Hi friends! Grace here hosting our Quadrille where the challenge is to write a post of only 44 words with a chosen word. Can you guess the word with some quotes below?
Yes, the word is CREAK. Today, write us a poem or short prose containing the word CREAK. Make it a noun or verb. Create a halloween mood with grating sounds (creaking stairs or floors) or paint an emotional canvas (creaking heart). Or make it funny with bones creaking.
Here’s how to join the Quadrille:
– Write a poem or short prose of exactly 44 words, including the word creak.
– Put your post on your blog and link back to this post.
– Link it up with our Mr. Linky.
– Visit other blogs. Enjoy some amazing poets. Comment. Come back later this week and write another one, and visit some more. Comment some more. Create as many poems as you please, including ones with all the words.
See you at the poetry trail! Grace
Welcome to Quadrille Monday folks~ I look forward to your creaking voices… 🙂
We are approaching Halloween … what a great word for that.

Great word. Evening all.
Thank you ~ Evening Paul and thanks to you and Lillian for ALL the WORDs challenge, whew!
You’re welcome. Gotta see it through now.
Ditto to Paul……..the gauntlet has been thrown! 🙂 and it’s creakin’ along today 🙂
Happy Quadrille Monday, Grace, Bjorn and all you dVerse poets out there in cyberspace! I will be posting and reading. I have to run in about 20 minutes, but will be back in the morning. I love the work, Grace, and thanks for hosting!
I will be reading soon myself ~ Take care Kim and see you tomorrow in the poetry trail.
Great word, Grace. Thanks for hosting today. I am delighted to be back….recovered from extreme allergic reaction in my eyes….so I can enjoy reading some creakin’ good poetry today and tomorrow! 🙂 FUN word for the halloween season.
I think I heard my bones creaking..ha..ha… So glad that you are feeling better Lillian ~ Do take care of yourself ~
Great word Grace. Of course, I didn’t do the “expected” route any more than you did in your lovely quad.
Looking forward to it Toni ~ Am not feeling halloween yet though the decorations around the office, malls and streets are screaming halloween ~ Take care ~
I don’t do Halloween. Here in this neighborhood, we keep all the lights out so no one will come trick or treating.
Thanks for hosting, Grace! I’ve added a halloween-themed one.
Looking forward to it Frank ~ See you soon in the poetry trail ~
Hi Grace! Great word- and apt for the season.😊

Love this word. Thanks, Grace. Back soon to make my rounds.
Thank you De ~ I am hitting the trail myself ~
Thanks for hosting, Grace! I had some fun with this after a recent injury. 🙂
I hope you are feeling better ~ Nothing like a fall or an injury to remind oneself of our frail bones ~ Thanks for joining in ~
Great word, Grace. I’ll see what I can come up with. 🙂
Looking forward to it Merril ~ This prompt is open all week 🙂
Reblogged this on All About Writing and more.

Thank you!
I’ve been away, but my muse decided to play.
Good to see you Truedessa ~ Have a good week ahead ~
“Creak” is a wonderful word to add a little noise to our quadrille….whether spooky or not.
Happy Q44 everyone!
Happy Q44 back to you too Mish ~
Hi Grace, I enjoyed your invitation to guess the ‘word’ … I guessed it from the first quote 🙂 not thrilled with my result today but I fully enjoyed the process … thank you
Thanks for joining us Janice ~ Hope you are keeping warm ~
Thanks Grace…it is getting chilly and I’m slowly bringing out the layers 🙂
Hi Grace and everyone – thanks for the prompt – and looking forward to reading everyone’s creaking verse.
Hello Peter ! Thanks for joining our Q challenge ~
Thank you for the prompt. Off to Mr. Linky.
Good to see you Crow ~ Have a good week ~
I’m a chicken,so I don’t like it when inanimate things creak. I’m also in my mid-40’s, so I don’t like to hear my body creak either. But I do like the tangential vibe of music, so I think my creaking did ok. 🙂
Don’t like those creaking sounds myself Barry ~ Yours was lovely ~
Catch up later with reading as today there is much to do in a neighbour’s garden with all these winds! the quadrille one of my favourite prompts (and love the 2nd quote) – did not go far into imagination with ‘creak’ but it’s there all the same.
These gardens do take up a lot of time ~ Thanks for joining us Laura ~
I got my posted before the end of the week this time! 🙂 I’ll be back later to read all the creaking offerings.
Hooray ~ I will be hitting the trail soon ~
Well, my mind must be getting “creaky” cuz I wrote a haibun instead of a quadrille…oops!
Ha..ha…Our Monday prompts can get you messed up Lynn ~
Sneaking in late…to leave a little something…
& I cheated a bit with a few mashed words and a hyphen…
Just saying…
I play hide&seek from moonbeams
in the hallowed place by the creek
where you hollowed me
Scooped as a pumpkin on Halloween
removed of guts &seed
shallow-water baptized, anew
identity
& lit
by the stub of a candle shoved inside
burning
burning
it’s burning
I like how you moved this into a pumpkin metaphor and that candle burning… so glad to see your poem here 🙂
its still burning 🙂 So glad you were able to sneak in this poem X ~
Hope you are having a good week ~
Not bad. Today was tough. Long day.
Thanks for the great prompt, Grace! Fall is my favorite time of year, and Halloween is my favorite holiday, so this really gets into the spirit of it all. I’ll be back soon, to read y’all’s poems. 🙂
My favorite time of the year too ~ Thanks for joining us Barbara ~
