Cheers, poetical bar hoppers! De, here. It’s time again for what is quickly becoming my new favorite challenge: the Quadrille.
We want a poem of exactly 44 words, including a word we provide.
So far for Q44, we’ve danced…we’ve lulled. Today, I want us to
bubble.
Bubble over with excitement. Blow bubbles. Grab some bubble gum. In other words, include the word “bubble” as one of your 44 words, using it as a noun, a verb, or an adjective. Your choice. You can even use a variation: bubbling, bubbled, bubbly. Just be sure you stick to exactly 44 words, including your bubble.

Ready to play Quadrille?
– Let your words (44 of ’em, to be exact) bubble over.
– Put your poem on your blog and link back to this post.
– Link it up to our Mr. Linky.
– Visit other blogs. Enjoy some amazing poets. Comment. Come back later this week and write another one, and visit some more. Comment some more. Let your poem bubbles fly.
…Opening a virtual bottle of bubbly, and toasting all you amazing poets…
Bubble, bubble…tech gave me trouble. 😉
As some of you know. Namely, those of you who subscribe by email or a feeder, and got the word on Friday, instead of today, as planned. My apologies for the sneak peek. Wasn’t it funny when you clicked over and the post had vanished? Mua-ha-ha…{insert maniacal laugh here}
Now, drop and give me 44 more. If you got the word and wrote early, that just means you have time to write another one. Can’t wait to read it. Cheers!
Goblins. It’s always goblins. And maniacal laughter, of course.
Yes. Poem Goblins. So true. They ate the premature prompt. Gobbled it right up. 😉
When I clicked the link and couldn’t find it anywhere, I began to wonder if I was imagining things! All sorts of things bubbled up into my mind 😛
😉 Heehee. We like to keep you guessin’. 😉
And for those of you seeing “bubble” for the first time, cheers and happy writing! I can’t wait to read everybody’s Q44’s!
Just saw it today…….and apologies to all for not doing more reading over the weekend and since Thursday. Had my niece visiting us in Bermuda — so took a little hiatus. I’m back….bubbling with enthusiasm! We tipped a glass of champagne over the weekend and had some yummy desserts……prelude to my quadrille! So nice to see you here De…..shall enjoy reading tonight!
‘Twas delicious, Lillian. So glad you bubbled by.
And no worries…hope you enjoyed your visit. Reading is for your delight and leisure, never obligation.
…ah but I enjoy it so! Was having withdrawal symptoms this weekend! (in a good way)…..you all are absolutely amazing bartenders. Do so wish there was a real pub where we could all have a gather!
YES. You should host. In BERMUDA. 😉
I shall blow bubbles into the surf. Ahhhhhh.
Smiling I am! Full moon mischief tonight!
No harm done, De! Perhaps a few had a fun head start. I know I did myself. No apologies necessary. I have done this a time or two in different places!
Ha.. it was also up on our facebook page… But I’m starting writing now… so I’ll be back in a while…
Bubble, double toil and trouble … let the magic work 🙂
Maybe if I had seen it early, I would have paid attention to the word count. I kind of ate a few *cough*.
Abby 🙂
She’s such a cutie.
This photo is from a few years ago. Miss Spicy Sassy Pants turns 13 on Thursday. Where did the time go? Floating away, like that bubble…
I loved the picture… 🙂
Thanks, Björn. I was inspired by your awesome video last week to choose a word I had a great photo for. 😉
Ha.. the funny thing is that I sent out the video, and somehow wrote that they felt lulled by the video…
I loved the video. Completely mesmerizing. My daughter would die to live there. She’s obsessed with ice-skating but has nowhere to do it. She loves cold weather and is so frustrated with being trapped in the South. 🙂
This year we go out every weekend… Soon I will go home on my bike across the lake.
Yes, me too..it’s a great picture 🙂
Love the picture De 🙂
Thanks, guys. I love it, too. I don’t often catch great moments like that.
Mine, I confess, I did after I saw the preview. (Smiles) Actually worked on it this morning. Had a bit of fun with it. I will be back a bit later to see what others have written.
Mary, guilty as charged.
Drop and give me 44 more. 😉
Ha, I will see what I can do! Smiles.
Uh oh…me too. If I drop, I’ll never get up again.
40! *I’m a rebel*
Hey, bub(b). Lei off the lays!
Oh wait; I might have meant that
the other way around. 😉
I am waiting for somebody to hyphenate today. Bub
-bled.
That Somebody is you, of course. 😉
I feel more bubb-
led
YES. Get thee to thine keyboard, she said.
I’ve double-bubbled.
Who else is gonna?
I challenge you all to a Double Bubble Duel.
I’m gonna have to go buy some now. You’ve got me craving it, big time!
Still working on lessons with the kids; then I have to take them to Heritage Girls. But maybe tonight I can fumble something up for you … nothing nearly as fabulous as what’s already been written for you, though! Unbelievable contributions, thus far.
Your bubble fumblings will be amazing, ma’am.
Maybe have the girls write for us, too? 😉
Oh yes! What a great idea!!!
I did edit myself and did not write the poem I was going to write. It was kind of macabre and I didn’t want to encourage those thoughts at the time. But eh. I should write it ^_^
Good to stretch the legs a bit
I was just thinking how fantastic this prompt is because it’s helping people write fun, light-hearted, happy poetry … which is making ALL of us feel better. It’s kind of making me rethink my tendency to write twisted poetry a bit.
I like both. 🙂
I saw the post for maybe a nano-second before it was gone, saw the word for an instant and then forgot it. It wasn’t until Bjorn repeated the word in an email to us all that I then remembered it and wrote my Q44 so I could have it ready by three…or thereabout. 🙂 Thanks for the fun, De!
😉
You’re still guilty, as charged, Gayle.
Drop and gimme 44 more. 😉
I just posted my second one, De! 😉
Yay! You rock. Heading over now.
I never even saw the word. I was too captivated by Abby’s adorable picture. 🙂
That is an adorable picture which I didn’t even scroll down to see when I saw that word “bubble” in bold letters and then promptly forgot what it was! 🙂 Oh well…
Will be back a bit later…have to make a run to the store and then get in the kitchen. Can’t wait to read more!
Hey, buy me some bubbles, will you? I want some now, and we don’t have any. When my now-teens were little, we used to buy the BEST bubbles. I can’t think of the name of them now. I think it was the brand from one of those “come and pay to play” places…it’s like 125 degrees here in the summer, so we did that a couple of times, when I basically had two toddlers, and the bubbles at one of the places were FANTASTIC. And of course, they sold them.
{POP!}
{POP!}
{POP!}
Our family says “pop” instead of “fart.” 🙂
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I have a friend who calls it a “fluffy.” 😉
I could not stop myself double up the trouble… let the cauldron bubble…
YES.
I actually have two more in the hopper (there’s something about doing four Q44’s that pleases my sense of equilibrium), but I don’t want to overwhelm, just yet. Hoping some others bubble over, first…
I’m sure I’m the opposite from everyone else. Most people probably have to limit themselves to 44 words; I, on the other hand, have trouble coming up with as many as 44 words.
Meeeeee, toooooo. Isn’t that funny. I’ll go back and count, thinking, that should do it, and there are only like 26 words. 😉
Exactly. That’s why I went to the dictionary. I knew I could never come up with that many of my own words. 🙂
Bedtime here..
G’night, Sir. {Pop} back when you get up. 😉
Hi De ~
I am finally home and will be making my rounds ~ I love the word bubble, so many ways to play it ~ Have a good Monday everyone ~
So glad you’re here, Grace. 🙂 Can’t wait for you to see everybody’s gorgeous bubbles.
Thank you, De–very fun prompt to work with.
Thank YOU, Victoria. I loved yours. Hope you’ll double-bubble with us. 😉
Would love to if time will cooperate. Odd day, today.
Hope it’s gotten better, Victoria.
And there’s plenty of time this week to double-bubble. 😉
You just love saying “double bubble,” don’t you? 🙂
Yep. And I stil want gum.
So De… you triolet and then run away? I’ve found you (happily) and am back to try keeping pace in the “Pub”
So happy to see you here, Walt! 🙂
And I just caught up on both Triolet strands. Sorry to leave you hangin’ this weekend. 😉 I took a little Sabbath.
PS: Loved your Q44. 🙂
Okay. Mine’s in. Forgive me if there are any errors; I had to rush there at the end. Gotta get the kids to church …
Read it. Loved it. Missing Sir Buble, though…which might mean you owe me another. 😉 Have good church.
I tried. No luck.
So… I I completely forgot the poem was supposed to be exactly 44 words. Mine is only 40… I blame it all on an ugly hat. It got me all distracted. Ugly hats have that effect on people. Seriously. Feel free to delete my link… and my shame with. *deep exaggerated sigh*
Then again, you can always pretend that goblins stole a few of my words. It does happen, you know? Really.
I shan’t delete, but thou shalt add four words. I will head over now and make some suggestions…
I threw in some cats and the likes… 😀
Perfecto. 🙂
😀
A bubble-licious prompt! I am getting hooked on quadrilles.
Meeeee tooooo! 🙂
Hi, again! Glad to see the Quadrille prompt back! Thank you De for a great word to use! It is late here, so will look forward to reading everyone’s entry in the morning!
So glad to see you, ghost! 😉
Thanks, De! 🙂 Great bubbly prompt!
So much lightness in fun… Writing 44 word poetry has become a habit… 🙂
….and a challenge. I usually end up 1 word over or under
Re the quadrille- do you count the articles? My counter on WP seems to be under-counting but perhaps it does not count a or the
I use the word counter like this one: https://wordcounter.net/
Thank you, but the challenge to write a quadrille, it is 44 exactly, including the articles? I deleted a few words because I counted a, and, and the
Yes, PS. 44 words, exactly. I use the word counter in Word.
Keep in mind, hyphenated words count as one word on a counter, usually. Could that be the issue?
Thanks, I always meant to ask but forgot. This is the second time I am trying the quadrille. It is so small, I can count it by myself but I wasn’t sure about the articles. Thank you.
P.S., PS:
I think I know why the word counter is giving you a little trouble. Definitely a hyphen issue. See my comment on your piece (which I loved, by the way.)
Yes that is probably it 🙂 I just wanted to make sure I was supposed to count the articles for dverse. Don’t need a counter for so few ^_^
Yep. Words is words, for this challenge. 😉
I bubbled over on this one, and offered a second piece as well! Agree with Bjorn, writing in 44 is addictive!
It is addicting 🙂
YES! Yay! 🙂 Heading over now.
Writing in 4 is too.
Now, Imma do that today. 🙂
THANK YOU, to those of you who have Double Bubbled!
If you haven’t yet, I would love to see a second offering.
And if you’ve already Doubled Bubbled, why not go ahead and cram that third piece of gum in there and offer a third? {Remember the bubbles that three pieces of Hubba Bubba produced? Holy cow!}
I’m readin’ and writin’ today (absolutely NO ‘rithmetic, except counting 44s), so I would love to see anything you’ve got. Q me!
“cram that third piece of gum in there” … Ha. You crack me up. 🙂 That’s totally what we do around here.
I’m glad you’re having a math-free day today, since you hate it so much.
Well, I can only speak for the hours before evening homework time. No telling what sort of PreAlgebra horrors might come home…
Hey, I have assigned all three of the girls a creative-writing project including the word “bubble.” They will not be writing quads, but I promise that the one that’s been turned in so far is well worth the read.
I will post all three together when they’re all finished. I can stick a link in the comments or in your linky box. Just let me know. Again, they will not be quadrilles.
Better put ’em in the comments, then. We’ve got poets who don’t partake in the comments, and they might get confused. 😉 Can’t wait to read!
Here’s B’s (she’s 5):
http://neoprimitivesynthesis.blogspot.com/2016/02/little-miss-bs-bubble-story.html
You will flipping love this.
The other two just wrote goofy sentences that frankly weren’t very funny. 😉
I did indeed LOVE this. Tiny Storytellers are just the best, unencumbered by self editors. I’m so glad you shared the word with the girls!
A poet stumbles into a bar… and finds a new place to ponder the poetic process! My first stab at dVerse. Be gentle with me!
Chase! I was so happy to see you here. I assume you followed Sir Walter W over. 😉 I loved your piece. Double dip, if you like.
And how great to see a bubble stumble…
Quadrille.
It just takes 44 words
So Quill let us not cross swords
We should combine to write
Poetry which should excite
Then bubble over with joy
Words are my play toy
Conjuring up poetic lines
Some may even combine rhymes
Another challenge I’ve overcome?

Ooooo. Love Quill/Quadrille. 🙂 !!!
Great piece, Chris!
Cheers.

You clever bartender, you. 😉
Ok, just saw this and I had to play along…
Welcome, Truedessa. I love yours!
Had computer probs; glad I’m not too late.
Our Monday prompts are always open for a week… both Haibun and quadrille… next week it’s haibun again…
I love them both.
So glad you’re here, Rosemary! Feel free to write another! I would love for us to top out at 44 Quadrilles (or more) this week!
Yes, I just double bubbled! 🙂
Yay! Thank you! I loved it!
I just posted a fourth Q44, y’all. Obnoxious, I know. But I really want us to reach 44 entries this week. Keep Q-ing! I will be checking back, and reading. 🙂
