..getting things ready for the 19th…we thought it would be nice to share pint of home brew poetry while we take a break from working…
So if you already want to get a bit familiar with the new place, be careful not to stumble upon the paint cans, random tools or adventurous ideas laying scattered all over the place. You might get your pants a bit dirty with wallpaper paste and such things, don’t say we did not warn you.
We’d just like to say, “Welcome Poet. First round is on us. Now let’s share a verse or two.”
The theme for today is construction, building, new beginnings, publife, community..whatever jumps to your mind with the start up on the 19th ahead…have fun with it…and drop us a link…
Cheers!
welcome to d’Verse…we still have some work to do…but please look around…the tabs at the top are active…add some poetry to the prompt…we will officially open the doors Tuesday, but wanted to give you a little taste…
We’re here! Can’t wait to link up and see who joins in! Thanks for breaking long enough to allow us a sneak peak! 🙂 Write on, Poet!
Well the pub’s coming along nicely, isn’t it? Think I’ll have a pint and peruse the works of some fellow poets when they swing on by for the fun. Construction, new beginnings…hm. I’ll have to sift through my works at some point today if I have something appropriate for the sharing…
Got one. Linky’s being…odd, but here’s the link to this oldy, that’s equal parts creation and destruction: http://cianphelan.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/creation-and-destruction/
Looking forward to a Saturday of reading!
have fun anna – some nice stuff around..
so mr. linky is not working…trying to fix it…
*clapping hands with glee* I’ll have a glass of wine please.. 🙂
you can for sure…the cellar is filled with some of the best wine from around the world..smiles – welcome at dVerse
I linked one.. it looked to link but no wit isn’t showing. Yours was first,
Brian
I’m not there twice. Just once on the link. Claudia has a great poem up and I just wanted to talk about where it all started – letters, words, paragraphs, readers, notebooks, essays, papers, poems. That’s my progression. How about you? Did you start with A Child’s Garden of Verse? We’re here to have fun and learn too.
Stop by on Thurs/Friday for my FormsForAll alternating with Luke Prater’s Meeting The Bar/Friday Crit. over in that corner by the window.
Crap now the cat has an idea, just because I came to peer…haha..fun stuff!
nice cat look forward to it…
Well, the place *is* under construction, after all. Till Mr Linky cooperates, you can find my contribution here:
http://versiscape-lifesentences.blogspot.com/2011/07/transitiondverse-poets-pub.html
I’ll be back later to check everyone’s contribution to the festivities.
Whoops! Looks like you might be treated to me twice! (blush)
I will try to link something up in a bit…i didnt see any links…so not sure of linky dude is up and working again…I;ll take a shot of Jager while a wait..
Annie just click on the mr. linky button to link up and see the other links
yeah, this is why we do these preparties to work out the bugs…mr linky is giving me fits…if you click the button you canlink in and will have the regular linky working by opening night…
I hope you like the poem I just threw together for you.
And I’ll take my Scotch neat, please.
Nice place, excited for the actual launch, but this preparty preview was definitely nice, thanks look forward to Tuesday:)

Hi, all! Claudia, did you save me my barstool? What’s on tap?

Yes Mr. Linky got some play from the cat, after I saw the construction lead, I went and got constructive at my mat. Not bad for 30mins wouldn’t you say, be back later to lurk, view others and cause dismay. As your food here just doesn’t fill me up, I think I need more than an imaginary cup..haha
Great site too, that you knew!
we will have to stock some vitals for the cat behind the bar for next time…smiles. thanks for playing along pat
oh there’s some tuna and milk in the fridge for the cat…smiles
As long as the pub has free refills on diet cola, I am content. 🙂
haha – we’re exchanging diet coke for poetry…smiles
Hey! I love this. Added a poem that sort of fits the prompt and will spend some time seeing what others offered. Best of luck with this new adventure!

Hi! Brian and Claudia…
I can see that the construction work is moving at a steady pace…as opening day is almost underway. I’m not a poet, but I most definitely, plan to be on hand in order to visit and read the poetic words by the poets here at dVerse.
a cup Of coffee and cake will suffice…Thanks, for sharing most gracious host and hostess!

thank you for ever being a supporter deedee
great to see you here deedee – let’s have a cake and a cup of coffee together
Is there going to be a linky or do I just “link” here? I will add dverse to the blogs I follow!
Margaret, great to see you. If you click on the Linky button it opens a pop up with all the links and a place for you to link your own poem….sorry we had some difficulty with the linky and had to fall back to this unfamiliar type. We are working on it for Tuesday.
Thanks for the patience and understanding.
Glad to see the party is still on… a bit late, I’m sure I’ve missed a few of the fun ones. Things truly look to be off to a great start at the pre-party! Thanks for the invite.
Sorry I’m late. Can I get a pitcher of Bacardi 151 and diet caramel pepsi? I’ll share it while I read/listen. 🙂

Hi Pete, good to see you man

Looks like this is shaping up to be a wonderful pub: homey, good company, and great “music” (i.e., poetry). Is it okay if I find a corner nook to sit in–I’d be very quiet, mostly watching and learning…
Looking forward to Tuesday!

Hello Claudia/Brian
I love the concept; a nice warm feel. I have posted a new poem called ‘first love’ on http://www.myghostanchor.com/2011/07/first-love.html . Yes, I know, totally not creative. But sometimes cliches are a perfect fit 🙂
Cheers

welcome elizabeth!
Brian and Claudia – i have come to extend my advance congratulations for the official opening of “dverse pub” this Tuesday. I am sorry i won’t be around then. The 1st pre-board exam will be held this Saturday and Sunday and i am setting off my muse for now to devote myself more on reviewing lectures, lessons, tough jots and everything that has to be reviewed. Again, congratz to both of you for giving life to this another wonderful place. Hopefully by next week i can write again. God bless and to all – enjoy!!!(:
Good day!
have fun at the pre-board exam…and looking forward to seeing you next week
Hi, Happened to see this site referenced on several poetry pieces that I’ve read and thought I’d check it out. What a clever idea, a ‘Poet’s Pub,’ where people can share ideas and comments and ‘drink’ the poetry. Am so reminded of James Joyce with this!
Two questions: 1) Are all writers and poets welcome? I may have missed this explanation somewhere and wasn’t sure if we had to be invited or asked, and 2) Do we need a Word Press blog to sign up. I can’t seem to “Like” this without being asked for a Word Press sign in.
Love the idea, beautiful site!
hey ginny – you don’t need a wordpress account and no special invitation. all writers are welcome….good to see you over here
You’re already bookmarked! Looking forward to meeting at the pub!
Hey Brian,
Just want to say thanks to you and the gang for putting yourselves out there. You make writers feel comfortable… something which can be hard to do and welcomed. Pray you find the balance between work, family, and your gift to write. Thanks to all for making “new beginnings” possible.
