Welcome to our last OpenLinkNight for 2019. Whew, the year went so fast. As you know, OpenLinkNight is your opportunity to link 1 poem of your choice as this is no prompt-day. For those who missed the Mr Linky deadline the past week or this Tuesday’s poetics about “Echo..echo.,echo“, this is also your opportunity to share your poem. Out of courtesy, please link back to dVerse Poets Pub if you are sharing your poem.
Our holiday break of 2 weeks is coming up here at the pub. Where I am in Canada is freezing cold so wishing you all warm cheers and cozy reading.
The backyard is one white sheet
Where we read in the bird tracks
The songs we hear. Delicate
Sparrow, heavier cardinal,
Filigree threads of chickadee.
And wing patterns where one flew
Low, then up and away, gone
To the woods but calling out
Clearly its bright epigrams.
More snow promised for tonight.
The postal van is stalled
In the road again, the mail
Will be late and any good news
Will reach us by hand.
See you at the poetry trail. ~Grace~
Hello… I was out last night, and now I am a little behind in commenting, but I managed to link a poem at least.
Is there any mulled wine in the bar tonight?
Hello! Yes, it should be in our wine room, smiles.
it’s so dark here… so it’s more a whine room
Ha..ha… Same here, at 5pm, it is already night time. Thanks Bjorn for being here and supporting all our poets throughout the year.
Here it’s dark at 3 PM and dark until 8:30 AM…
Ugh! Dark at 3pm and until 8:30am? You need to fit one of the rooms in your house with 10,000 lux lights and set it up like a beach. You might be amazed at how well that works.
Thanks for hosting, Grace! It has been a wonderful year.
Thank you Frank for being part of our team. Looking forward to hitting the poetry trail when I get home.
Dear Grace, Compliments of the season to you all… As another year draws to a close, a new poem has only just been published on my site this week.
Hope you enjoy and look forward to reading everyone’s new stuff too tonight.
The poem you have chosen for your editorial piece by Nancy MCcleery is such a crisp one…
Hello Scott, so nice to have you here at the last Open Link for the year.
Hello Grace and All. Lovely winter poem by Nancy McCleery. The white sheet remains here as well, where the wheels of the bins for refuse and recyclables run leave tracks to the road and cross the car tire tracks.
Hello Lisa, here in Stockholm I would love to have some white sheets to brighten the darkness…
Bjorn, try putting yourself into a snowy winter scene as you drift off to sleep and see what happens.
Good evening all! Thank you for hosting, Grace. I can’t believe this is the last OLN before Christmas. Time has flown and it will soon be 2020.
Today I voted in the most controversial election I’ve known and will wake up to the outcome tomorrow morning. And it is freezing cold! I’ve been to two school nativity plays this week, both lovely, and I’ve posted all my Christmas cards – just a few to deliver by hand.
This time next week I’ll be preparing for the five-hour journey to my daughter’s to deliver Christmas presents, but will be back in time for a nice quiet couple of days with my husband and our two cats, and probably some pheasants, a robin or two, and some deer in the garden.
I’m looking forward to writing poems for Monday’s Quadrille and Tuesday’s Poetics, and am curious as to what Bjorn has in store for us for the finale on Thursday.
Ha… I am as curious as you are… I have not yet decided. I thought it would be something lighthearted
🙂
Kim, just an exciting development in your part of the world. Hope it all turns out okay.
Thank you,. Grace. This morning we woke up to the devastating news that the Conservatives will be s=remain in government and continue with Brexit. Trump has already congratulated Boris and offered a ‘great deal’!. He’d better keep his tiny hands off our NHS!
Happy OLN everyone and thank you for hosting tonight Grace! I love the poem by Nancy McCleery, so perfect for our Winter. I’m linking a haibun inspired by Tuesday’s Poetics prompt (straying a bit from the brief) and will swing by in a moment to read xxx
Hello.. look forward and will go reading.
Thank you for sharing. And congrats on your published poems – what a gem to read.
Thank you so much for your kind words dear Grace, so happy you enjoy our book! xxx
Thank you for hosting Grace. Here is one from the past. I go into the hospital tomorrow so I am feeling nostalgic for better times in Christmas’s past.
I hope it’s not too serious Rob.
Thank you Björn. 🙂 Won’t know, until the full biopsy is complete, that they are about to do, to determine the cause of the scarring on my lungs — which is suppressing my breathing and causing the continued coughing
I get nostalgic too at this time of the year. Hope you are well.
I hope they do not find anything too serious, Rob. Thinking good thoughts for you.
Hello everyone ! Happy OpenLinkNight. I am still in the office but will get back to reading and commenting on the trail. Hope you are all having a good week/end!!! Still have to do my Christmas shopping, yikes……
I posted one from my Christmas Past, not to sound like scrooge,

Thanks for hosting and for sharing “December Notes”. Since missing the light and wanting anything else that lead-grey days. My mind went to Saint Lucia Day tomorrow.
Sitting here, with only my bright screen in front of me, posting for my social media I look up and it’s night and time to find an open link for everyone at the bar. Posted from this year’s “Every Snowfall” series (just three so far.)
I’m so glad I found this community, during the April writing month. It’s been lovely to connect with poets several times a week.
Grace, Thank you for hosting and sharing the December poem. It’s wonderful. Stay warm, hopefully you have a wood stove or fireplace to cozy up to.
Thank you Ali for your lovely greetings. Enjoy your weekend.
You too.
Just got home and my poem linked up, Intentional Hope. I needed this message and thought I can’t be alone in my struggle to face the dark days. Thank you so much for all your efforts to create this community of writers. I so enjoy reading and connecting with all of you.
Take care and see you around the poetry trail.
Wishing everyone at d’Verse a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday to all!
One more week here before we take a holiday break. Wishing you happy holidays as well.
A big thank you to Grace and all the folks who make d’Verse Poets Pub such a great success. It is a great pleasure to associate and connect with all of you.
That is the magic of poetry – virtual connections around the world. Thanks for being part of our journey.
Thank you for hosting, Grace. Happy December to all! It’s been a wonderful year of poetry here.
We were at my mom’s yesterday, and the aide who was supposed to relieve us was over an hour late, so we didn’t get home till nearly 8 PM. I’ll try to post and read later today.
It’s been a poetry festival the whole year in dVerse. Thanks Merril for being part of the team.
Thanks for hosting Grace. Happy New Year! (K)
Happy new year to you too. We got one more week (next week) before our break for the holidays.
Thanks for hosting, sadly, our last night for 2019 – yes, where did the year go.
Time flies. Thanks for joining us.
Christmas is not far away and so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all, wherever you may be. The unique nature of Christmas is that for some it is a religious celebration and for others, including people of all religions, it is a celebration of our humanity which draws upon ancient pagan origins whether recognised or not.
It is a time of sharing, of giving, of loving and connecting whether one is a Muslim Indian; a Russian Christian; an American Jew; an African Hindu; a Chinese Buddhist, and that is what makes the celebration of Christmas so special.
Thank you for the beautiful message of Christmas. Wishing you happy journeys and cheers for the new year.
Hello and Happy Holidays to all! I am a bit late but, I wanted to participate in the last open link of 2019. Wishing all peace and light.
Ai am late posting, and smiling. 🙂 Ai see, as always, aI am the last one to post, which means you all had to wait for me. 😊 Ai am notorious. 😌 It is a matter of timing. 😃
