Welcome back to the Q! This is Mish, your host for this week’s Quadrille.
As summer surrenders slowly to fall, I look forward to the aroma of fresh baked apple crisp, curried carrot soup and the tang of cider simmering in the crock pot. With that in mind, I thought I would offer you the word, “spice” to season your quadrille.
Your entire poem need not be spicy or relate to spices (though that is fine too!) You can add “spice” or a derivative of the word with a subtle pinch. Be creative. Just remember that a quadrille must be exactly 44 words, excluding the title. Here are some other forms of the word, “spice” that may inspire you.
- Write a poem of exactly 44 words, excluding the title and include the given word.
- Click on “Mr. Linky” to add your name and direct url to your poem.
- Provide a link back to dverse from your site.
- Drop into the pub to say hello.
- Visit other poets to read and comment on their wonderful work.
- Enjoy!
Wow, it’s Quadrille, and I love the thought of spice, I can feel the scent of mulled wine in the pub tonight…
I think this is the best word so far.
Some spicy music for you:
Thanks for opening the pub doors, Bjorn and your choice of music is perfect.
Happy Quadrille Monday, folks! Looking forward to spicing up my life tonight 😊😎😳
Glad you could join in, Lil. Enjoy the spice. We all need a little of that from time to time. 🙂
Mulled cider and cinnamon toast for me, please…
Coming right up, sarah…..well a little late as I was still at work when you placed your order. I promise the cinnamon toast is not burnt. 🙂
Wonderful prompt Mish…all the words are in and another one coming soon. Evening everyone. Good to be in the pub.
Thank you Paul ! I just arrived home from a long day with toddlers. Can’t wait to get out on the trail. Looking forward to reading your quadrille(s). 🙂
A great prompt mish! I’m here for a few minutes but then I have to zip off. My neighbor is my eyes today for a few short moments.
Thanks for popping in, sweet lady. Thank goodness for good neighbours. Hope you are doing better. ((hugs))
Hello spicetasters, and especially Toni! this was fun, and I haven’t a clue, but it was fun. Will be around to read soon.

Thanks Kim…sweet dreams.
Thanks for hosting, Mish! This is a great prompt for this, my favorite time of year as well.
Thank you Crystal. Nice to see you. 🙂
Hello everyone! It’s a hot one out there…..spicy hot!! Still feels like summer today so I I’ll be serving up some ice cold Caesars ( a Canadian cocktail) with a dash of worcestershire sauce, dill pickle and celery. Enjoy!
Looking forward to your quadrilles. 🙂
Hey, y’all! Sure is a hot one! Barkeep, any chance I could get a Cholula Mary? It’s like a Tobasco Mary, but with a better quality of hot sauce.
Hey Charley…that sounds similar to a Caesar, here in Canada. I think the main difference would be that in a Caesar we use clamato juice. Then we like to pretty it up with an assortment of random garnishes….everything from a green pickled bean to a pepperoni stick.
One Cholula coming up!
Down here (in Charley-land), proper garnishes would include a stalk of celery, a plethora of olives (actually a dish of various olives on the side would be heaven). The clamato juice might actually be preferable to tomato. My mother used to administer tomato juice whenever I got sick as a child. It’s still not a favorite. A V8 would be even better.
Yes, the celery and olives are still classic for this drink but there seems to be a new trend here going for a wow factor. I actually saw one with a mini slider hamburger on top. A little ridiculous….haha.
I do try to be good to myself. I stay away from Poutine, and other wonderfully wicked dishes. Maybe I’ll live a little longer.

Taking a break from my break! I can’t resist a quadrille, especially such a spicy one. Thanks, Mish. I may not be able to read all of them, but will definitely return visits.
Slowly surfacing after moving house. A spicy quadrille is what I need right now 🙂
A long week–finally getting to this, but the weather has cooled a bit, and I’ve made the soup for this weekend. My kitchen smells like spices now–so it all works. 🙂 Love the prompt!
Was out of town all week, so very late to the party. Loved this word, Mish. Thank you!
