Hi everyone! I am so excited that spring is upon us now with the warmer weather. I feel like singing and dancing outside when I go out for my walk.
The word for today is TWIST.
You can go the unexpected as twist in fate, or dark as twisted mind. Twist is also the famous dance popular in the 1960’s, in which couples vigorously twist their hips in time to rhythmic music.
Choose TWIST as a noun or verb in any form of speech that works for you. Remember—the word must be included in your poem that will be exactly 44 words—no more, no less. You are welcome to write and link up more than 1 poem.
Here’s how to join us:
Write your piece in 44 words exactly, including the given word in any of its usages.
Put it on your blog and link back to dVerse by accessing Mr. Linky at the bottom or this post. The link will be open for a week.
Visit other poets and comment on their work.
Above all, have fun.
Remember, the link will be open all week! See you on the poetry trail!!

Welcome to another Quadrille ~ I look forward to reading your poems with a TWIST ~
Happy Monday to all ~

We can also do it with a poetic twist at the end…:-) Or a volta
Grace said:
Oh yes, that’s right 🙂

Loved the video, loved the prompt. Thanks, Grace.

Thanks Victoria 🙂

Wonderful Grace it was fun!

Twistin’ the afternoon away. Fantastic. Thanks, Grace!
Grace said:
This can be played in several ways ~ Thanks De ~

So tempted to write about my lastest Twist experience–if it had been a haibun. Cautionary notice–think twice if you’re over 60! Yes, it’s the music of your teen years, but…
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
I twisted my back when I was out skiing and could hardly walk for days… and I’m not yet 60…
Grace said:
I was dancing when listening to this music but have to be careful with the body twisting and turning 🙂
kanzensakura said:
I have to laugh in sympathy.. the other day I was blasting a favorite song, Uptown Funk. My husband said he wished he could dance like that (meaning as in the video). I said, no prob and proceeded to show him how. After a couple of minutes I excused myself and went outside to secretly howl and moan and limp. Wow..stupid is as stupid does, lol. ButbI remember the twist coming out when I was a kid. Totally stopped the dancing joined to each other!

Oh, man. I can relate. A friend (just one year younger than me) challenged me to do a cartwheel (we were cheerleaders together in high school). She pulled off a flawless one. Mine was wonky, but I was so proud. Then I woke up the next morning. Oh.My.Word.
hayesspencer said:
Haha…yeah cartwheels at 16 is vastly different from those at 64. I can still do one but yeah, wonky fer sure. I have decided to justbstick to my akido and sword forms…easier on my poor back and short little legs.
whimsygizmo said:
They’re no picnic at 46, either. 😉 I’ll stick to the elliptical.
She said:
Ha ha ha. I tried to do a backbend for my six-year-old the other day. 🙂 I got partway down and then decided to just work on spotting her instead.
hayesspencer said:
Good plan! 🙂
lillian said:
Ha! I just read something the other day: Doing a carthweel is not just like riding a bike! As in, not so easy to do it again later in life 🙂
mishunderstood said:
Oh I used to love doing cartwheels. I keep telling myself I can still do one……(in my mind). I have a great imagination…haha.
lillian said:
Yeah….I was the high school cheerleader who did flips across the floor / track surrounding the football field; and perfect split jumps too! 🙂 Now, in my rejuvenatement period, I’m hobbling on a sprained ankle from 6 weeks ago and trying to get back to sitting cross legged for yoga on the floor! I hear ya! 🙂
Bekkie said:
I can relate everyone I’ll be 62 next month and the back is a very tricky thing! All this talk about high school, I don’t know if I’d want to do it again but I’d love to Twist and dance around again with no trips to the ER. Lol!

Edward Rinaldi (@blindedbeatpoet) said:
I’ll post one in a bit on my blog too … have to go get a couple of shots at the Poestenkill gorge for a Euell Gibbons inspired poem first … not even sure if the first comment has 44 words …
Pleasant Street said:
Cream of asparagus soup does sound delicious, as is your verse
ZQ said:
Haha made my day… won a twisting contest in high school after going behind the bleachers to make out and drank a few beers 🙂
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
I’d love that to be put in words… it would make my day too.
ZQ said:
Björn, I am so burnt out right now I can hardly spell my name right. 🙂 However, I find this site one of the more interesting and challenging to poets …and fun too. I’m glad to be a follower. And besides, you are quite the character 🙂
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
The prompt is open a complete week… 🙂
ZQ said:
OK I did it now I’ll link in… haha
Pleasant Street said:
Which was the best part of the day, the making out or the contest win?
ZQ said:
the contest win… since no one got pregnant hehe 🙂
lillian said:
…and did you wear white tee shirts with the sleeves rolled up? 🙂
ZQ said:
..and with a pack of “Lucky’s” rolled up into them. hehe
lillian said:
Great prompt, Grace! I was so excited with my idea that I forgot it’s a quadrille! Back to the drawing board — will return soon 🙂
Grace said:
Looking forward to it Lillian ~
kanzensakura said:
Fun word for Quadrille….44 words all about a fun sounding word…twist.
Grace said:
Can be fun or scary, depending on the twist 🙂
Bodhirose said:
Thanks for the prompt, Grace, and that’s a great word…so many possibilities. May have to link up tomorrow. We’re having a bunch of out of town relatives for dinner and a hockey game tonight. Don’t ask me anything about hockey or teams…I know nothing! 🙂
Grace said:
I don’t know about hockey too but have fun with the relatives Gayle ~
Bodhirose said:
We have a house full, Grace. Three children sure do liven up a place! 🙂 My cat’s hiding under my bed…too much energy happening out there!
Arcadia Maria said:
Haha. I’m watching Flyers-Capitols game as I type this.
Bodhirose said:
Ha…that’s what’s on our tv now. We have a real Flyers fan in the house. My son-in-law…I don’t think he’s too thrilled right now. 😦
Arcadia Maria said:
No he would’t be. Those Flyers will give you an ulcer. Haha.
Bodhirose said:
I give him his space while he’s in mourning…poor guy.

Yes, every other Monday…Quadrille Monday…a surprise word, poem of exactly 44 words. Every other Monday, Haibun Monday with the subject being the prompter’s choice. Lots of good stuff on tap! Great to have you join us.

Thank you for the prompt Grace. I managed to get mine down. See ya tomorrow!

And another, equally nonsensical; doubling as response to prompt for ‘toads’ today.

Good morning Poets Pub! I see you’ve been twisting the night away. A great prompt that has stumped me. I’m going to have to think about this for a while…
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
I’m sure you’ll come back with a good twist-

I didnt participate in this one, but oh! There are so many beautiful and creative quadrilles out there today! They are all so inspiring! I love reading all of the work you poets create. And what a great prompt.
Grace said:
You can still play along as the prompt is open all week ~
Patti said:
I haven’t played for a very long time, but I guess the muse hasn’t totally deserted me after all. I’m in.

Done already Grace but you probably saw that already. I’ll be around to read in the next few days-can’t wait!
Bekkie said:
My first time for a Quadrille it was a new and fun experience, thanks for introducing it to me. Thanks to Bjorn for reminding me to come and play today. Hope I’m not too late I need to stay on top of these challenge days.
I will be around to read in the next few days I can’t wait to see what everyone came up with using 44 words.
I know everyone’s busy but I was picked be a Jawbone Ambassador and my story came out his month. I didn’t write it, it’s about me and my path to losing weight and good health using a health band. Check it out: https://jawbone.com/get-up-together/story/rebecca-sanchez There was a photoshoot that’s how they made me look that way.
Have a nice week and I’ll be checking in. Hugs! Bekkie
