Hello all, this is the last OLN
before
we close a while
to rest
to read
to spend some time with family
to enjoy the season
to have some silence
to tick off lists
’tis the season after all.
This has been a year of changes, of old heroes passing. Of divides and burning bridges. Of war and cluster bombs. Of loved ones leaving. But maybe we should think about what’s good in life, there are so many things to be happy for after all. So join me at the fireplace for poetry and each other’s company. We will be back in good spirits when we’ve passed the darkest times.
Tonight you can link up any one poem you like. Then join us in the fun of reading and sharing your gratitude of words. Visit and have fun.
Smiles from all of us to all of you.
Hello all, the bar is open, and I’m still writing a poem for the pub. Please grab something steaming hot, I will be around in just a while.
I’m also shutting up shop for the holidays – my children have a short half-day at school tomorrow, I have a few more invoices to send and taxes to pay, and then it’s all … well, a bit of fun and games and hopefully plenty of reading as well and relaxation.
I may link up with an older poem, but I hope to visit and read many, many of your poems. Have a lovely, restful, peaceful holiday season, happy Christmas and Hannukah, and may 2017 be much kinder with us all…
Invoices to send is a great step towards getting paid… 🙂
Hello Bjorn and everyone!!! It has been a year of changes for sure ~
Thanks to all those who have hosted, visited and shared with us their work and talents this year ~ Blessings to all of you and see you next year !!!
Indeed so many great poems… so many lovely poets.
Hello all, I am working on a poem I wrote this morning. Just needs a bit broken off the edges then it will be okay.
I’m going for something cold today, with southern comfort
Coming up… Southern comfort and ginger ale.
Wowie! You guys do fast work 🙂 Thought I would slip in with the first few entries for once
Ah.. You were fast… great to have you here.
Good evening dear Bjorn & All…
As we approach the end of a pretty crazy year! Here is my very latest and brand new piece piece, still warm! and only just released on my website this week and one I am bringing to dVerse tonight.
This is to be my final offering for 2016 and, as ever, comments and/or personal responses always very welcome and much appreciated…
Certainly wasn’t the easiest of years to find a creative close to… But hope you enjoy and find something in it… I am also really looking forward to catching up with everyone else’s new work later too…
Have a great night everyone…. And I wish you all a truly wonderful Christmas and a very fruitful and joyful New Year ahead.
Hello Scott, so great to have you here… I just need to finish up my own poem, and I will come around to read everyone.
A bit of lighthearted humor for OLN tonight ❤️Happy Holidays everyone 🙂
We need lighthearted… we need humor… I will get around to read
❤️
Thank you Björn and all you other lovely poets for hosting in turn at this wonderful bar! I am linking a haibun I wrote earlier this week about heavenly music and it was so lovely to hear Leonard sing Hallelujah here tonight. I wish you all a blessed festive season and a very happy, healthy and creative 2017 :o) xxx
Thank you Xenia, I wish you a wonderful break from linking up…
Thank you :o)
Well said, Bjorn! I linked an old poem called Cookie Cutter. May we not forget in darker times that the light always returns! I’ll be around to read in a bit. Bright blessings to each of you and your loved ones!
Thank you, we need to remind ourselves that we are close to solstice.
Love to look toward the light. Wishing you all joy, you deserve it. This is the year I started writing in earnest, I cannot thank you all enough for your support and readership. Torn on what to leave you with. I’ve written more than I’ve posted here, so if you like it at all feel free to poke around previous posts. Blessings to you!
Many wishes for a great seasonal break…
Bjorn, I have been in a Leonard Cohen mood all week. Glad to find someone on the same frequency, my friend.
I do want to play some Cohen… for me this is a perfect Christmas song.
Hm I left a reply and it is gone. Just something about being surprised how quick you all are 🙂
Southern is very comforting today, with some orange juice too
I see that other reply… hmm
mysterious….
what did you put in that drink *sniff*
Comfort of south… 🙂
Just boarded plane (90 minutes late) to Chicago for extended weekend of Hallberg clan holiday celebration. Can’t believe we’re going somewhere colder!! Will mosey over to read from hotel this evening.
Happy holiday season to all! I shall still post during our dVerse break … usually a solitary and quiet time but nice to still write.
Thanks to all my dVerse friends for a fabulous year!
Wave as you pass overhead! I hope you have a good visit in spite of the early frigid
I’ll be back to read more later. Thank you for you hospitality. Time to brave the cold. It’s 9F , the warmest it will be today
Merry Christmas everyone to those who celebrate, good tidings to all
Good tidings to all, and merry Christmas.
And to you and to yours!
Hello Bjorn and all, happy holidays to all who celebrate and may 2017 be one of peace, love and abundance for us all! I revisited a form that Victoria presented to us that our old friend Luke Prater created, the Octain Refrain.
Oh I love when people dig out the old forms…. we really have a treasure chest in all those old articles and prompts.
We sure do!
Wow–lots of complications for me today, power outage, computer glitch, lost 3 pages of my document, & had to start over fresh; these Blackthorne pages are wordy!! So, this is the first new episode for several months, following a complete review of the previous 54 episodes–just in time to end our poetic years. Per always, my participation in the dVerse prompts keep my poetic juices flowing, So Bjorn can be happy that BLACKTHORNE is continuing, & so can I. Cinemagenic poetry continues to e very challenging, as well as joyful–as my poetic Western saga/movie rides on.
Wow Glenn, a new episode… how much I have wanted that one… I will come around and read.
May all be well, happy, and peaceful.
May it be so.. we need it for sure.
Hello Bjorn and all you wonderful poets at the bar tonight! I’ve just got back from a candlelit tour of Holkham Hall, which was very Christmassy. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and look forward to a different kind of year to the one we’ve just had. Much love, Kim xxx
Wonderful to have something Christmassy… I think I need something like that soon.
It’s a cold day here in NYC. At 10 days before Christmas, I too am like minded in closing the proverbial shop and resting a bit.
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a happy final OLN for 2016!
Happy end of year, and hope you get some winter bliss (inside)… here it’s cold too. Lakes are freezing at the moment.
So much to be grateful for, even though the year has been a tough one. I’m late to the pub because of a special Christmas lunch with 4 friends I met by happenstance–we all graduated from the same High School in So. California within a few years of each other but didn’t know each other until a couple of years ago when the school sent out lists of grads who lived near each other. Grateful for them and so much more–that is the antidote for all the rest. Thank you, Bjorn and all those who make the pub such a special place.
Christmas can be a wonderful time to meet with friends, with family…
Ho, Ho, Ho, Hello everyone! Wishing y’all a wonderful Christmas and New Year with a bit of humor in my poem. Thanks, Bjorn, for hosting this time, and to everyone who has come to visit my place this past year, I very much appreciated it. 🙂 xo
Your epic poem is a masterpiece, Barbara. Good for a big smile.
Wishing everybody peace of mind, inner calm, and contentment during this hectic, but most beautiful time of the year.
Sending some peace back at you..
Hello everyone. Not sure when I’ll get a chance to check out everyone poems but I wanted to post mine for the last OLN of the year.
Wishing everyone a peaceful holiday season.
No new prompt for a couple of weeks, so there’s plenty of time to visit.
I shall join you in thinking of the good, and of the better… yet to come.
Much better yet to come… sending holiday hugs
Merry Xmas to all and to all other holidays….a Joyful beginning and time! This year has been fruitful and aggravating in equal proportions. I have been laid up for months with a bad back and now chiropractic care. Ugh. My dear doctor has hands like iron …. I feel beaten up! LOL!’
Last week or so, I jumped the gun on what I thought was Haibun Monday and it wasn’t…so I am posting this haibun once again. Not new, but a personal favorite. I send greetings and care to those I have met here and out there and my special thoughts to those poets who are suffering great personal burdens now. May the blessings of the Season bestowed to you and yours! I’m glad of a break, but with 9 chickens, 8 cats, 8 stray cats down the street, 4 dogs….a mini farm….there isn’t much ‘break’ in store. LOL!
I hope your back heals in the best possible way. Great to see your poem linked up again, OLN is great for that.
Yep…..dverse has brought me out of my isolation and depression. Thank you, Bjorn!
Rest up if you can — our backs are so key to everything — take care and here’s to healing and a healthy 2017!
Thank you so very much for hosting, today, and every day. Sharing here was a step out of my comfort zone, as I’d never shared my poetry before, but you’ve all been so welcoming. Happy holidays to all…cheers! 💜
Good that we can give you a platform to share. It’s so great to both read and write.
Thank you for a memorable year of poetry. Wishing you blessings in your journey,
Peace, love and light
Best wishing back – unicorn and dragon managing coming.
I offer up an oldie that struck me tonight. Thanks for reading throughout the year.
Thank you for the year and wishes for a great year going forwatd
Sorry that I cannot get around to your posts – all of your comments are much appreciated and am very glad to contribute – thank you
Wow this so many links that’s coming up… sitting by the fireplace reading poetry… is there anything better?
Fireplace, poetry, perfection! Perhaps some hot chocolate to go with. The dead of winter, dark and bleak, a difficult time it is. Seems to me thats precisely why we celebrate now. Candle fires lights all against the dark, pleading for the suns return. Plans and preparations to occupy the mind. Evergreen trees and boughs for color against the winter grays. Recall the true purpose of the holidays, and the true purpose of our selves. Merry Christmas, happy solstice, or whatever other Sisyphus of joy and happiness you’d most like to accept
