38 C, chimera, i need a cool drink, is this an oasis?, mirage, poetry, poetry prompt, summer heat, summer-- finally, taking flight
Fata morgana – chimera – mirage – summer heat illusions – you name it, a blend between reality and a short drift into that blurred space that dizzies our brain a bit on days when scorching heat hits heavy from a cloud-less sky–
summer, finally–
We had almost 30 C in the office last week, and there comes the point when things get really blurry & you want an ice cream, a cool drink, a forest lake or one of Saturn’s rings and just hula hoop a bit on an endless white beach, froth licking your feet, palmtrees… sigh… But in that very moment, the area manager for Russia turns up at your desk and wants to discuss some customer seminars .. well..
The challenge today is to let reality and fantasy blend a bit in the heat, then find a shadowy patch under a tree & write your poem
Behind the bar we serve gazpacho, cool drinks and ice cream with pink dotted umbrellas – just to cool you down a bit – ha – happy summer!

and once evening comes it’s really nice I guess.
Ha, We have a cool nice evening here.. a bicycle ride in the coutryside gave me some sweaty inspiration today…
haha..enjoyed your take björn and a nice countryside bicycle ride sounds right up my alley
nice…nothing like the wind in your hair and sweat on your brow…
hahah… he’s a poet….smiles
It was 95 km so I feel a little sore now. 🙂
ooooohhhhh….i can imagine…
Claudia, fab theme! A piece I wrote a couple of days ago fits so nicely, too. I am running around this afternoon, but will be back later to read — cannot wait to see what everyone cooks up.
nice… on my way over…
you realize of course 38 is a lot closer to freezing over here…ha…i’ll take that patch of shade though and watch the fantasia through the shimmer…look forward to seeing what everyone brings…
been overcast here all day, nice fall like weather…went to the farmers/artisans market downtown…lots of fun and creativity…i like your bird too c…smiles.
see you out on the trail…
nice…farmer market sounds great.. loving all the scents and busyness.. we should have a farmer market prompt someday…
we can make that work…i started like 4 poems in my notebook while T was looking around stalls and shops…so much color in the veg/art& people…
We are having a wonderful summer day here. Temperature near degrees F. and sunny. Not humid. Not a cloud in the sky. The perfect kind of summer day. Interesting prompt, Claudia. I didn’t work in the ‘mirage’ part of it, but the HEAT I did.
hiya mary…sounds fun…a perfect day indeed….
i enjoyed the little excursion to the tennis court even though i only played once myself… a friend talked me into it.. it was a scorching hot day and we were playing in the midday heat…ugh…
In June, it was about 48 C over here.. finally receded down to around 38 C.. I know how irksome hot days are.
Have to work on it… thinking of some idea to strike me so that I could write. Interesting prompt though! 🙂
48…my goodness…that would kill me…. heck..
It is killer.. Well, I wrote something.. a simple creation. 🙂
But of course, I enjoyed writing it.
It’s pretty hot here in Southern New Mexico. But near Phoenix, where my daughter lives, it’s sweltering. Too hot for me. Yet, that’s where I’m planning to move soon to be near her and family. Hope you’re enjoy a cool weekend.
I spent a summer in Phoenix 20 years ago.. Yes I recall the heat
they will love having you close myrna… and probably you get used to the heat after a while..
ah i hope that move goes well for you…it is good being near family…smiles…might want to start acclamating yourself though..ha…cut the AC off once a week…smiles.
A lovely day here, and such an apropos prompt, Claudia. Cheers ~ M

Oh… its Bastille’s Day, right? Thanks to history lessons, I remember the date..

thats cool…thanks for stopping in…and for reading…and hope to see you tomorrow…
Such a lovely prompt, Claudia! The right mix of reality and imagination really is what keeps us writing, isn’t it… thanks for the inspiration.
Happy Saturday, all!
smiles…true that….
swinging by your place in a min…
Claudia, your watercolor is amazing and beautiful! I’m sort of off prompt but it’s on prompt to me. Hope it works. I tried two word plays like you and Brian do…tentative trial. BTW, I just started commenting on the July 9 dVerse and this came along. I never did get back to the previous prompt. Am trying.
Oh.. is it by you Claudia!? I didn’t notice that.. Beautiful indeed.. A perfect blend of colors.. and an almost white background(tarnished by yellow and blue wisps) gives it a soothing effect. 🙂
smiles…thank you..
you are good maggie…and you’re response was so honest and …hard to even put to words…made me think in new ways…smiles.
thanks maggie and your poem really moved me deeply
According to my phone app, it’s just as hot here in Wolverhampton, UK as it is in Cyprus, and guess where I’m going in two weeks 🙂 Oh and my not so hot poem is up!
cyprus, nice place…
So, escaping the heat of the south of france with a bowie-fuelled space trip. Well, why not? fab theme Claudi 🙂
ha you as well…making me think new…no tears in space….
ha – it’s cold in space and better not cry there… watched a vid once where they wrung out a wet towel in space…fun how the physical laws are just upside down…
Take a look at this- it partly inspired the piece I linked today..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36xhtpw0Lg
Winter, as it is where I am, can skew reality in its own way, and my latest poem fits the prompt. Warning: some of you have seen it already. 🙂
hiya rosemary…
how are you?
Yes winter here too… though not as cold as some places…see if I can get something together but just wanted to say that I really love your watercolour, very free. 🙂
hiya di…
look forward to it…and thanks for bopping in…smiles…
It sounds like everyone is having a nice day..beautiful here as well; I love the prompt, Claudia and I should be out on my tricycle for some exercise…be lucky if I get in two miles, but it’s better than nothing..enjoy the evening all of you. I’ll be reading tonight.
tricycle….really…thats pretty cool…ha…
be over in a few minutes…then i am off for a walk…rains stopped and i’m betting on a nice sunset…
Sharing one I posted last summer–a true story that some of you read and commented on it last time around, so pardon the re-run.
ah quite alright…be over to read it soon….
happy saturday sir…
If it weren’t for the vampire mosquitoes, I might go outside this summer. (And they certainly ain’t no mirage.)
ha, no they are not….skeeters get pretty big around here as well…
vampire mosquitoes….smiles…there’s a poem in this.. we don’t have that many this year so far…
Mine covers the dream/mirage aspect; not sure if I’ve got the heat in it.http://poetrytech.com/2013/07/13/the-dream-of-tartness/
mmm and left me with a nice taste as i drift off to sleep…smiles
be back in the AM…
I enjoyed this prompt a lot, despite the tameness of my images. Thank you, Claudia. My comments are back on. I miss you. I’ll be back to read some more tomorrow.
cool on having your comments back on susan and hope your back is better soon…
good morning….waking to the chirping of the birds and 17 new poems that wait to be read…how awesome is that….. happy sunday everyone
Very apt – and quite fun to try, so thanks.

Great prompt, Claudia! And what better way to pass a long, hot summer day than reading some great poetry? 🙂
This was inspiring, in an odd way… refer to linked poem for clarifications.

Fun prompt, Claudia!

My keyboard batteries died last night and I have turned the house upside down lookg for double A’s. No luck. It is too hard for me to visit and respond to all on my iPhone and will visit late tonight. I appreciate all the comments and visits I have received. Thanks. Just wanted you to know I’m not just dumping my poems here.
