Hello poetic friends.
Summer is here, if not in weather so at least according to the calendar, and as usual we are giving you the chance to take a break. We will be closed for two weeks and return on July 17.
At 3:15 EST I will be broadcasting live on our Facebook page. So if you have not liked our page yet, please do.
I will be live for about 20 minutes and I will be able to follow your comments. I might read some of the linked poems but I will try to respond to as many of your comments as possible. If nothing else just pass by and click a like.
Afterwards I will leave the video here >so those who where absent during the broadcast can listen to it in arrears.
As for the Open Link, this is how it works:
Publish a poem on you blog or select an old favorite.
Link it up on Mr Linky below. Please use the link directly to the poem and not just to the blog.
Leave a comment here or on Facebook and take part in the fun.
Do your rounds, read and comment on the other submissions.
Happy OLN everyone… in around 15 minutes I will be live on Facebook… You can leave a comment for me if there is something special you want me to discuss.
What’s the topic of the broadcast?
I have a few things to say… maybe read some poetry.. and anything you might want to bring up….
Will have to wait for the video, I closed my facebook account for various reasons.
Ouch… yes that’s the problem… might try with youtube next time…
Hey, y’all! Heading over to FB to see what’s up.
Look forward to see you there Charley.
On my way over to FB! How cool!
Happy Summer, Y’all!
Look forward to see you Jilly.
A few minutes left… you still have the time to get some earphones..
Hi Norseman Bjorn! Thank you for hosting this OLN. I have been sans computer (3 times) in 9 days. Ugh…so I missed Haibun Monday and other days, but it is now fixed so am here. Dverse folk (hell, all of us…) deserve a break, it’s summer and in the USA, we are preparing for the 4th of July….Independence Day…sorta. Lots of drinking, fireworks, gunshot and even more fun. I posted a Summer poem and hope it scratches an itch. Some paintings there with a summer-theme. Will be around now that I have a computer that obeys…..
Great to see you back Jane… sounds like we will have a full house.
I just posted a short poem. I’ll see you on facebook.
Look forward to see you there Frank.
I am not seeing anything. I will catch it later.
I saw that people watched… but the broadcast is there.
Ah, technology! Hovered in FB but to no avail. Will check back later 🙂
I have added a link directly to the video now. Just reload the page
I see this on my homepage on FB now. Using the link above to dversepoets didn’t show the video.
Also, I’m not very familiar with facebook. That could be part of the problem.
I hope so… we will try again…
Happy OLN everyone ~ I hope you enjoy the summer break and see you back here after 2 weeks ~
I will start my vacation then though…
Happy OLN…I have intermittent internet this eve…managed to post a poem and will head over to fb and see what’s what…apologies if i dip out unexpectedly.
The fb post will be there afterwards… so many possibilities to catch up
No FB on this side of the wall at the moment. Just handed in my homework, Master Bjorn … a longer one this round. Returning to my dreams now. Zzz …
Sleep well
I did!
I posted a poem. I don’t want to take a break. Do we have to?
Ha… we do need a break some of us… 🙂
Enjoy the break. Looking forward to the re-opening of the pub. We’ll miss the folks and the poems though. 🙂
Poetry need some silence as well
True indeed. 🙂
Yes we allneed a break. It will be good to be doing the prompts for Haibun Monday after I return from the break. I have been making notes and hope to have some good prompts for you all.
Oh and I will miss many of them when my vacation starts.
Bless your heart. There are still many more to come. Enjoy your well deserved vacation!
Looking forward to those, my little Haibun queen.
Enjoy your vacation.
Looking forward to the re-opening of the pub. Temperance from d’verse poetry for two weeks? Oh my.
I’ll have to catch up on the broadcast as a video — fascinating idea.
Linked to a previously posted poem that was inspired by a d’verse quadrille.
Great to see you Lorraine… the broadcast was a test… and we might do more later.
Some kind of tech glitch, brother; nothing appeared on FB, and here the video window says it can’t be viewed. Great idea though; if the video becomes viewable at some point, here or FB, will check int out.
Click on the link… it should be possible to view.
I seem to have posted on my own timeline and not on the page accidentally… but all my friends can see it at least. 🙂
I wish a happy summer break to all. I’m so grateful to have found this community of very talented wordaholics!
I knew from your comment that you couldn’t see the video… I have made it viewable now so it should work
Home late today so haven’t gotten to listen to the audio yet since the hubby is watching TV as I catch up. Will try to do so later this evening. Great idea and I’m looking forward to it. I will be by with a poem as soon as possible. Happy break all you stellar poets.
Thank you Victoria… I sometimes have the same problem, but that was fixed using a headphone 🙂 great since many people add audio to their poetry
Duh…I didn’t even think of using headphones…and I do have more than one set. That would allow me to skip the play-by-play calls in the background. Of course he was watching sports.
I messed up my link. Can you delete that?
I will do that Lynn
Soooo late to the pub! All 5 grandkids here so out and about all day and then exhausted, fell asleep on couch! Late to posting….which is too bad because I was really hoping to get a lot of reads on this one….you’ll see why when you take a peek 🙂
Everyone, enjoy your summer break!
Enjoy yours… it will be great to come back, but so fine to have some vacation.
Aw! I missed the live broadcast. Like you said in the video, it would be nice to have some sort of live event in the future. I’m so happy that the break is only two weeks. Great work, Bjorn!
I’m checking out alternatives – but I think Skype can work.
Yes Skype could be good, based on what we are doing, there are whole lot of alternatives, like Instagram which is pretty much as Facebook, but YouTube could be good, easily accessible without an app!
I think is break is good for every one… this is an opportunity for us all to get rejuvenated. Alas the broadcast didn’t work as well as I had hoped. But we will make a new effort.
Yes breaks could be good, it can be good for reflecting and correction and an opportunity for making some changes. We will definitely make a new effort!
I thought it was great, but then, I couldn’t be there to see it live.
time to digest the many, many poetry contributions of dVerse and with my thanks for all the inspirations and edification – as well as all who play host to us. Enjoy the summer break!
p.s. I am allergic to social media these days so will miss the FB and also going away for a weekend break so it will take time to get round to reading.
p.s. got my speakers working now for your video broadcast here
I will try to set up something
Ah, shame, missed it, but well done for doing a live broadcast! lovely to see and hear you (or I will do in a second)
Wishing everyone a good break. I will try to make the most of it to catch up on some of the prompts and poems I’ve missed. And perhaps, who knows, write some more rough drafts…
I look forward to see you later on… and hope to see what we can do more with live streaming going forward.
It’s 2:00am on June 30 here in Washington State and I just finished watching the great video you produced, Bjorn. It was a pleasure to see you and hear your voice; and the ideas for future conversations, readings, and interactions sounds wonderful!! It will be an exciting adventure for everyone, I am sure. I am looking forward to it (and the anthology book) very much. I hope others who have not seen it will wake
up to it and enjoy it as much as I did. Also, the readings by other poets, old and new,
was a special treat. Thank you and have a restorative and safe break from all you
do for all of us who visit the pub. 😉
I will see what we can set up… and it was great when I learned to do it well…. I hope to be able to make a conversation between two parties…
When I opened the video I exclaimed, “It’s Bjorn!” Wonderful idea that I hope will continue and expand. (I use something similar in teaching so that my kiddos can watch a lecture on their own time or participate live with questions.) Also, LOVE the idea of a release party – or any party, for that matter 🙂 Peace.
Great… then you are used to a webcam… if you have skype we can have you as a guest.
That would be fun!
That was really great, appreciate all the hard work you guys do!!!!
I missed the live event on Facebook, so thanks for posting the video here. It’s always nice to put a face and a voice to those we meet online. As for the anthology, I’m looking forward to its completion and am honored to have two poems included. I think an online launch party would be terrific, especially with a poetry reading component. I’m not sure how the logistics of that would work, but hopefully there’s someone in the dVerse community who can figure it out. I’m also glad for the break. I’m off work next week and can maybe get caught up reading poetry I’ve missed, in between continuing to work on my memoir. Thanks to all the pub tenders for all your hard work keeping dVerse going. Enjoy your well-deserved break.
I have been thinking about the readings… and it I’m successful it will only require poets to use skype to call in.
So late this week but I made it. Bjorn, your video was so thought-provoking. Your thoughts about space between word and space withing hit home. I need to up the ante on my tech skills, though. I’ve had Skype for a few years and haven’t yet figured out how to use it.
For this I used my mobile phone and a headset… skype will be for calling in…
So well done in my humble (or not so) opinion. I’m off to read.
Thank you for sharing this video here Björn (I am not on FB) and I wish you all a wonderful Summer break. I have been busy with friends visiting from overseas and will have more time to join in with the prompts again after the holidays.
It is the depths of Winter here but we don’t get as cold as the northern hemisphere and mostly the sun still shines. Enjoy your Summer as we enjoy our Winter.
We need silence also in winter…
Hi Bjorn,
I have been meaning to leave a message to let you know that I don’t participate in Facebook, but I was able to view the video last week here. It was great fun to listen to you talk as you shared your thoughts.
I hope everyone is enjoying their break.
Peace and light
