be prepared for adventure, Brian Miller, italian food is good, online poetry, poets may use creative exageration just a bit, sharing poetry
This weekend my family had the privilege of hosting Steve E and his wife. You may know Steve, he posts here pretty regularly on OpenLinkNight. They arrived from Florida Friday and left early Monday to continue their journey.
While they were here Steve celebrated his 80th birthday, while my wife and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary. We all went out to a nice little Italian restaurant, La Villa.
On Saturday, we all took a little hike along the old railway to walk through the tunnel in the mountain, where Steve got a little understanding on the creative license poet’s use…
“That is the longest quarter mile I ever hiked.”
“I might have been off just a little bit.”
Smiles. It was just a little longer, but what’s an extra mile among friends. Thing is I met Steve online, through poetry. This is the second year we have lived a bit together for his vacation. Don’t know about you but that trips me out sometimes—
and that is what is so cool about what we do here as well. You never know who you might meet…and what table you may be sharing a couple years from now.
Welcome to OpenLinkNight, my name is Brian Miller and its my privilege to be your host tonight. If you are new here, let me tell you how it works:
- Write a poem and post it to your webpage
- Click the Mr. Linky button below and enter your name & the direct URL to your webpage
- There, you will also find others that have linked in…Read, comment, make friends, give feedback, mingle, whatever you want to call it—but don’t miss this step—you don’t want to be a link dropper, it’s a bad rep, just saying.
- Promote yourself on social media, if you use @dversepoets we will find you a bit easier and help promote you.
- Have fun.
And if you are ever in Virginia, drop me a line, we’ll see if we can’t have dinner or something. See you out on the trail. ~Brian Miller

I spent most of this morning and part of this afternoon in our front garden, taking up grass and replacing it with something that will eventually be more decorative.

Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
I love meadows.. by moving only once a year with my scythe the grass is getting replaced by wildflowers gradually… Not much to lie down, or play soccer in but great for a silent stroll in the evening.

Mr. B…we are closer than we think, yet have never met…this October I am visiting 3, maybe 4 of my fellow penners all at once in the Northeast…I just said, “pull the trigger and by the ticket” and it’s done…not real concerned how it’ll turn out…common denominators being what they are, I know we all shall enjoy the company…and if some poeticisms come out of it, all the better, but it is the friendship and sharing this Life that interest me mostly….now, what’s your address? 🙂
I have left some words today, hopefully they are acceptable…they are about acceptance
Peace

As promised, linked t my Glosa from the last Form For All, which I was a mite too late to link to. (Though some people found it anyway.)
I am doing this in the morning, before even getting breakfast – and there are 91 people ahead of me already! Which kinda points up the problems of being on the other side of the world (down-under, as you say). Technically we’re ahead of you, time-wise, but it doesn’t work out that way when those hours in front are spent sleeping.
Well, never mind, I’m glad to be able to catch up here. 🙂

Hey Brian, Finally made it home from work. Looking forward to pulling up a chair and hanging out here for awhile. So cool that you have been able to spend time with a poet you met here. Last year while in PA I got to have lunch with a lovely and talented poet that I also met through my writing, & look forward to seeing her again, hopefully later this year when we head down that way again. I love this community; we are all different, yet we share such a big commonality: the love of the written word. It’s great!!
brian miller said:
smiles…aint that the truth…it is def cool getting to meet the faces behind the words…PA is not too far away from me either…hmm…

I am the wife of the Mr. Steve E. and I loved our visit – every single step we took whether it was a quarter mile or 10 miles. I loved every lake, tree, flower, duck, tunnel, bridge, road, deer, groundhog I saw. It was a privilege to meet a fellow blogger and his lovely wife and enthusiastic children. Life is truly interesting and I have learned that I have no idea what will be coming my way in the future. I have also learned, whatever it is, it will be fantastic.

I missed this one, but I enjoyed coming in to at least read this wonderful warm post.
Meeting people online is now a part of life. It’s not outside of what normally happens anymore, it’s an extension of it. I think what’s incredible when you knew them for a long time and then you receive a package from them, or better yet meet them face to face for the first time because somehow it’s just magical.
