Greetings, poeming friends! De Jackson, aka WhimsyGizmo here.
It’s that time again: Quadrille Monday, when we spin ’round our keyboards, our pens and our quills, and share poems of exactly 44 words – including one word we here at dVerse provide.

Today, I want you to put your poems on spin cycle.

An excerpt from “Spinning,” by Helen Hunt Jackson. Read the rest of the poem here.

Take a spin around Hello:Poetry for more spun poems, here

Let’s play spin the bottle. Go to spin class. Write a spin cycle laundry poem. Spin us a yarn, a web of lies, or some poetry gold. Bring out your fidget-spinners, your spiders, your sitcom spin-offs, your Rumpelstiltskin spinning wheel. You can even write about spinach if you please, or better yet, a spin-acheSpin the Wheel of Fortune, or just keep spinning your wheels

Backspin. Spindrift. Spinnaker. Spinneret. Spinster. Spindle. There are a million ways to take a poetry spin around this Quadrille dance floor, so long as you give your poem a little spin and use only 44 words in total. You might just wind up with spun gold

New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Don’t go into a tailspin. Just spin us a poem of precisely 44 words (not counting the title), containing some form or other of the word spin. Post the poem on your own blog and link up using the Mr. Linky below. Then spin out into that beautiful blogosphere to enjoy all the amazing poems. Some of the most incredible poets spin their stories right here at dverse. The Q is open all week long, so be sure to come back and take a second spin around the track.

Speaking of tracks, let me spin you a record or two (or three) to get you in the mood…

Spin Me Round – Dead or Alive

Spin You Around – Morgan Wallen

Spinning Wheel – Blood, Sweat, & Tears
