Greetings, passionate poemers! De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) here. I’ve been a bit of a bum these past few months, as far as poeming goes, so today I’d like us to take that word and babble on a bit about our bums. Boast about our bummers. Blast through the boring bumf.
Remember, the Quadrille is that pithy little creation of our own making: simply a poem of exactly 44 words, including one specific word provided. So be a beach bum. Bum a cigarette. Bum us out or have us bursting out laughing in wonder at your best bumbling of the word: Bummer. Bummed. Bumbershoot. Bumming. Bumptious. Bumpkin. Bumboat.
Tut tut, it looks like it’s about to be raining poems…
Get off your bum and brandish us a poem of exactly 44 words (not including the title), and be sure to blast in some form of the word bum. Bum-rush a rhyme. Go wild with hyphens. Have fun with sound bump. Just be sure to buzz us your best bum poem, and share it here!
Anybody else old enough to remember the Bummers page of Dynamite Magazine?
New to the Q? No need to be bumfuzzled! Here’s what to do:
Just write a poem of precisely 44 words, including some form of the word bum. Link it up by clicking Mr. Linky below. Then bum a ride about the blogisphere, where you’re sure to bump into some of the most talented bards around. No time to write and post today? Don’t be too bummed: the Quadrille is an at-the-Pub-all-week sort of band, so remember to come back and read (and write!) some more!
Helloooo, poeming bums! The bar is now open, and accepting all poems about thine backside, the bummer that has been 2020, colorful umbrellas in England, or any other way you choose to twist and play with this fun word.
I’m pouring drinkies. Who’s in?
Maybe Bum Juice tonight https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bum%20Juice
Ha! You rock! I was trying to find a fun and funny drink. YES! Perfecto!
First time hearing of Bum Juice. I thought MD2020 hit the bottom of the barrel. Guess not!
Hello… this word will lead to a lot of funny poems I hope… at least that’s the approach I choose.
Love that, B. I figured we could all use a little levity today. 🙂
Yes we need to have fun I think
Good Monday evening
Happy to bum around here today
Much💝love
Happy to have you, Gillena!
Hello De and All. The weather is perfect for bumming around the yard. I even took a walk down to the corner after getting the mail this morning. I love the prompt and had some fun with it. A pint of Magners please, De!
You got it, Lisa! Cheers!
Jealous of your fine weather. Southern Nevada is not only dealing with extreme heat, but also smoke pollution from nearby California and Arizona fires. Praying for all families and firefighters, of course, but selfishly, I miss being outside.
Cheers! Sorry to hear about Southern Nevada and California and Arizona fires, a good drenching is needed by all it sounds like.
Hello dVerse poets! Thank you, De for the fun prompt. Plain water for me, please, as I’m back on the Mosley diabetic diet and I have to be strict this time. I’m not sure I like the sound of Bum Juice. I agree with Björn that the prompt word should result in some funny poems – I tried to keep my bum light. 😊
I agree, Kim. Bum juice sounds like a bummer of a mega-hangover waiting to happen! I loved your fun poem! So happy you’re here!
That Carl Sandburg quote is, sadly, quite relatable, especially these days. Looking forward to trying this.
Oh, man. For me, too. Glad you’re here!
Thank you for hosting us today, De! ❤️ Going to make my rounds in a few minutes 🙂
Hi, Sanaa! So happy you’re here!
Would never miss the Q 😉
Good evening. Such a fun word. I went a bit bananas with an alliteration filled with bum. 😄
Oh, I can’t wait! Heading over soon!
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm !!
LOLOLOLOLOLOL. 😉
This was way too fun to pass on.
It would have been a bummer to not
Do one … 😉
Na’ama
Right? Who can resist a good bum? 😉
Ha!
Thanks for hosting an interesting word to play around with tonight. See you out there on or off the track.
Glad you’re here!
Bums the word! ♪
Well, now THERE’S the blogpost title I was searching for! Love it! 😉
❤
This one was great fun De, thank you! 🙂 It took me to a reflective place.
Glad you like it, Rob. Always happy to see you here.
Hello everyone. Am I the only one who came up with 4 different poems.? LOL. Who knew such a small word like “bum” could get my creative juices going. I’m sharing one of them (the first one I wrote) this evening.
Love it, Arcadia! And don’t forget the Quadrille is a prompt where you can share more than one poem! 🙂
This one was great fun De, thank you! 🙂 It took me to a reflective place.
So happy! 🙂
we definitely should bum around because this year is a bummer! Thank you for this, De!
Yes, let’s bum around together! Virtually, at least!
yes!!!!
a great prompt De – thanks – looking forward to a nice sit down and read later today.
Happy to see you here, Peter!
This was a fun challenge, AND I learned something as well. I alway thought it was bumpershoot, not bumbershoot! I’ve been wrong all my life!!
Bumpershoot is so cute, too, Bev! I have always done that with the word “kerfuffle,” which I thought was “kerfluffle.” 😉
I enjoyed taking part in this challenge though I joined late. Glad that I didn’t miss. 🙂
