claudia and I are looking for /talking to a few poets and will announce that once we get them.
What’s new in your world?
dVerse is back, all’s right with the world. I hope you are rested and enjoyed the holidays!
it was good to get away for a bit…
helps keep the sanity you know…
Oh, I do know! I am very good, now, about taking time off.
Margo: I echo your words! 2015 is well now and improving!
Godt nyttår!
¡Feliz año nuevo!
Happy new year, and welcome back. The world of poetry prompts has lost two sites this week, Creative Bloomings and Red Wolf Poems, and we are all the poorer for the loss. Roll on your next prompt!
Oh yes .. I hope you will enjoy what’s in store here. 🙂 I’ll do my very best on Thursday.
oh that is sad…
it is hard…and i wont say we have not had the discussions about how long we are sustainable…it is tiring work to run a site….
I know it is, Brian. I hope you find it less taxing now that your class is over. That on top of work and family AND running a site, had to be tough. You were SO MISSED. But I was happy you were taking a break. We took one too at PU. Much needed, but I was so glad to get back in the saddle!
Yay, we are back in business ~ Thanks to Beth and Laurie for all the work during the past years ~ Looking forward to seeing new faces with the team, and hosting poetics tomorrow ~
I discovered BBC Sherlock and watched all 3 seasons in two days ~ Love it and can’t wait for season 4 in 2016 ~ Brian, I can’t last that long with that kind of challenge ~
Have a good day everyone ~
Oh yes the BBC Sherlock is an exciting one.. we rewatched all the 3 lord of the rings in extended version…
nice…i have seen it…but never watched…i am intrigued by it…we did watch the premeire of downton abbey last night…ha….the actor from sherlock is going to be in one of the next superhero movies… dr. strange…
I have watched a few episodes and enjoyed them too.
Grace, I love that show :)!
Happy New Year!! It’ll be good to have some poetry prompts again. I always enjoy the art-themed ones…oh heck, I enjoy MOST of the prompts!! Hope you had a great break! Thanks Beth and Laurie for all your work, and best wishes in whatever you find to do next!
Hope we can challenge as well.. hmm I will start out easy I think..
You’re welcome… and thank you!
you will like grace’s prompt then….
hey did you get my email?
I’ve been busy building a writer’s retreat, back in the woods behind my house. About 200 square feet of privacy, windows all around. I’m putting on the finishing touches now, searching for my writing table, and choosing trim. Battery power and propane heat, simple and comfortable. This is something I’ve wanted to do practically all my life, and having adopted the philosophy of “If not now, when?” I have finally done it.
Sorry, just had to brag a bit. I’m all smiles over it.
What a great way tp have a sanctuary for writing.. you have to show pictures..
I will, when it’s ready to show. It’s simple, built using off-the-shelf materials and as economically as possible, doing almost all the work myself. It’s literally in the forest, with trees within inches on all sides. Something I’ve wanted to do for years.
that sounds very cool…
Ithink I’d brag too.
you are SO LUCKY!!!!!!!
Happy New Year! So glad you are back; your break was much-needed and well deserved.
hey you…did you have a good holiday?
Happy New Year everyone. I’ve been struggling to write anything over the holidays, hoping that a dVerse prompt can get me back on track. Hope you all had a wonderful break and I can’t wait to read all the new poetry here.
i didn’t write a single poem during the holiday break and only discovered today how much i missed the words…
I’ve missed them too. 🙂
i took a total break myself….i jotted a few ideas here or there…but have written nothing in 2 weeks…having a graduate class helped that too…as i wrote well over 50 pages of papers by the end of the break…ha
That’s a ton of work Brian . . . think I’d need a permanent break with all that you do. 🙂
Happy New Year everyone! I am so glad to see everyone back and hope you all enjoyed your holidays!
for the most part, yes…ha…
i am glad that class is behind me….
was great to spend time with family….
Happy new Year! Hope to find a new source for inspiration…Great to hear from you, d’Verse x
happy new year! def the inspiration will be nice to get the juices flowing again….
Happy new year everyone.. I have looked forward to this a long time.. and hope many join us this week .. and many thanks to Beth and Laurie for their time at dVerse.. I have been writing a lot during the vacation.. have to exercise my haiku-muscles…
Now we finally have some lakes with great ice on them .. and tomorrow being the last day of christmas holidays I hope that we can get out and fly over that clear mirror of real lake ice.
oh wow – that sounds awesome…
It is.. we use special types of skates that we attach to ski-boots.. so it’s usually easy to go far and wide.. When it freezes in the closest lake we usually take a round trip of about 15 km in the morning 🙂
I appreciate it, Bjorn.
it is freezing here….but no ice…no snow yet….i am looking forward to some white stuff here soon enough….end of january and february we should start seeing some…..
Bjorn I did notice that you were still writing during the holidays . . . I did pop by and read some of them but didn’t have time to comment. You’re rocking it . . . I’m sat here with pen poised but just can’t find the words.
Happy New Year to all… time to get back into the swing of things and the old routines! I love spicy, but it sounds like that was quite the challenge, Brian!
Looking forward to all the talent and friendship sure to come from dVerse in the year ahead.
ha. it was the hottest thing i ever ate…
the disclosure i had to sign was pretty funny…and based on actual experiences so they were covered…oh my…it was hot…like i have never known…lol
good to see you kelly
Happy new year, y’all! woot woot… Thank you to Beth and Laurie for rocking pretzels… I’ve been writing like crazy over the past few weeks… spoken word has been the main focus lately… has me steppin up my game…
yeah – big thanks to beth and laurie – you both did an excellent job and we will miss you!!
Thank you both. = )
nice….very cool anthony…def love my spoken word, so look forward to seeing what you came up with….are you performing anywhere?
not yet… Will make that happen this year tho… smiles. You ever performed any?
oh yeah…i perform quite often actually….at open mics…have done a slam or two…they are fun….
Thanks so much.
haha… the hot wing challenge sounds quite challenging indeed.. smiles
happy new year everyone… i enjoyed the break but it feels good to put pen to paper again… looking forward to grace’s and björn’s prompts this week…

Hope you enjoyed your special day Claudia, smiles ~
smiles….happy birthday claudia….
wait, you have to wash the dishes from your own party? that does not seem right…..smiles.
Happy New Year everyone. Brian I had such visuals of you in the ‘fire’ challenge! Happy belated birthday Claudia. 😊 glad everyone had returned to the fold. I shall try and make more of an effort this year! A thank you to Beth & Laurie for their hard work and to all those at Dverse who have returned after a much needed break.
my boys thought i came up with a new superpower after the wing challenge…lol….
good to see you maam….how was your holiday? a bit quieter i hope….
Welcome back. I played with my grandchildren. Had tons of fun. Not sure when I’ll be writing. Am dealing with some family health issues and trying to be helpful. Will be popping in and out, blog when I can. I’m so glad you’re back.
sounds like fun indeed myrna…we def had our fill of cousins over the break…ha…back to two kids…which is about all i can handle at home…..smiles.
Greetings everyone… hoping you all had a wonderful christmas/new years break. I did all the family chaos for christmas day & boxing day… my adult offspring gave me a day & night ticket to Woodford Folk Festival (The festival runs for 6 days & nights!) and I had a most amazing time.
Peace Love & Blessings
what a cool trip….when is the festival?
I thought I left a long newsy comment? 😦
Well… heres the short version….
Greetings all…. peace love & inspiration.
huh. i will check the filter and see if it got stuck….
peace love & inspiration back at you….smiles.
Nice to be back after the New Year! Looking forward to interacting with everyone again & reading some good writing!
yes, yes it is….happy new year mary!
and to you, Brian.
It is nice to be back and writing, even though I enjoyed the break too. Happy New Year to all of you!
Taking my lead from B & C, I have written nary a word for 2 weeks, hosted the complete extended family at our place for Christmas & some still left of New Years; following up with a nice several hour visit with some of my old Actor friends, from CA & Seattle; non-stop memories & war stories; my poor wife, who did not know me when I acted for a living in the 70’s, got kind of bored with the zaniness. Add my congrats & gratitude for the fine studious affectionate work done at the Pub by Beth & Laurie over this last year+,; Laurie’s interviews of dVerse poets were especially interesting; though my fave was the one she did on me. Getting the band back together is just what this old poet needs before lethargy sets in. Looking forward to Grace’s Art challenge tomorrow. I get the feeling that 2015 will be a boffo rewarding year for we Pub crawlers at dVerse; boy, howdy; getting pumped for this week!
good to hear from you g…and glad you got a break…popped in to your place yesterday…and left you a msg…if you have not checked it….
Hi everyone! I’m honored to have contributed to this outstanding effort and really appreciate all of the gratitude expressed. What a fantastic and enriching experience, This team is amazing. I also want to thank Laurie and wish her all the best.
Brian, Claudia, much love. 🙂
back at you beth….your contributions are much appreciated…
and i def learned much from you….
I had peanut butter and gruyere cheese at the same time.
i will occassionally have peanut butter and pimento cheese at the same time…
you are a daring fellow 🙂
That sounds like a waste of great cheese… hmm maybe it’s just me.
Thanks to Laurie & Beth, happy birthday to Claudia, and blessings in the new year to all of you…good to take a break and looking forward to new prompts!
What’s new? About 4-6 inches of snow blowing across the plains here. Below zero wind chills…even our husky paws at farm shop door to be allowed back inside. I’ve been enjoying a new CD of solo piano music by David Nevue, and rearranged living room after taking down the Christmas decorations 🙂 No thanks to the hot wings…
ah, but we only live once…
Glad to see you all! 😀
We are in the cold and snow, but cozy in our house (no more 5th wheel!) and enjoying life.
Looking forward to getting back into the poetic saddle! 🙂
i bet it feels great to be a little more settled….
It sure does! 🙂
Happy new year. 🙂
welcome back, all. I got a vial of habanero in front of me, had it in my soup. your son sounds like a chip off the old block, Brian. kudos to Beth and Laurie for fine work ~
I’ve missed you, quiet, but both hands full….the sunrises have been incredible!
Happy New Year, everyone. I’m looking forward to a fresh, new year of dVerse! Thanks to all of you who make this such a special place.
Happy New Year to everyone too..! and i’m just doing the same thing never the same as usual.. again..;)
The same thing is never the same. Well said! Cheers!
Happy New Year! I had a great and relaxing time in Norway during the holidays. I got to see an aurora boreal on Christmas Eve (I put some photos at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxW8tvmRPm8). I wish you all lots of success and lots of challenges (to keep motivated). May this be a great writing year for all of us!
Happy New Year Everyone! I am so glad to see the pub open again. Thank you Laurie and Beth for all you have done here at dVerse.
Happy New Year! I have been checking in regularly, gently rattling the pub doors but waiting patiently for the fun to begin again. Christmas and New Years at my house are quiet (small family) but some amazing moments transpired.
Looking forward to reading more works of art and being inspired by the team!
Thank you Beth and Laurie. 🙂
Great to have you back. I have missed my poetic moments. Christmas was not as relaxing as it might have been because of an infected tooth. And I am pondering the symbolism of that one. Luckily it was better that it happened in Australia and not Malawi so one must be grateful about timing. Otherwise, family, friends, fun is always good.
