Hello all, Björn here, we have now passed the Autumn Equinox. Evenings come early and we are entering  a darker period here in the Northern Hemisphere. Here some of the trees are already showing some red and orange, but while mornings are chilly, we may still have some time to experience some warmth from the sun. Soon it will be time to bring in the flowers from their summer time on the balcony. This early part of autumn is one of comfort but I know that we will have darkness and autumn rain. I am hoping to forage for mushrooms but so far there have not been a lot to find.

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

I visited an exhibition about his art and it was so interesting. You probably recognize him for his art nouveau posters for everything from theaters to advertising soap. In the second part of his Career he returned from Paris to his homeland of Czechoslovakia and painted a series of paintings called The Slav Epic depicting the history of the slave people around the world and especially Czechs. He died in 1939 just before the beginning of the full outbreak of the second world war. His paintings had to be hidden under Nazi occupation.
