Hello everyone and welcome to Open Link Night #163.
I wish you a very happy new year with your writing. May you have a year of amazing creativity ahead of you. As for myself, I have been too busy to be able to think about what to write. I have missed a great many good prompts as well. As much as writers’ block is agonizing for creative people, I find my current state equally challenging. However, that does not trouble me. I think staying away from any form of writing for a prolong period, contributes to our style and writing process when I start writing again, even if the difference is subtle, there is a change. Have you felt the same too?
This is the first OLN of the year. So let the window open and brace the freshness of wonderful poetry across the world. I may be struggling with my own writing – but I will look forward to read what you bring on board.
Now, if you are new to Dversepoets, this is what you got to do.
- Write a poem and post it to your site/blog.
- Enter a link to your poem and your name by clicking Mr Linky below. You have 33 hours to post after the link goes up.
- You will find links to other poets. Read and comment on other poet’s work. We advise that you follow the order.
- Keep in mind that others may have posted after you, so do check back on the linky page for details.
- Promote your work on social media. You may use the tag #dversepoets and we will share you as well.
Hello everyone…..
Hello Abhra… nice to have you in the bar… I guess it’s very late where you are… 🙂 I enjoyed writing, but it’s hard to get started after the break…
Yes Bjorn – it is 1:30 AM here…
Shudder… we are not kind in timing to you in India… I feel privileged.
Sadly it is true – one of the reasons why I wish we had weekend prompts…
Mr Linky for OLN extends to Saturday afternoon EST ~ People can still link in and catch up part of the weekend ~
In a way I am glad we don’t have weekend prompts anymore so I can spend more time with my family and doing some chores ~ Its tough specially on summer months because I want to spend my weekend out, not inside the house ~ See you soon ~
Yes, but if anyone joins up late – rarely they get visits. I agree you need to spend time with family during the weekends – but I am finding it increasingly difficult to cope up with time differences….
Hey everyone,
First open link night at dVerse 🙂 glad to be here! Sharing my poem “Joy.” Hope you guys like it. Thanks for hosting Abhra 🙂
Lots of love,
Sanaa
Thank you Sana – welcome to OLN.
Hi there Abhra and new year greetings to All,
Back here, with my new collection finally at the printers, its was kinda difficult deciding what (in a hurry…) to chose from my recent work to publicly post for the Festive Season! Finally settling on the poem: ‘Treasured Energies’ and then ended up missing the cut for the last OLN of the year – Hey! Ho! So hope it still does the trick for you all!! Looking forward to catching up with everyone’s stuff tonight too… Sorry about the double post tonight also – second one is the poem…
Loved the wonderful new-year greeting Scott…
Thank you – and congratulations on your first collection
Hello everyone! It’s nice to have you hosting our first OLN of the New Year, Abhra. And by the way, Happy New Year to you!
Nice to have you Gayle… I had looked forward to read your glosa, and it was great to read…
Oh, nice, Bjorn…I’m so glad you liked it, thanks!
Here in Stockholm it has been really cold the last few days… and on Wednesday we could finally come out and skate on the ice… I hope this will be an ice-winter… and I promise I will share some skating images in that case….
We had chilly below 0 C temps and now anything plus, is welcome ~
I like the idea of a weekend prompt. Perhaps a prompt on a Friday to be posted on Sunday.
I have two pieces I was working on today, one a redux and one totally new. Oddly they are not alike but have a common word between them. Is open mic the one where we are only allowed to post one poem or can we post 2? I will post one and the other will also be on my blog if you’d like to read it.
Open Mic allows only one poem… on all others there are multiple… 🙂
Thanks 🙂
I forgot to add the audio to the post, so I just added it if anyone wants to hear it as well
Sure – would love to.
Time for me to go to bed… 🙂
See you tomorrow Bjorn 🙂
Hello again, I missed the deadline for sharing a poem with you about memories evoked by a scent. So here it is now. Best wishes.
Thanks for joining us today ~ You can check out our schedule up there ~
It is always good to revisit the old prompts for ideas. I used to do that very often….
Thanks for hosting Abhra and wishing you all Happy New Year and Happy OLN ~ I will be hitting the trail in a bit ~
Hi Abhra, my first time here, and thanks for getting us started.
Hi James, thanks for joining – I could not comment on your blog. I think you need to revisit your settings.
Nice to read your work, James, but I couldn’t leave a comment either. It’s asking us to “log in” before we can comment, but I am logged in…still can’t.
Gayle ~
Hi James,
Please allow comments in your blog to let us know we visited and read your poem ~ You might want to check the comment settings ~ Thanks ~
I share my comment here… as there is something not correct in your comment settings… I recently heard about the war in Bosnia, and what happened in Mostar… somehow your poem took me there… People running in the rain from snipers…
Welcome to the d’Verse gang! I could not make a comment either on your poem although I did read. Please check under your settings and adjust so we can leave comments and let you know we visited.
Hi… Looking forward to reading your OLN posts! 🙂
Please do visit as we appreciate poets who reciprocate and comments on other poems as well ~ Happy OLN ~
Hello everyone. I am checking in late to say hello and to wish you all Happy New Year and Happy first OLN of the year. I am sidelined with flu and will be sitting this one out. I may check in later to read if I feel up to it. Meantime I will off and on be working on the First Haibun of the Year, Monday. Hope you all will return and submit your haibuns. Take care everyone.
I look forward to your haibun prompt…
Looking forward to it Toni ~ Take care ~
Sorry you aren’t feeling well, Toni. Take care.
Thank you Abhra. I’m wishing everyone a happy new year too. I know I have been MIA all year. I haven’t had much of a head for writing or even thinking about poetry. I am going to try to fix this in 2016 but there are circumstances that keep interfering in my doing that as you all well know. I have written this today from some old notes. It was inspired by the writings of Seamus Heaney. Here’s to being able to return to the fold. Gay
So great to have you back … and hope it will continue… even if matters interfere.
Lovely to read you again Gay ~
Thank you both. I will try when I can. It’s a little easier to hit OLN than the weekly poetics, etc. I am still acting as full time nurse/chauffeur and overseer. It’s weird how time consuming it is…but I miss all of you and I’d forgotten how soul satisfying reading your work is to me!
Happy New Year, Gay, it was nice to read your work again.
Happy New Year and welcome back everyone! Looking forward to reading your poems, although I’m not sure I’ve got one to link up on this occasion. I’m trying to catch up with too many things after a very lazy holiday offline.
Great that you could join… 🙂
Happy Open Link, and welcome to everyone. Like Kanzensakura, I am sidelined with flu & don’t feel well….won’t be able to participate this time. Enjoy, everyone; and see you next time.
Ah.. I hope you get better Mary… it’s the time of the year for flu.
Take care Mary and see you hopefully next week ~
Feel better soon, Mary.
Hello, Abhra! It’s good to be back at the pub. The time for the link ran out on the first one of the year. Too slow to respond. Got here on time this time. Hope everyone is enjoying 2016 so far. The weather here has been very warm. Not complaining, just saying!
Thank you so much – yes, the new year has been good to me, so far 🙂
Happy New Year to all! I moseyed up to the bar at this pub just before the holidays — so happy it’s “open” again. Since politics are often a topic of conversation in pubs, I thought I’d join in with The Politics of Haiku! 🙂
No time to write a new poem today, but not wanting to miss the first OLN of the year I decided to share one from last year that I wrote about my first one-eyed dog. I’ll be back a little later and tomorrow to read some poems. Peace, Linda
Hi~ I am back here – had an extremely busy Friday…going for my rounds now…
Didn’t make it in time.
