Hello my friends of Verse and dVerse,
Today it’s your chance to link up any one poem of yours. It could be an old poem that maybe has not received the right attention, it may be a poem you have rewritten (or updated), or it could of course be a totally new poem.
Maybe you have missed one of our recent or old prompts or if you prefer you can use this week’s miniprompt.
With times changing and listening a lot to history podcasts I thought about the writing and reading of letters. Personally I have always struggled with letter writing, and I remember sitting with a blank piece of paper trying to write a thank you letter to my grandmother for my Christmas gifts.
I realize this is a lost craft, but when we study history we realize that apart from court-documents it is our most valuable source of information about time passed. Today we have gone from letters to emails into chats to communicate, and I wonder if all will be lost in the future.

You can do whatever way you want with this prompt,
You may write an epistolary poem as been prompted before by Sanaa or by Punam
You may explore a messenger thread from your phone or you may even write an ekphrastic poem to the picture above.
But as usual with OLN you may link up any one poem of your liking to Mr Linky
Please read and comment on as many as you can on the poems and take part in the discussions below.
Good evening… the bar is open. Today’s special is some special mead made from summer honey and fresh baked bread with cheese and butter. I also have all the other stuff, warm and cold…. see you out on the trail from now until the bar closes.
Would love a slice of bread with cheese and butter .. the warmer the bread, the better! How about a nice Pinot Noir to go with it? I composed my nutty poem last week in anticipation of Open Link this evening, thanks Bjorn.
Fabolous writing Helen, and of course there is Pinot Noir… I can offer you a good Gevrey-Chambertin. Does that sounds good.
Had to do a bit of research!! Oh yes, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin, red and robust would do just fine!
🙂 of course I wanted to go French for a Pinot
Today’s special sounds perfect, thanks Bjorn. And it so happens that a little thing I tossed off yesterday fits the mini-prompt rather nicely.
Great, i look forward to read it.
Mmm…the scent of fresh baked bread… You’re right about letter writing, Bjorn, it does seem to be a lost craft. Hope you all are doing well~
Maybe we should find way to preserve it…
The art of handwritten notes seems to be lost. Sometimes, I buy blank cards and write my own notes. It feels more personal.
Blank cards sounds like a great idea….
linked up! thank you ❤
Great -looking forward to read
Linked an older collaboration that fits with your theme…thanks!
Great… collaboration and letters go well together.
Oh I love this prompt. Letter writing is already a forgotten art It saddens me.
I struggle with time recently; so much I want to squeeze out of my day. But this slow poke doesn’t have the tools for going any faster than a turtle—my spirit animal, after all. I just don’t understand speed. Anyway, I have a penpal newsletter that I send out to friends once monthly (as I said to Kim) any WP letter aficionado is invited to sign up to receive my letters. Hehe. Just saying.
Anyway, I’ll try to post something for this prompt. Bless you BjÖrn. And all at dVerse. 🤗
Indeed, the letters are still there when it comes to adressing a community…
Yes. 👍🏽
Thank you for hosting OLN Bjorn 🙂
You’re welcome Paul
🙂
Hi Björn, I am a little late to the party. Nonetheless, I couldn’t miss the prompt, so posting mine…
I am a little late checking out what has been linked up… look forward to read it.
Hello Bjorn and All. “A day late and a dollar short” as my mom used to say. Good optional prompts. Since I went for a drive to the little inland lake yesterday, it was easy to write the epistolary poem to it.
Glad you liked the prompt… and now I will get to read it
❤
A day late as I was midway in the (long) process of creating a cento from 43 poems from the Postcard Poetry Festival when your prompt came through, serendipitously, about letter writing…
I have just had breakfast and put the finishing touches to the post so a mid-morning cup of coffee would be grand, please!
I look forward to read your enty, a little bit late now for coffee, so I hope you managed to find one for yourself at the bar 🙂
