Hello all, once again we have dVerse Open Link Night, and as usual we both provide an optional (simple) prompt, but since it is Open Link, you may opt to link up any on poem you have.
The mini prompt today is green.
Here in Sweden the first green will start to show after a long winter. If you live in the southern hemisphere the lush green might slowly start to shift towards the wilted brown or yellow hues.
If you live in the tropic, green might be your every day, or if you live in the desert, green might be rare.
You may also be green in terms of being inexperienced or you may be green with envy. Recalling being discarded by your first real love.
As inspiration consider, which uses the green as that of youth in his poem about ageing.
The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
by Dylan Thomas
The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever
The force that drives the water through the rocks
Drives my red blood; that dries the mouthing streams
Turns mine to wax.
And I am dumb to mouth unto my veins
How at the mountain spring the same mouth sucks.
The hand that whirls the water in the pool
Stirs the quicksand; that ropes the blowing wind
Hauls my shroud sail.
And I am dumb to tell the hanging man
How of my clay is made the hangman’s lime.
The lips of time leech to the fountain head;
Love drips and gathers, but the fallen blood
Shall calm her sores.
And I am dumb to tell a weather’s wind
How time has ticked a heaven round the stars.
And I am dumb to tell the lover’s tomb
How at my sheet goes the same crooked worm.
If you want to, you may also take inspiration from Dylan’s poem, or maybe by Kermit’s song.
but since it is Open Link you are free to link up any poem you want as long as you link back to dVerse.
Once you have linked up to the poem directly on your blog you can read the other’s poem, comment below if your want to, visit other entries and have fun reading the other contributions.
If you feel up to it, join us at the live session on Saturday at 10 AM est by following the link below.

If you cannot participate there will be a recording here if everyone accepts to be recorded.

Good evening poets and thank you for hosting, Björn. I’ll be dropping by in the morning and will be joining you on Saturday for OLN Live.
Nice, and we will have so much fun on Saturday
Welcome everyone, the bar is stocked with all kind of refreshments… we have craft beer, cider, whisky and rye… also excellent non-alcoholic alternatives. To eat I have just made som bread and we have all kind of charkuteries, olives and cheese… enjoy.
Thanks for hosting Björn. I have edited my poem “Soul Box” a bit further, so I posted it here. Right now I plan to participate in OLN Live this Saturday.🤞🏼 It’s been a few months for me since my last, and I miss the community. Can’t promise I will be fully awake… 🥱🤤 …but I will try hard to be there. ✌🏼🫶🏼
If you want to participate without video it is totally OK 🙂
Damn — I made a mistake Björn. I had not intended to repost the link to my edited “Soul Box” poem here. I already reposted it back on the (Box Of Poems) prompt. You can please remove the link to my “Soul Box” here. The only link I intended here was for my “Fiery Emerald” poem. Sorry! 🤷🏻
Will do that and read your poem
thank you Björn 🙂👍🏼✌🏼🫶🏼
Thanks for hosting. A whisky with cheese on rye please.
That’s a good suggestion… coming up
Hello, Björn and all my friends at dVerse! I am working on a green cento right now. If you have any pistachio ice cream behind the bar, I would love some.
Not sure if I will be there Saturday.😞 Soccer season is here. And the trees are going green.🌳
Great to see you going with the prompt… and of course we have pistachio ice cream… not a lot of green here yet.
Hi Björn. I have incorporated your mini prompt. I liked the poem you shared. I will try to join the OLN live to just listen in.
I look forward to have you listen in, it would be so great to hear you read one time
Thanks, Björn. Hopefully one day I will.
Alarm clock is SET! See you bright and early Saturday. Might I request hot, black coffee from the Pub Bar? And, since I will not have eaten breakfast, a scone?
Of course we will have coffee for you, and maybe a beer for myself.
Bedtime here, the bar is now self serve, but I will be back tomorrow to wipe up and do the dishes.
I can’t participate but that poem by Dylan was SUPER-GOOD :) I re-read it a couple of times. That wordplay and contrast is two mouthfulls! Thank you for sharing this awesome poem.
I liked it too, but I love it too as well as the reading
Hello dVersers and thanks for hosting, Bjorn! Am already sipping on my wine at home….so will pass on the self-serve bar. Looking forward to joining everyone on Saturday LIVE – always a fun crowd!
Indeed… and this time I hope to be able to leave a recording as well 🙂
Hello Bjorn and All. A little late but here. I decided to link up already written poem(s.) A pint of craft cider and fresh-made bread with cheese and both green and kalamata olives would be perfect if you have them.
I can’t make the live read on Saturday. Am going to my granddaughter’s 3rd birthday party. Can’t believe she is approaching 3 years old already.
You will have a great birthday party… and I hope that you found the excellent cider with bread chees and olives.
Thanks, Bjorn, and yes, I did. Cheers! 🙂
Thanks for hosting Bjorn – I am linking up late but, I will be back tomorrow to read. Happy Poetry Everyone!
Thank you for hosting Bjorn! I am linking late but, I will be back tomorrow to read
I’ve added a poem that is rather greenish!
Have been enjoying reading everyone’s poetry!
I am just about going to read the poems.
Thanks for hosting Björn – I hope to be there tomorrow but may have an important family commitment…
It was so nice with the reading yesterday
Thank you for hosting OLN Bjorn
I enjoyed it too… so much fun.
Thank you for hosting, Bjorn. )
Thank you for participating.
Greetings, everyone! Will be sharing my latest poem, while working on something ‘green’ artistically. If anyone fancies reading the poem on the Live event in my stead, I would not mind ❤
Kim did a wonderful reading of your poem… it is included in the second video above.
Hi Björn and all–I’ve been trying to finish a work project, but just wrote a poem for the green prompt, a golden shovel. I plan to attend the live event tomorrow morning.
I enjoyed your poem and reading a lot… and I do not mind to read it again.
Thank you! 😊
Posted one that went a bit unnoticed last time and might again now.
Hope I can join you later as it will be in the middle of the day today.
Hence just an alcohol free beer this time, Erdinger Weizen is one that tastes almost like the original with alcohol.
And thanks for hosting, Björn!
A pleasure… so nice to meet online.
I just had the most wonderful time putting faces and voices to the poetry I’ve been reading on dVerse Poets for so many years! Saturday Live is a joy to observe, listen to and participate in. So sorry I arrived an hour or more late. Hopefully I’ll figure out the time change better next time. Rob and Helen, thanks for hanging around and talking to me afterwards.
And now we can relive it with the recorded part when we like it.
Good as always, to see and hear everyone at Saturday LIVE!
It was a lot of fun…
Here is mine for today!
Surviving my past poetry for open link night at D-verse – Therapy Bits
