“Tis the night—the night
Of the grave’s delight,
And the warlocks are at their play;
Ye think that without,
The wild winds shout,
But no, it is they—it is they!”
― Arthur Cleveland Coxe, Halloween: A Romaunt
Hello Fellow Poets!
Welcome to the Halloween OLN, where we are conjuring up spells of delightfully wicked poems!
I hope you are all enjoying this day and as a special treat, I am serving up a Delightful Witches Brew Cocktail or whatever you choose.
And what would Halloween be without the Raven by none other than Dracula himself, Christopher Lee:
I am looking forward to some lovely, wicked and delightful poems- your choice.
Just a reminder: OLN means you can post ONE poem of your choosing (no specified form, length, word prompt etc)
Also, we request you either TAG dVerse or include a line at the end of your post that includes a link back to dVerse.
Those of you new to dVerse, here’s how to participate:
- Post any poem of your choosing on your blog or website.
- Click on Mr. Linky below to add your name and enter the direct URL to your poem
- On your blog, please provide a link back to dVerse. This enables others to enjoy our prompts, increases our readership and thus increases the responses to everyone’s poems.
- If you promote your poem on social media, use the tag #dverse poets
- And most importantly, please do read some of the other responses to the prompt and add a short comment or reaction. Everyone likes to be appreciated! The prompt is “live” for several days – as you’ll notice by the comments you’ll receive – so do stop by another day and read a few of the latecomers too!
Helllloooooo everyone and Happy Halloween! I should also warn you- Mercury just went retrograde today as well, so this is going to be interesting. Bar is open and ready for business!
I will return with a witche’s brew…
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Marvelous!
Good evening all and thank you, Linda, for hosting this Halloween OLN. I’ve diverged from the traditional and resurrected an old poem that is chilling in a futuristic kind of way. I’m looking forward to some thrills and chills!
Welcome Kim, and wonderful to have you here. Your poem is freaking awesome!
Thank you so much, Linda!
Hi Linda! Thanks for hosting. I don’t think I’d ever make that cocktail, but if you want to pass one through to me a little bit later, that would be great. If I have one now I won’t be writing poetry or anything else. Happy Halloween, everyone.
Absolutely! Any drink with lime juice and rimmed with purple sugar, Yum. It will be waiting for you.
🙂
Thanks for hosting, Linda! You minded me that it is Halloween.
Sure thing, and welcome Frank!
Happy Halloween everyone! 😀 Thank you for being such a lovely hostess, Linda! ❤️

Hello Linda and All. The Witches Brew sounds tasty. Minus food color please and add a splash of cranberry juice please? Off to see what the final prompt for OctPoWriMo is and if it meshes with yours will link to here and there. Happy Halloween!
Hello Lisa- happy to have you here. One witches brew coming up sans the coloring and adding a splash a cranberry!
Thank you, Linda, and Cheers!

Always hard to choose. (the poem, not the drink–I’ll have a mulled wine please!) I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s poem over dinner!

Thanks!
Thanks for a fun prompt.

Do you know how to make a Vampiro? If not, I guess I’ll just have a Coke. Hard to find well-schooled bartenders these days.
