Hi everyone! Welcome to our OpenLinkNight ! This is your opportunity to link 1 poem of your choice as this is no prompt-day. For those who missed the Mr Linky deadline the past week or this Tuesday’s poetics about “verbing”, this is also your opportunity to share your poem. I also want to remind you that our Haibun Monday is still open the whole week.
I am sharing a lovely poem by E.E. Cummings, which is beautifully read by Amanda Palmer (via Brain Pickings) – Humanity i love you.
Humanity i love you
because you would rather black the boots of
success than enquire whose soul dangles from his
watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both
parties and because you
unflinchingly applaud all
songs containing the words country home and
mother when sung at the old howard
Humanity i love you because
when you’re hard up you pawn your
intelligence to buy a drink and when
you’re flush pride keeps
you from the pawn shop and
because you are continually committing
nuisances but more
especially in your own house
Humanity i love you because you
are perpetually putting the secret of
life in your pants and forgetting
it’s there and sitting down
on it
and because you are
forever making poems in the lap
of death Humanity
i hate you
To join us for Thursday’s OpenLinkNight, which happens every other week, here’s how to join:

I had forgotten how humane and funny ee cummings was. Getting colder here after 75 degree weather. Finally January returns. This OLN is the best thing going….in my generally ignored opinion. “Queen of Sheba” from my new book, is my submission today. Had to lighten up after this weekend.

Love the poem Jane…. and it is good to submit whatever you like…

Happy Thursday everyone…on this cold grey day in Boston — but I am preparing for aquamarine waters and 70 degrees for a month in beautiful Bermuda starting Saturday. So I’ll look at the grey outside my window and smile.
Thanks for hosting, Grace. That’s a powerful reading – thanks for posting it!
Will be reading mainly tomorrow in the AM with my steaming elixir…for now, it’s back to organizing for packing 🙂

I’ve linked a poem I posted today, a circular poem which is (I think) a form of my very own invention. I’d be interested to hear what you think of the form.
Björn Rudberg (brudberg) said:
Loved the form… and rhymeschemes are always fun… 🙂

I posted one about donuts and coffee where the donuts might be like the humanity in the Cummings’ poem, however, I still love humanity and will not reject any donut.

After reading the poems from Tuesday I noticed a few people talking about the insanity going on right now in our country and the world so I posted “All Lives Matter.” It was my answer to one of the biggest problems we have with each other on this planet.
Have a nice weekend! I am a day late, ~sigh~
Hugs!
