Are you confused?
It’s Monday, right?
But it’s also Quadrille Monday, and time again for my favorite prompt, in which we pen poems of precisely 44 words, including one word we provide.
De Jackson here, aka WhimsyGizmo. And on this fine April Quadrille Monday, I’d like us to try a little something different. We’re goin’ proper noun all up in here…This week, I want you to frolic with the word Friday.

(This was a favorite childhood book of mine by author Mary Rodgers long before it was a movie. And its first silver screen debut was still in the 70s, with Jodie Foster.)
Freaky, right? But fun!
You could write about about Black Friday, Friday Night Lights, or a Girl Friday. Friday’s Child. Friday the 13th. Good Friday. That Friday Feeling. Joe Friday from Dragnet. First Friday (does anybody else have this cool Arts District event in their area on the first Friday of the month?)
Pick a Friday, any Friday. Then flail those typing fingers, and let your Friday freak flag fly!
You can even have some fun with it, of course. Celebrate French Fries Day (in case you’re wondering, National French Fry Day is celebrated on the second Friday in July). Or Fry Day (fish, anyone? some shrimp?) Or revel in Fri-YAY. Or try your hand at turning it into a verb. What would it mean to Friday the heck out of a situation? Or maybe it’s an adjective. Are you feeling Fri-dazed? You get it.
Got it? Okay, here are a few famous poets writing about Friday:
Good Friday, by Christina Rossetti:

Excerpts from Browning and Sexton…

And you can get some more Friday poem inspiration at Hello Poems here:
New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Don’t start feelin’ all fried. Just pen us a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting the title), including some form of the word Friday. Post your poem on your own blog, and link up using the Mr. Linky below. Then make your way around the webs to visit some of the most talented poets around. The Quadrille prompt is always open all week (through Friday), so be sure to come back and read and write some more!
And you know I never leave you without a song or two. Let’s pretend it really is Friday, and have a dance-off.
