Hello everyone!   In my autumn walk last week, I came upon the wooden bridge overlooking the creek.   I marvelled how one can go from one side of the bridge, cross over  to the other side and have a different view of the landscape shimmering with autumn colors.

So for this haibun challenge, write about the bridge from the first person- either as a physical object, metaphor or perhaps a person who has been a bridge in your life. As its also halloween, you can write about that bridge between life and death.   Let’s use the bridge of our imagination! Here are some quotes for your pen:

“May the bridges I burn light the way”
Moosa Rahat
“The fate of the bridges is to be lonely; because bridges are to cross not to stay!”
Mehmet Murat ildan
“Stop telling me not to burn bridges. Some bridges are meant to be burnt, some roads are never meant to be traveled again.”
Steve Maraboli
“Hate destroys a bridge but forgiveness rebuilds it.”
Debasish Mridha
“Contradictions are the impossible chasms that create forever separations. God is the forever bridge that creates impossible reunions.”
Craig D. Lounsbrough
“She saw him like he was the only star in the whole damn sky. Like he was the only bridge between her sanity and madness.”
Akshay Vasu
“I can
almost understand
why
people
leap
from
bridges.”
Charles Bukowski

The inclusion of Charles Bukowski’s poem is a hint that you can write a contemporary haibun for this week’s challenge.  To write a haibun from a first person perspective, use a terse descriptive prose (1 paragraph), and followed by a short poem (may or may not be a haiku or senryu).  The challenge is open all week!

If you are new to dVerse or even if not, please:

– Write your haibun and link it to dVerse.
– Post it to Mr. Linky which is found at the bottom of this post. Please link your poem’s URL instead of your blog name.
– Visit each other, read, and comment on other writers. This is how we enjoy each other and grow our poetic community.

Have fun and see you at the poetry trail! Grace
