Hello dear friends and happy start of summer to all of you.
Björn here
This week in Sweden is dominated by end of school, which means that there are party tents, flags, and music in the neighborhood. For some reason, the tradition of students riding on the backs of lorries is particularly strong for those who graduate from high school.
As this is a ritual of transitioning to adulthood (at least partly) the students are leaving behind the schools and will spend their next year(s) backpacking, finding a job, or entering university. It can be a struggle to wake up with all those dreams, but without the dreams, it would be infinitely worse.
Dreams
Langston Hughes – 1901-1967
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
I think many of you have memories from this time, or maybe you have family that are going through these life-changing moments.
As for myself, I have decided to take some time off from writing. I will be back in August but the bar will stay open as usual. Today I will not link up any poem of my own, but I will be there to host an open link Live from 3 PM EST to 4 PM EST.

Bjorn, Thank you as always for all you do! Enjoy your time off, you will be missed. I have been contemplating a break myself. Wishing you peace, health and joy in your quest for understanding. I used a form that you were once fond of. Enjoy my friend!
Thank you for hosting, Bjorn! The image above made me chuckle. I love that students do this where you are.
I really enjoyed your poem and it was a great session. Wishing you a good break! 🙂
Sorry I missed the live show this time around, but I’m busy diggin the Nova Scotia with My Beloved Sandra. Be back later this month (maybe).
Thanks for hosting, Björn. Enjoy your time off. I hope you find renewal.
Nice to imagine Sweden. My paternal great grandfather Oscar Lunquist was born there.
Enjoy the summer break Bjorn.
Thank you for hosting, Bjorn! I am going to catch up with reading today, as I was too exhausted from proofreading yesterday. Enjoy your summer break, and see you in September!
Thank you for hosting, Bjorn! Reading your Langston poem that was included while sitting in the sudden high heat, it makes me wrongfully think that maybe frozen snowy world is not such a bad idea right now.
Hope you have a well deserved rest and I am sure you will enrich our August with an abundance of fresh writing from you.
Hope your summer is not as hot as the ones here in the Central Valley. Best wishes in all things creative.
