In summer last year, we ran into M:/P MAG on twitter and they contacted us for a discussion about Poetry in a Modern Society – the article can be read over HERE.
They also featured a poem of Brian’s and one of mine and soon the idea of a Poetry Collaboration was born.
So our Meeting the Bar challenge this week is a bit different.
We have no Mr. Linky, but an apportunity to submit your poem and possibly have it featured in the February issue of M:/P MAG.
The poetry theme for their upcoming issue is “Page Turn” and they will feature five of our poems.
M:/P MAG, a bilingual concept magazine since 2008, has become an online portal for international creatives to express themselves through thought provoking articles, submersive photography & creative events in Paris, the UK & Tokyo.
They believe in personal expression, the process behind the Fashion Industry, rather than its face value, as well as supporting & developing emerging talent.
The ethos of the magazine is art based as well as fashion related with a hint of philosophical creativity – and this is also the kind of poems they’re looking for.
Here’s how it works:
- Write a poem, based on the theme “Page Turn”
- Copy it into the email body (no word- or pdf attachements please) and send it to dVersePoets@gmail.com until the 12th of January. Don’t forget to add your name and blog url.
- Please keep in mind…once it’s sent, we can’t accept re-writes
- You can only submit one poem per person, not per blog
We will forward all poems anonymously to MJDuggan, the poetry editor of M:/P MAG and he will choose the five winners.
The chosen poems will be featured on February 3rd in the M:/P online MAG
From Jean-Paul Sartre to Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, M:/P MAG looks to you for inspiration – and we know, we have an awesome bunch of poets in the pub and really looking forward to what you’ll coming up with.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them in the comments…have fun with the challenge and…happy writing!!

Interesting theme–I also ask if it has to be a totally new poem, or whether a previously blogged poem is okay.
claudia said:
previously blogged is ok if it fits the theme

This is really great. It’s a nice push for some of us who are kind of bad at pushing ourselves to submit our work. Of course, by ‘us’ I mean ‘me’. lol
Thanks for the info 🙂 You guys are always awesome. Already voted for you!

Hello Claudia, if I do not wish to send the poem for submission, but would like to write a poem as a Page Turn theme or dVerse prompt and publish at blog, can or cannot? 🙂
oceangirl said:
and what does a page turn mean? It is not a page turner, is it?
claudia said:
sure…looking forward to reading…
page turn can go in different directions…maybe the start of something new..or bringing something old to an end…wide open space..

Is there any way, once the closing date comes… If we’re just gonna see the chosen 5 pieces in the Mag… You could post a list of the contributors so we could check the blogs for their poems?
claudia said:
we will surely announce the winners – most probably with a link to the mag where they can be read

This is great! I have one question though: does the poem have to be about fashion, considering that M:/P MAG is a fashion mag, or does the poem just have to focus on the words “Page Turn?”
claudia said:
the poem doesn’t have to be about fashion – they have a wide range – so page turn in any way you can think of is possible
Fayola said:
Thanks Claudia! I’ll be submitting mine very soon. And thanks for the opportunity!
snakypoet said:
Thanks to all concerned for the opportunity.
Can it be posted in a closed group as well as on one’s own blog?
claudia said:
no problem if it’s posted in a closed group..
