Today we write Prosery together. The challenge is to write a piece of prose where we use a line from a piece of poetry.
Today we are looking into the poetry of Maya Angelou, and her most famous poem. “Caged bird”
And from this poem, you should use a line of seven words saying:
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
Your piece of prose can be fiction or autobiographic, but you are only allowed to use 144 words (which means that you need to add maximum137 words that are your own.
You are allowed to capitalize and punctuate the given line, but you are cannot add any text inside the quote.

Thanks for hosting, Bjorn. I adore Maya Angelou….I used to teach her novel I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in a high school African American Lit course I designed and taught many many years ago!
This poem has to be one of the most famous 20th century poems there is… and a great example that everyone can feel in their heart.
Hello Bjorn and All. Ms. Angelou and caged birds are just right for a prompt.
It’s overcast with brief spots of sun. It’s close enough for the plants to be leaping upward. Mr. Froggy (only one now) in the front ditch appears to be hunkered in the mud as the water trickles away. Sipping hot coffee with almond milk.

We are open for a week so take all the time you need… this challenge is one I’m starting like.
Oh, I know. I have to pace myself with challenges as they are real time thieves. Of course, that’s because I read all the entries… or up to a certain point.

Hello Bjorn and All- Thanks for hosting Bjorn, and thank you for an interesting prompt. It’s pleasant here today, only 95 degrees and breezy. Going to work on something now.
We have temperatures around 40 (Fahrenheit) but it’s good for brisk walking.
Good evening all! Thank you, Björn for hosting today, and for the Maya Angelou quote, an excellent prompt. Lill,I also love that novel. I’ve read so much about Angelou’s life, but I’m not surprised when I find out there’s more – she was an extraordinary woman.
We’ve had strange weather this weekend: yesterday was very windy, overcast and chilly, while today was mostly sunny with high winds. We hope to see the temperature rise by the end of the week.
However, the situation in the UK has changed with regard to the corona virus: some people disregarded all the warnings and restrictions before Boris Johnson announced an easing of the lockdown – not wise considering South Korea and Germany have seen spikes in their numbers again, with possibly a second wave. I’m staying at home.
I hope you all had a pleasant weekend and a good start to the week.
It has turned colder again here in Sweden… but we are working from home only allowing ourselves some walks in the cold winds.
Here nothing much has changed on Corona… many still stay at home… and there are indications that the numbers of newly infected are decreasing. They say that in Stockholm maybe 30 percent has had the infection…

I am sorry for that… it was available in Sweden despite being from the US… the poem is in many places, but maybe not in this version.

I was looking for the earlier stories but need to go to town to get money.. Just as I was preparing to leave, a plane flew over directing us to stay at home and wear masks..We’ll see how stringent that direction is..as I must go to the bank.

I had to sleep on this one, so I’m writing early on a clear blue morning. Looking out, I think there might have been a touch of frost in the valley, but not up here.
I wonder if yours will be brighter than the rest if you write them in daylight.

I to both am and feel behind on writing and reading. Had to sleep on the quote, and it turned into a dark story. Which reflects my mood.
Waiting for spring/presummer warmth, but that seems at least a week away.
