Felicitations, my fantastic poetical peeps! De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) here, and it fills me with great joy to be hosting the Quadrille today, that fun pithy little form of our own forming here at dVerse, wherein we ask you to faithfully formulate a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting the title) and including one specific word we fling your way.
This week, I’d like you to find some poetic fun with the word fill.
What will you fill your page with? Some fulfilling verse? A stable of frolicking fillies? Fill a bucket. Fill a hole. Get your fill, or fill your soul. Take us on a trip to the dentist to get a filling. We’ll even let you get away with fillet, if the words are delicious enough.
New to the Q? Here’s what to do: fill your poem-page with exactly 44 words, not counting the title, including some form of the word fill. Post your poem on your own blog, and link up using Mr. Linky below. Then get your fill of some incredible poetry by visiting the other amazing poets who’ve posted. The Quadrille is open all week, so feel free to come back for refills!
Greetings, my poetical peeps! Happy poeming today! May you get your fill of inspiration, poetry, and libations here! (I’m pouring whatever ya want!) 🙂
May I just have some herbal tea tonight…
Yessir. And I think I shall join you. It’s a strange, quiet sort of pondery day.
Days are so filled so it’s hard to get a poem in time…
I feel you, my friend. I haven’t been able to keep up with much but the Quadrilles for months.
Good evening all! Thank you, De, for the prompt, which filled me with all sorts of ideas. But, as we’ve just had a raging storm followed by snow, something yellow and springlike seemed to be the best antidote to the cold. I may only stay at my laptop for a while – it’s like a fridge in here, as the heat has not yet been restored. I hope everyone’s keeping warm – quadrilles usually help.
Sending you warm thoughts and warm drinks, Kim. And MUCH love for your beautiful piece.
Thank you, De, for the warm thoughts and drinks! If you see a weird comment or two from me this evening, it’s either because my fingers are so frozen I can’t type, or I’ve moved into the warmth of our living room with my gremlin-infested Kindle!
Heehee. Looking forward to it, Kim! (Not your frozen fingers, though, of course!)
Hello De and All. Wonderful prompt full of potential. My yard is full of snow and the apple tree is filled with cardinals, but I wrote about those yesterday. I have something else in mind. Herbal tea sounds just right, will you pour me a cup also please?
You got it, Jade. So happy you’re here.
Thank you very much, De.
Hello De and All- happy Monday. What a wonderful word. I’ll work on something, and most likely post in the AM. How is everyone? I am doing much better since I got the news that my heart is functioning just fine. My brain seems to be the problem- LOL- sending messages to my heart to speed up for no reason whatsoever. Anyhow, I am relieved I at least know what it is is, and am grateful because the news could have been much worse. I haven’t had a glass of wine in weeks, so a nice cabernet would be lovely.
Pouring you a glass of wine now, Linda Lee, and CHEERS-ing with you again about your heart health! Tell that brain to simmer down some! 😉
Haha! Thank you, and yes working on that but it has a mind of its own. 😂
LOL! pun intended!
Thanks for hosting De. My days are filled with work and outside, we are in the middle of winter cold. See you in the trail in a bit.
Hi, Grace. So happy you’re here!
Feeling some guilty for our 59-degree weather today. But if it helps any, it’s been almost freezing the past few nights, and it’s super windy today.
Hello De. Thank you for the prompt. I would like ice water with a slice of lime please. I am so filled with grief, it seems that is all I can write about these days. One day I will smile.
Toni, I am still carrying your heart in mine, as it heals. You are so loved and lifted up. Pouring you a glass of chilled water with the freshest of limes, and hoping you will always know this is a safe place to grieve, and heal.
Bless you.
Happy Monday. Storm Chiara is still roaming round the house, so a little poetry is soothing to the soul. I’m making marmalade tonight, so I’ll be back to read tomorrow. Have fun everyone.
Sounds delicious, Sarah. Some to share? 😉
Hello from San Diego — that city filled with California sunshine!!
Thanks for hosting De. Will be back later this afternoon to get my fill of reading quadrilles!!! In the meantime De, might you have a cold California Chardonnay on hand? 😎
You got it, Lil. Happy you’re here. Say hello to the ocean for me.
Hello! Hope everyone is doing well on this February winter’s day. We may get freezing rain, and possibly snow tonight. Too cold for me – bring on spring!
Thanks for hosting, De. Q44 is my favorite! 🙂
So glad you’re here! Q44 is my fave, too!
Okay, I’m in this week! Thank you for pouring and prompting. ‘Preciated.
Happy you’re here!
Me too!
Hello De, hello everyone. I have been gone so long, it is time to start back in again. Life is filled with portent and joy, not least of these is to be here with my friends at the pub. De, I would like a little glass of clear water , just the size of a thimble. Maybe someday. Good word! Love the Q’s. Lona
Pouring gently, Lona.
What a lovely prompt, posed to bring satiety of all kinds … 🙂
Left mine with the linky thinky thingy. As I settle down to read others’ quadrilles, may I have a tall glass of freshly squeezed lemonade? 🙂
Na’ama
Squeezing it now, Na’ama. 🙂
Yay! Yum! 🙂
This sound like a fulfilling prompt. Thanks for giving me something else to ponder today besides the worries I have about our planet.
The world can be quite literally all-consuming, Ali. Feeling some of that myself. Happy to help provide a distraction, of sorts. And it ALWAYS helps to write about it.
I ended up writing about listening inward. Writing always helps and I truly thank you for getting my writing tonight.
Good Evening Poets, It’s late I will read a bit and then be back tomorrow to get my fill of poetry.
Good to see you here, Truedessa.
As usual, I’m late to the quadrille party! I was struggling to come up with anything last night, and then I got involved with other things. It sounds like it was a strange night for many–filled with. . .hmmm. . .I will have to see.
Thank you for hosting, De!
Happy to see you here, Merril! Heading over soon.
Thank you for hosting this lovely prompt De! I filled my page with a haibun-quadrille last night and have just linked it up now I’m back online. I shall swing by in a moment to read xxx
Hi! Heading over in just a minute! Glad you’re here!
Time for a little fun! I’d like something warm to drink and water on the side, no ice.
You got it, Yvonne. Cheers!
Decided to try to combine the quadrille challenge with four prompt words, which was tricky. I’m always afraid I’ll miss the cutoff, so I actually posted and edited afterwards. Is there any way to let us know when the cutoff date and time is for the different prompts? Thanks for the prompt, Gizmo!
I believe the Quadrille is open through Friday or so (longer than most prompts). We used to do Monday through the following Sunday night, but I’ve notice they cut off sooner these days. You’re for sure safe for a few more days this week. 🙂
Could you possibly add a line at the end of prompts to inform when their submission time ends? I have been caught up so many times by beginning while it is still open and by the time I finish the poem, the door has closed.
I will check with Bjorn and Grace, and see what I can do. 😉
Please do note: on many prompts, Mr. Linky will tell you how long it’s open. There’s a note that says “Mr. Linky will expire in…” and how long is left on the Mr. Linky screen while you’re adding your poem. I think maybe I’m just not tech savvy enough to do that with the Quadrille, when it’s mine…
Girl, you are the QUEEN of dverse! You’ve inspired so many people to write. 🙂
Aww, thanks, Girl.
Reblogged this on stories from another perspective.
MY first try at using such a prompt hope it fits the bill
Awesome! Heading over to read it now.
Late to the party. So glad the linky is still open! Am I too late for a nice wine cocktail?
You got it, Xan. Happy to see you!
