Greetings, prolific poem friends (and fiends)!
De Jackson here, aka WhimsyGizmo, and it’s time again for my all-time favorite poetry prompt, the Quadrille. It’s time to pen those pocket-sized poems of just 44 words, not counting the title, and including one word we here at dVerse provide. Did you know the Quadrille was created right here at dVerse? Hard to believe we’re on Quadrille #229!

But enough jabbering on about it.
Today, I want you to jam some form of the word jabber into your poem.

Indulge in some jibber-jabber. You could go about it by jabbering on and on (just remember to keep it to 44 words). Jab her. Write about the jabberjays from The Hunger Games. Or write a little poem about Jabber Jaw

(Anyone remember? Cartoon from the 70s…)

Let the Jabberwocky in. (You could even sneak some “brillig and slithy” in there, if you please.)

Or go jabber-walking about the page. Use your jabber-walkie-talkie. Technically, as one who often jabs, a boxer could be called a jabber. Play with the word however you please. Shorten it, lengthen it, stretch it or strengthen it. Whether you’re a poem purist, or get the word in there using en-jamb-ment, just be sure you write a piece of precisely 44 words, including some form of the word jabber.

New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Just pen us a poem of precisely 44 words, not counting the title, and using some form of the word jabber. Then jab your cursor on over to read some of the best poets on the ’net. And don’t forget: The Quadrille prompt is up all week, and multiple posts are welcome, so jabber on as much as you please.

I’ll leave you with some musical inspiration.

Now…

…and pen those poems!
