Leafheart photo by De Jackson
Greetings, my poeming peeps! De Jackson, aka WhimsyGizmo, here. Let’s have a little heart-to-heart. 💙
You wanna know what I heart? The Quadrille! That tasty little morsel of a poem that marches to the beat of its own drum at just 44 words, including one word we here at dVerse provide. And wheeee, it’s Quadrille Monday here at the bar, when those wee poems fly, and one word’s the star!
Know what else I love? A good hearty poem!
So today…
Write us something that nearly gives us a heart attack. Come to us with your heart in your hands. Heart us a song, a storm or a story. Who was your teenage heartthrob? Pull at our heartstrings. Whether your poem is heartwarming or heartbreakingly coldhearted, just make sure it’s exactly 44 words (not including the title) and contains some form of the word heart. Heartbeat, heartland, heartfelt, heartless, heartache, heartburn, heartwood, heartworm.
Of course, many famous poets and writers have had plenty to say on the subject.

It’s where home is. We sometimes wear it on our sleeves. And remember this guy? He needed one.

New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Put your heart into it, and pen us a poem of precisely 44 words (not counting the title), including some form of the word heart. Post the poem on your own blog, and link your poem to Mr. Linky below. Then make your way around the links to read some of the heartiest poets around!
Now take heart, beat it, and write us a poem!

Hello… I do love that it’s Quadrille again… getting it all down to 44 words is what poetry should be.

Yes! Tiny poems for the win! Happy to see you here, Bjorn!

Greetings, poets! Happy writing today! I hope your whole heart is in it, and if not, I’ve got some cocktails and mocktails to get that beat going. What’re ya drinkin’?

Hello De and All. I love this prompt, which has inspired me to write my first poem about my new grandbaby (born in April.) It’s cooler here today but bone dry. We need rain badly. If you’re pouring, one pint of Blakes Strawberry Lemonade Cider please 🙂
whimsygizmo said:
You got it, Lisa! Sounds delicious. And so does that new grand baby! Congratulations!

Thanks De and Cheers!

That E.E. Cummings poem is one of my favorites.

Mine, too, Merril. I LOVE your poem. I want to be there. Sigh.

Hello De! So much fun watching all the vids here! This prompt matched nicely with a FB prompt that a friend gave me! I suppose, since I got in here so early, that I’ll just have a sparkling water for now since I have to go back to work, but keep a nice white chilled for later!

You’ve got it! Cheers!

However am I to write a poem while I am writhing, moving, twisting, grooving to Huey? Whew … hand me a cold one please! Your choice.

Here ya go, Helen. Cheers!

Good evening De and everyone!
I’m always looking forward to Quadrille Monday’s. Tonight my head and heart agreed it was time for another alliteration Quadrille. 🙂
whimsygizmo said:
LOVE it, RedCat! 🙂
RedCat said:
Thank you again! For me alliteration is one of those things that either flow or won’t work at all. I had no idea how it would end until I wrote the last line. 😀

dVerse pubmasters and drinkers – please help me come up with a better title for my piece. I like where I went with it, but I couldn’t come up with a title for the life of me!

I have a link to share. About eight years ago, for another DVerse prompt, I wrote a piece that is specifically heart centric, if not a Quadrille. Today’s prompt brought it to mind. I’ll be back in a bit with a quadrille contribution.

In some wordprees blogs, I am unable to post comment, it keeps showing error. Pity, that I am unable to comments on those lovely poems on wordpress blog 😦
whimsygizmo said:
Vandana, that happens to me with blogspot and personal blogs sometimes. I’ve found if I open them in Firefox instead of Safari, I can comment. Weird, but that’s been my workaround. Maybe try a different browser for those blogs? Or feel free to comment here in the comments. Thanks for making the rounds!
