Lillian here, delighted to host Tuesday Poetics from Boston!
Last week, Thursday and Saturday, I took a walk around the globe with many of you on OLN LIVE. Not familiar with OLN LIVE? It’s held on a Thursday and Saturday, for an hour each day, once a month here at dVerse. Thursday is always from 3 to 4 PM, Eastern Standard Time; Saturdays is always from 10 to 11 AM, Eastern Standard Time. A link is provided right here on the dVerse home page that connects everyone with audio and visual – the pub comes alive! Folks read a poem of their choice or just sit in to listen – and of course there’s some fun chatting as well. Last week we had folks from Australia, India, Jerusalem, Kenya, Pakistan, Sweden, Trinidad Tobago, and the UK; also from Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Vermont in the US. It was quite a jaunt!
Last month my husband and I enjoyed a cruise around the Mediterranean. The port stops were amazing. We strolled through the Colosseum in Rome, walked ancient roadways in Pompeii, explored the Acropolis, strolled through narrow lanes in Mykonos, and walked with awe through Dubrovnik. And closer to home, in just four more days, we’ll be in our beloved Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We’ll delight in low-tide walks. At high tide, the ocean comes very close to our deck on the unit we’ve rented every year for the past twenty-five years. We’ll take strolls into town, meander through art galleries and small unique shops. We’ll walk down to the wharf to see all the fishing boats. So have you guessed the theme of today’s prompt? I’d like you to take us on a walk! Maybe in your neighborhood, or through a market you frequent, or perhaps through your garden. You can take us on a walk through a place you’ve recently visited. Be specific with your words – your imagery. Take us on a walk through one specific place. Oh, and let us know if we need to bring an umbrella or a winter jacket! I’m looking forward to putting many miles on my feet through all of your poems today!

New to dVerse? Need to be refreshed on the rules? Here’s what to do:
- Write a poem that takes us on a walk with you! Be specific in your imagery so we’re right there with you!
- Post the poem to your blog AND add the exact URL for your poem to Mr. Linky below.
- REMEMBER to either TAG dVerse in your post, or include a link at the end of your poem that leads readers back to dVerse (https://dversepoets.com).
- If you do not TAG or include a link to dVerse at the end of your post, I will gently remind you to do so. After all, this will increase your readership and comments, and others will find dVerse and hopefully join in the fun. If you do not add the TAG or link after my reminder, I will remove your post from Mr. Linky. I do not want to do that! So please do include the TAG or link!

Hello Lillian, as you might understand this prompt really speaks to me… I sometimes wonder do I walk to live or live to walk.

Pub is now open! I have my handy bartender’s guide book with me so order any drink you have a hankering for….my little fingers will walk right though the book to get the recipe and your thirst will be satisfied!
Also serving pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting in honor of the autumnal season that’s almost upon us.
LOOKING forward to taking lots of walks with you all today!

Good evening poets – and Lill, of course – thank you for hosting with a prompt that speaks to me, especially since my swollen leg has improved and I’m getting out and about again. There are so many wonderful places to walk around here, it would have been hard to choose if we hadn’t gone to The Old Vicarage Gardens last Wednesday. Today we went to Norwich, a fine city that is easy and interesting to walk around. I’m looking forward to taking virtual walks with our lovely poets.

So glad you leg is doing better, Kim. Ah yes….I saw some photos from the Old Vicarage on facebook so looking forward to reading your poem and actually walking there with you!

Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting sounds wonderful! I will have one please 🥰
Loved the prompt, Lillian! Will be here today and tomorrow to read, savor and comment. Happy Tuesday, my friend ❤️❤️

You’ll love my pumpkin bars…got the recipe from a neighbor about a mile down the road when we lived in our farmhouse in Iowa many many years ago! 🙂

Wonderful prompt Lil, and thank you for hosting. Walking is not something I’m able to do, now for a number of years, but it was something I loved. My preferred walks were always nature walks. I also thoroughly enjoyed our many years exhibiting at art shows around the country, but the only walking we did was through the fellow exhibitors booths. Perhaps I will look back at a past work or maybe dig into my memory bank and cobble something together. 🙂✌🏼

Memories of a past walk would be delightful! Good to see you here, my friend.

Well Lil. I was able to draw a clear recall of one of my final favorite hikes into wilderness. I can never go again because if failed health. But I’d bargain with the devil yo do it one more time. Hope you enjoy my friend. I also created three brand new digital art pieces to accent the poem. 🙂✌🏼🫶🏼

A great prompt, Lillian. You beach house is beautiful. Hope you have a great week. At least you won’t be as hot as it is here in NC today. 93 F on my computer as I write… with humidity! Thanks for hosting!
lillian said:
Ah…I do wish it was “our beach house” — but we feel like it is for 2 weeks out of every year. We’ve been renting the same unit for 25 years 🙂

That is amazing! Love it.

Eyes are fading fast and supper is calling….as is my husband 🙂
Will be back in the morning for some more walking through poetry.
Not to worry – key to the pub, as always, is under the potted plant to right of the door. Let yourself in. Help yourself to a pumpkin bar and make yourself a beverage. No charge….except for you to leave a poem on the bar. Just put the key back under the pot when you leave 🙂
See you in the AM….looking forward to taking some more walks and getting in lots of steps with your words!

Pumpkin bars sound delicious Lillian and I might have what they call, in Ireland, a hot one – a whisky in hot water with a teaspoon of sugar and a slice of lemon with cloves please.
Not exactly a walk from me tonight but a trip anyway, and at least I am here at night and not in the morning like I usually am…

Good to see you here at the pub! A “hot one” is something new to me….glad you mentioned the recipe! Getting back to reading and walking this morning 🙂

I’ve had so little will to write lately, but I couldn’t resist this prompt as I walk every night. Thank you!
Such beautiful scenery around your beach house Lilian!

And in terms of learning, I’ve been with dVerse for at least 5 years and I’m learning all the time 🙂
