** Announcement**
NOTE: 2024’s last dVerse LIVE will be on Saturday, December 14th from 10 to 111 AM, New York time (Eastern Standard Time). The link to join will be embedded in Thursday’s OLN prompt.
Hello, my dear regulars and the newcomers! Today is special. For today is the very last Quadrille Monday of this calendar year! (Drum rolls, please)
2024, like many of its predecessors, was/is(🤔) a mixed bag year. Elections, wars, freak weather were some of the highlights or maybe the low points. And yet, all is never lost. We always have hope by our side.
So let’s end this year with a “bang” with a hope that 2025 will be year of peace, of better choices and more importantly of tolerance and not hatred.
As you may have guessed, our word for tonight’s quadrille, which is a poem of exactly 44 words, not including the title, should have the word “bang” in it. It could be about getting bangs, getting bang for the buck, bang against the wall, being bang on, banger of a song, banger and mash, of course The Big Bang Theory and so forth.
Here are a few excerpts from some poems to inspire you.
- Big Bang Theory by Black Narcissus
Big bang, they say, big bang, big bang, big bang;
then sit back as though everything is said,
but that does not explain the whole shebang
and what I read is far above my head.
They talk at length of singularity,
to me that means just one … Do ones go boom?
Science gives us theories of evolution
As they try to explain away creation
Bang!, and the universe was born
Night brings the stars then fades into dawn

- Big Bang Theory by Joseph May
But there is order in planets and stars
Was that accidental?, or a theory too far
Just one look around, just one glance
To wonder if all this came about by chance?
- Bang, Bang, Bang by Melissa Schreuder
He points his finger, and yells
‘Bang, bang, bang! ‘He pretends
He’s a cow boy shooting
All the bad guys away
‘Bang, bang, bang! ‘.
His mother yells ‘it’s time
For breakfast Jordan’
He points his finger into his pocket
And yells ‘bang, mommy help me,
I shot myself in the leg with my own gun’.

- Bang by Felix BlackHeart
I want to just be,
alone in my head,
With these thoughts so long,
I’m up late at night,
with these thought going by,
It’s now 6 am,
and I’m still up,
Haven’t slept in 6 days,
Because I’m thinking of you,
I need to sleep,
I wan to be,
So I’ll get my gun,
it’s the only way,
I put it too my head,
I pull back the trigger,
And….*bang*
- Bangs by Roberta Frosty
Last night I had a little too much to drink.
How much is too much?
Hmmm, lemme think…
I.
Got.
Bangs.
I got bangs! Did you hear me?
I got ******* bangs!
But this wasn’t a pro job…
I gave myself bangs.
Are the bangs a good haircut?
Do the bangs frame my face?
All solid questions;
It depends on your taste:
- Walls are useful things by Andrew John
That neighbour has just banged his door.
Again yet again and yet again.
I, a one of superior quality, wishes to beat
his barking bonce against the wall of his rathole.
But there’d be no grey matter
to dribble down the concrete.
An ugly slimy mush would not be excreted
from that crumbly, crinkly, brainless brainpan.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the last Quadrille of the year! I am looking forward to your entries. Winter has finally set in here in Delhi. For drinks I especially have Baltimore Bang and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. For our regulars we have the bar stocked with their favourite drinks. For teetotalers we have dalgona coffee and masala chai along with the carrot cake I made this afternoon.
Omg carrot cake.🤤 Hi Punam!😅 I’ll have an extra big slice.
Hi Melissa. Two slices for you. 😃
Good evening all, and thank you for hosting the final Quadrille of the year, Punam. I got back from my daughter’s yesterday and need a week to recuperate! It was lovely spending time with Ellen and the boys, but it was hard work looking after them on my own. I’m going back again in January while her husband is away on business, and then back again in March for Lucas’ seventh birthday. Bang was a challenging word – I hope you like my quadrille.
Hello Kim. Oh dear, you do sound happy but tired. It must have been a very hectic time. Boys can br a handful.
Would you like something warm to drink?
I am sure your Q will be a banger!
A hot chocolate, please, Punam! Lucas was very helpful, but two-year-old Louie was difficult, especially when it came to bed time. We all ended up in the big bed and they both went straight to sleep!
They will have such wonderful memories of grandma!
A hot chocolate for you.
Thank you, Punam.
You are welcome.
Hello Punam and All. I got a bang out of banging out a bang poem. Not sure what a Baltimore Bang is but will you please pour me one?
Hello Li! Am I glad you had a banging time!
A Baltimore Bang is a cocktail with bourbon and apricot brandy. Coming up for you right away.
Oh no, I usually get myself into trouble drinking bourbon, but what the heck 😉 Cheers!
I’ll join you. Cheers.
Hi Punam, Thank you for hosting. I am out in the city and will read once I get home. I like to have a bit of masala chai and carrot cake please. Happy to join in our last Q word of 2024.
Hi Grace. When you reach home, you will find masala chai and a large slice of carrot cake waiting for you . Thanks for joining in.
p.s. new Scorpion tune for me. Good rock and rollin tune!
👍🏼🙂
Good evening. a bang of a word to use for a quadrille… love it.
Good evening, Björn. Glad you enjoyed it.
I banged it up good. Coffee, please!
Great. Coffee coming up right away.
Keep the bangers coming in, folks. Will see ya all in the morning.
all banged up.
Much❤️💚love
Great, Gillena!❤️
I think the most suitable tea for this occasion could only be Chinese gunpowder tea!
Highly original presentation there my friend, hope to do it some justice…!
Oh! Never had it before. So I will pour a cup for you and one for myself too.
Thanks, Ain. Well, you hardly ever disappoint.
A banging good prompt, Punam! Thanks for hosting. I think I would like an iced mug of cold sparkling cider! A slice of that Carrot Cake sounds wonderful!
Hi Dwight. An iced mug of cold sparkling cider for you along with a slice of carrot cake.
Yum!

Many thanks for hosting Punam, indeed out with a bang. I’m wondering what winter in Delhi looks like? 🙂
My pleasure, Paul. About till a decade back Delhi looked lovely during winters. Now it is smoggy, hazy and polluted. 😐
