Hey there, fellow scribblers of phraseology! De Jackson here, aka WhimsyGizmo, touching base with you today with my all-time favorite poetry prompt, the Quadrille. If you’re new or need a refresher, the Quadrille is a pocket-sized form of our own creation here at dVerse: a poem of just 44 words (not counting the title), including one word we provide.
Today, I’d like you to tangle with the word touch.
(A touch of the erotic, from E.E. Cummings.)
Don’t touch that dial! Write a touching poem or give us a touch of grim and gore. Touch a nerve. Touch on a poetic subject you haven’t before. Throw in a touch of rhythm and rhyme (or don’t). Touchdown. Touchstone. Touchscreen. “Tetched” in the head.
And hey, who am I to judge if you choose to have the word French kiss its way into more of a: touché. So long as you’ve got some literal form of the word touch in your piece, you’re good to go.
…but you have all week to write touch poems!
New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Touch those keys and pen us a poem of precisely 44 words, not counting the title, and using some form of the word touch. When you’ve put the finishing touches on your piece, post it to your own blog and link up using the Mr. Linky below. Then keep in touch with your fellow wordsmiths by making your way around the blogosphere to read and comment. The Quadrille is open all week, so be sure to touch base with us later in the week to read and write some more!
Still stuck? Reach down and try to touch your toes and give your endorphins a good spike (and if you’re anything like me – your brain a good spin).
And here’s musical inspiration to keep you in touch with your muse:
Out of Touch – Hall & Oates
Touch you once, touch you twice…(If You Leave, OMD)
Love Touch – Rod Stewart
U Can’t Touch This – MC Hammer

Gillena, I have tried two different days and three separate search engines, and still cannot comment on your poem.
I loved the pondering of this line, especially:
“What of sunset”
I anticipate that question nearly every day, with great joy.

A quadrille subject close to my heart and fingertips, De! It has taken me a few tickles and teases to whittle down to 44 and the journey has been worth the effort, despite trying to enter my link on an expired Mr Linky!
I’ll top up my tea and raise a daffodil to you in the rain, before I visit other touching quadriquotes.
whimsygizmo said:
I’ve double-checked Mr. Linky, and it’s working fine on this end. Hope you worked it out!
whimsygizmo said:
If you post your link here in the comments, I’ll link it up for you.

Thanks for your help on my behalf, De!
