Hi everyone! It is time for our 44 word count challenge, and seeing the beautiful spring season, the word is
green.
Grace@Everyday Amazing
Use green as a noun, adjective or verb in 44 word post, no more nor less. The title is not included in the word count. You make it light & funny or dark & chilling. Make us green with envy or green with horror. You can go the route of green environment by writing an eco-poetry or a sci-fi poem filled with green-faced creatures. I see green in fresh salads as well as old food, and one time I saw a woman with green-dyed hair in the subway.
There are many possibilities and you can link up as many “green” poems as you like for the whole week.
If this is your first time to visit us, here’s how to play:
– Write your poem and post it on your blog or website
– Copy the Url of your poem (the poem, not your entire blog or website) and post it on Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post
– Take the time to visit and comment on the poems by other members of our wonderful poetry community
– The prompt is up for several days so be sure to check back later for poets who link later.
– Have fun!
For the record, I found the “word” on Bjorn’s blog and wrote my poem “Envious” before I read this and saw “green with envy” as one of your suggested options. 😉 Great choice of words, though. I love the 44-word challenge. Really makes you think about the words you choose.
Green with envy is perfect Linda ~ I will be making my rounds shortly in a bit ~
A great prompt… I had just played along with magnetic poetry and decided to color the darkness with some green.
I found that its fun to play with that ~ Love the play of words Bjorn ~
Welcome everyone to Quadrille ~ Go Green is the word today, smiles ~
Oh Grace, chuckling was I reading your prompt and seeing the reference to “old food.”
I’ll be reading in just a few minutes — loved this prompt! 🙂 Having a sunny green spring Monday in Boston.
Cleaning the ref gives you old and moldy food 🙂
Wonderful prompt Grace! Already have two poems for it, right out of the gate. Green is my favorite color from grass green to pine green to celadon. Everything that green implies – growth, renewal, freshness. I always through green got a bum rap with that envy thing though. Hello every one!!!
I see that Toni ~ Well you are ahead of everyone, smiles ~
Mint green was my wedding color, so its a favorite color of mine too ~
Mint is soooo lovely. At one point, before my husband had to stop, he grew a pale green rose tipped in pale pink. It was amazing.
ooooh, do you have a picture of that rose? It truly sounds beautiful!
No photos. We aren’t into photography that much. I use my phone mainly for something that interests me. I worked for the Philly Enq years ago and got quite burned out on photography. did free lance food styling and photos. Now I just like to snap shot from my phone. The rose had an odd name, something Irish – Corkney lady or something. He had to quit tending roses (he won awards) when he developed an autoimmune syndrome. The roses have staph and funguses and thorns. Too dangerous. I prefer growing veggies so friends came and took what they wanted for their gardens.
That is a stunning shade of rose ~
Could you make me mojito? it would fit the bar tonight to serve a green drink.
Sure and I will be serving avocado dips & chips as well ~ Cheers!!!!!
It isn’t green but it does start with absinthe – I’d like a Sazerac! and plenty of that avocado dip. Love avocados. Often eat half of one for lunch drizzled with lime juice and a bit of salt. Excuse me while I get down and greedy.
Your talk of food always make me hungry Toni ~ Guacamole with tortilla chips are delicious ~ Cheers!!!!
LOL….guacamole with a spoon is good too!
Guacamole and tortilla chips is one of my favourite snacks. I like it mixed with salsa and a squeeze of fresh lime.
Same here too ~
I’m with you … straight off the spoon! Man, that stuff is good.
That stuff is amazing…a local market had avocados for 49 cents (!!!!) last week. I bought enough to keep me happy for two weeks, every day. Good stuff and good for you.
I’ll just take the avocados, please. Sliced with a drizzle of olive oil and just a bit of salt. I’ll pass on the drinks for a while — still knitting a complicated pattern and reading posts for a while 🙂
I just love colors–all colors, really and the quadrille is my newest, favorite prompt. So thanks for making me happy today. I won’t be surprised if another poem comes my way as I’m spending most of my time right now in my green, green garden. Thank God for the rain we have had this year–a nice little shower again last night.
Another poem is always welcomed Victoria ~ I will hopping around the green garden when I get home later ~ Thanks for joining us ~
And since I don’t drink, I wouldn’t mind a bit of ice tea with a sprig of mint…
Here’s one for you !!!! Cheers ~
One thing I miss a lot with city high-rise living — gardening! And somehow, we get teensy white flying things when I try to do container gardening on our city 7th floor deck 😦 Is it fresh mint your’e serving?
Victoria has a lovely garden as I recall ~ It takes a lot of effort to pot and garden that I am tempted to just buy a whole batch of potted flowers ~ Yes, have one as you are reading poems 🙂
I had to rise to the sci-fi challenge… Now it’s bedtime for me… Hope to see many double dipping tonight.
Green sci-fi poems are welcomed here Bjorn ~ See you tomorrow ~
Good night, Bjorn…and hello to all !
Love this prompt, Grace…so many green ideas to to choose from. I wandered into the dark side of green on this one, but maybe another poem will evolve with a softer shade. 🙂
Hi Mish ! I went the soft route too after seeing the spring flowers on our trees ~ Looking forward to your second one if you like 🙂
Hello everybody, my first time here, all seems pretty friendly…
Hello and welcome to D’verse Sarah ~ Glad that you can join us today ~
So nice to meet you Sarah! Glad to have you join us — and yes. It’s a very friendly bunch 🙂
Happy Monday! Love the Quadrille poetry form. 🙂 It is definitely time for some nice, warm weather to bring out the green things! Thanks for hosting, and the prompt, Grace!
Yes, its that time of year though sometimes it seems that spring is playing hide and seek with us ~ Thanks for joining us 🙂
It seems to be a roller coaster spring everywhere. Yesterday we didn’t get out of the 50s with rain, today is sunny in the 80s. 🙂
Hi, here is my contribution to the Quadrille #9 prompt: Green
hosted and posted by Grace…thanks!
I am hitting the gym and will be back in a bit ~ Loving all the green poems so far 🙂
Hey, gang. So happy to see everybody going green today. 🙂
Hi De ~ We are greening and grinning here 🙂
After taking a couple of days off of poeming, I was so inspired I just triple-dipped. 😉 Thanks, Grace.
You are the lady to beat De ~ Thanks for triple-dipping ~
Not beat; just join. 😉 Just giving everybody the permission slip to write like a billion of these. I loooooooove them.
Hello everyone. I wrote two poems and couldn’t decide which one to post, so I post both of them. 🙂
2- That works for me ~ I will be over in a bit ~
I’ve loved reading everyone’s green poems today! I didn’t participate, but you all are so inspiring and wonderful poets that I feel very full from having read so many. 🙂
The post is open the whole week so feel free to write and link up later on ~ Thanks for dropping 🙂
I will be checking out for the night and will visit again tomorrow for more green poems ~ Thanks for turning me green with delight 🙂
Hi Grace and all of you wonderful dVerse poets! Nice to meet new members of the Poets Pub and glad to be back with those I already know
I got back from Vienna on Sunday but have managed to pick up some strange illness with ulcerated throat and mouth, and stomach problems – the journey back was awful. I managed to get an appointment with my GP yesterday, but when I got in the car to drive there, I had a flat tyre. Not a good start to the week! So I didn’t write much yesterday.
We did, however, have a couple of lovely days in Vienna and we managed a visit to the Belvedere, which is always a joy and where I have discovered a new favourite painting, which I hope to write about later in the week. I also took photographs and made some notes for poems, inspiration for the quadrille – Vienna is very green.
I love the theme, Grace. Green is a wonderful colour, which I thought was not a colour for me to wear, but my daughter found me a gorgeous green silk dress coat with a black and white Japanese pattern – my mother of the bride outfit for her wedding on 30th May.
I am looking forward to reading quadrilles a little later on this morning, when I get back from the doctor’s.
Hoping you feel better very soon!
Thank you, Lillian.
Hope you feel better Kim ~ And that is a lovely color for a dress coat ~ Best wishes to the daughter’s wedding ~
Thank you, Grace.
Such a scary illness…I hope you get better real quick.
Thank you for your kind wishes.
Hi Kim…hope you are feeling better. So glad that you were still able to join in. Vienna sounds wonderful, especially the “green”.
Loved your quadrille! 🙂
Apologies that it takes me a while to participate and comment. I’ll be having slow, intermittent internet access for the next 3 months or so as local towers are upgraded.
No problem Rosemary ~ I am glad that you can make it ~
Oh, I forgot to put ‘(2)’ on my double-dip – but I guess people will work it out. I wrote a new poem especially to try and correct a misleading impression I seem to have given with my first!
Thanks for the second one 🙂
There were exactly 44 links to this quadrille challenge…then i added my post…couldn’t resist!
