We have had the shortest spring I can remember. A few weeks ago I saw the first spring-flowers and now it’s already full summer. We have gone from trees in all shades of green to the solid green of summer. But now the nights are long and bright and as a matter of fact as I open the bar at 9PM it’s still full daylight. It’s time to light up your bar-BQ’s invite and your friends and maybe open up a bottle of Rosé. I don’t know my way around the bar yet but I’m sure there are some chilled bottles somewhere for those that want. If not, I’m sure there will be some excellent offerings of poetry here tonight.
My name is Björn Rudberg, and this is my first Open Link and I’m happy to welcome you to this week’s Open Link Night.
If you are new here, here are a few guidelines on how it works:
- Write a poem and post it to your webpage.
- Click on the Mr. Linky button below and enter your name and direct url/web address to your poem; one poem per person please.
- There you will also find the list of those participating this week. You might want to refresh this occasionally or check back in as there are people joining over the next 33 hours.
- If it’s your first time here, please leave a comment to say so. That makes it much easier for us to find you and encourage you by visiting your site.
- Read other poets that have linked. Let them know what you thought, how the poem moved you, what caught your attention etc. The not-so-secret formula to receiving more visits and comments on your blog is to read and comment on other people’s poems. Please don’t forget to return the favour of those who have visited and commented on your work.
- Encourage others to participate through social media, promote both your own work and others.
- Have fun meeting and engaging with your fellow poets.

Welcome Bjorn!~ Great people and poets here.
I’ve posted two Sonnets! They are based on Celtic mythology. Thanks for reading and I really HATE sonnets. They are damn hard to write.

I am stubbornly bravely continuing to link up the next in the cinemagenic poetry series I have, LOVE HURTS 9, and I hope there are some folks out there that will have in all the way to Part 12. The work is “out there”, so many folks do not know how to react. Enjoy the PUB duties today!

Hi Bjorn. 🙂 We had a prelude to summer last week when the temperature soared and it became truly hot and humid. Now, we are back to more seasonable spring temperatures – but that may be cheating a bit because right now, we are in ME and not in our more southerly home. 🙂
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:

Hi Björn,
Nice to see you behind the bar – a well deserved honour. Here in Scotland we’ve had a short spring as well. We know summer is here because it hasn’t rained for 5 days! We’re all going about confused and fearing the worst … we know we’ll pay for this later.
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
And we usually get that rain here in Sweden a few days later…. But the daylight I love…
Tony Maude said:
Me too – it doesn’t get properly dark until after 10pm and then it’s not really dark for long. Makes up for the long winter nights.

Did I stop by to say hello? Bjoern–I cannot get the umlaut over the “o”–sorry–I have been enjoying your writing and love that you are hosting tonight. Brian and I are discussing my poem–a rare engagement–and I like the questions he raises. The theme of “what if we get too scared to take a stand” that underlies this poem is an ongoing one for me. If you find it too pessimistic, I invite you to “Now Hear This!”–a newer poem with LOVE as the answer.

Sorry Bjorn, not a new poem for your first OLN. I don’t have the energy to write more than a few words. The poem I linked was written in 2010, the first but by no means the last time I suffered spontaneous haemorrhage from the mouth. There have been others since, but this one is the worst ever – 36 hours non-stop. The poem is still valid!
