Welcome poets!
This is Michelle Beauchamp (Mish), your host for Open Link Night in the pub. It’s that time again to share ONE poem for our reading pleasure. There is no specific theme, however if you wish to, you can respond to a prompt you may have missed such as Tuesday’s Poetics – Literary Alchemy with Laurie Lee
**This will be our last prompt before taking a two week summer break. Take this time to find your muse again or just let your muse take a bit of a breather. Muses get tired too. We will return on Monday, July 15th to celebrate our 8th anniversary! **
Speaking of taking a breath, I stumbled upon this amazing young poet by the name of Solli Raphael. I leave you with his encore performance from the 2017 Australian Poetry Slam at the Sydney Opera House. Enjoy!

Hi Mish and All. Solli Raphael is God’s mouthpiece here, plain as the sun shining today. What else does God have to do to make us listen AND ACT? I’m working on another quatrain and am down to the last stanza. It will be good for a couple-week break to get out there and breathe in some of that good stuff. See you all on the flip side!
I completely agree, Jade. Plain as the sun shining indeed!
What an amazing young poet… and what a great way to go on a break as well.
He is definitely talented. I can only imagine the way his poetry will evolve further. He speaks beyond his years.

Thanks, Mish, for being our last host for year 7 of the dVPP. I think I’ve been hanging around for 5 of those years. I had to sweat blood for my OLN posting tonight. I have to create my BLACKKTHORNE entries the day before. I don’t have time to write them before OLN opens. I was 3+ hours into it yesterday when we had a big storm. Bam, we had a power outage, and I lost my two-page document. After cursing the storm, I started over, and BAM, another plower outage. Long story/short , we had 4 power outages in an hour–and I just had to give up. But I awoke at 5:30am and got back to starting over for the fifth time. My wiife got up at 7am, and informed me that I had lost my mind.Regardless, I finished, and posted Episode 97.
I enjoyed your tale even more when I understood all your struggle… and so glad to read your Blackthorn entries Glenn.
Glenn, can’t imagine the frustration you must have been going through after so many restarts. Ugh! Glad you didn’t give up because this BLACKTHORNE entry was worth the “sweat blood” you gave for it.
Hey Glenn! So glad you persisted and didn’t give up. As far as you losing your mind, I think I would have after the first outage. Thanks for not giving up. Can’t wait to read.
Hello everyone. Today, am sharing a poem about the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. How far we have to go, before true acceptance Is reached. Have previously shared this, on Poets United’s Poetry Pantry.
Ok, the first entry was a typo, can it please be deleted? Thanks, in advance.
So glad to read your important poem again, and I have deleted your first link.
Thank you Therisa, Oh God, Thak you for this poem.
Thank you for hosting, Mish–and for sharing the video of that amazing young poet.
I may not get anything up till the morning. 🙂
No worries, Merril. Glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂
Hi Mish! Enjoyed the video…Solli is an amazing poet and presenter! This break is timed perfectly as we will be traveling to my niece’s wedding. See you all on the trail later…
Thanks for joining in, Lynn. 🙂
My pleasure!

Afternoon, poets! Thanks, Mish, for holding down OLN today! It’s the first day of Summer vacation ’19 for me, and a chance to continue the Smuggs ’14 Chronicle! See you all on the trail! 🙂
Happy vacation, Frank!! 🙂
Thank you! 😀
Muses DO get tired indeed!! My muse went on virtual strike for a few months, but I finally feel like I have the motivation/energy to write again…but maybe at a slower pace than before. Enjoy the break and see you in a few weeks!
SOOO glad to see you again, Bryan. I’ve missed your writing. Thanks so much for joining in.
Thanks Mish, this kid is deeply profound and totally gifted, easy to see why he won!
Gives me faith that Australians may listen and change …
It gives me faith in the youth of the world….and to see their ideas expressed through poetry is hopeful too! Thanks for joining in, Kate.
wow thank You for responding to my comment here, it’s rare!
I’ve been playing with something based on the idea of tripwires– those invisible traps into which we all fall, but it’s not coming together, so I’m not comfortable sharing yet. Here’s a favorite from my archive: https://xanhaiku.wordpress.com/2019/04/16/chapel/
Wonderful. Did you wish to add this one to the list on Mr.Linky to make it more visible? Some do not drop into the pub to chat.

Mish, Thank you. No one seems to have asked for anything to drink. But can I just have some water… lots and lots of water. I did a two-fer, and they both need water. 🙂
will work through the trail all during the break. looks like some good stuff again.
Happy OLN everybody and thank you for hosting and sharing Solli Raphael’s amazing poem here Mish! We took an early break in May and wish those of you taking time off now a wonderful Summer Break. I’m linking another haibun from the Assynt series and will swing by later to read xxx
H Mish and fellow poets! I apologise for my lateness to the final Open Link Night before the break and for my general absence recently, but I am slowly coming to the end of my seasonal exam marking and will be ready to write new poetry on 15th July. I’ve missed you all, the writing and the prompts.
Thank you for sharing the video. Wow. This young man’s voice is such an inspiration.
Hi Mish! Thanks for hosting this open link. I am slow outta the gate here, but I am sharing a pair of Stormy Eyes.
Damn Solli, if only the adults on this planet were as smart as you dude! Wisdom beyond your ages, and don’t ever lose that passion. RIGHT ON!!! :-). In honor of that splendid young person, for my OLN the piece of mine I should have posted is this:
A Smidgen of Thought
