My name is Claudia and…it’s Valentine’s day today…
no big deal where I live but depending on where you are, you may have already woke to a bunch of red roses next to your bed or your bed is full with tiny crumbs from fresh baked baguette because your lover just surprised you with a wonderful breakfast…
Maybe you’re going out for dinner, sitting next to each other, candles on the table, looking deep in your partner’s eyes…and suddenly you realize…goodness…it’s OpenLinkNight..!!
Ha…smiles… no worries..we will wait for you..
We have prepared some lovely Valentine’s drinks in the pub…most of them colored pink…we will play some really romantic music..and yes…feel free to dance and whisper the love of your life some carefully crafted sensual verse into the ear…and if you kiss her…we will surely applaud…
So here’s to the candy hearts and perfumed love letters, to those who ignore Valentine’s day as a principle and to those who just can’t wait to read some romantic and not so romantic poetry…
Have fun poets..and see you on the trail…
Here’s how it works..
- Post a poem to your blog,
- Link your poem to dVerse (1 per blog, please) by clicking on the Mr.Linky button below.
- This opens a new screen where you’ll enter your information, and where you also choose links to read. Once you have pasted your poem’s blog url and entered your name, click Submit. Don’t worry if you don’t see your name right away.
- Don’t forget to let your readers know where you’re linking up and encourage them to participate by including a link to dVerse in your blog post.
- Visit as many other poems/poets as you like or can, letting others know what you think about their poem or how it moved you. You may learn something that helps you progress or even make a new friend.
- Spread the word on the poems you enjoy if you’d like. Feel free to tweet and share on the social media of your choice.

Couldn’t decide if mine is a love poem or not. I’ll leave it to you all!
Luke Prater said:
I think mine may be the opposite of love-poem
Joseph Harker said:
After reading: I’d call it the opposite of a lust-poem; the negative aspects of the erotic, rather than the negative aspects of the romantic, although there could be more of a story hidden beneath. Packs a punch, however one chooses to see it.
Luke Prater said:
Yes, agreed
Ginny said:
Yes, I’d say quite the opposite. A haunting unraveling of the brutishness.

May you celebrate the love in your life!

Not the least bit chirpy Luke, if that’s the same as “lovey dovey”. I don’t do sappy very well. LOL.

Hi, Claudia!!! Anthony Desmond must have taken pity on the middle-aged guy and let him in the door first. Holler if you need a rest back there.
This week’s linked poem was posted last week. No love poem, though there is one in the #1 slot of A Thing for Words, if anyone wants to hear me be romantic poet guy again. 🙂 xox

Ola Claudia, I’m still working on mine. Hope I get it up before Mr. Linky closes. I have a house full of workmen. I got new blinds, the outside is being repaired and newly painted. The inside things that are creaky and broken are getting repaired. Good time of year here, not so achingly hot but yesterday it rained..thank heaven, and the guys did work inside. Today both places. I am working around that. So I’ll have one up and read if fate wills. If not…you know I’m sending heartfelt Valentine love to my fellow poets, colleagues, comrades-in-words!
claudia said:
over here it’s snowing… heartfelt valentine love to you as well gay…and hope you manage to get an island of rest in the repairing trouble..
Gay Reiser Cannon said:
Ah. they are doing the work. I got something written. Hopefully (at the very least) it’s SEXY! And dances!
Becky Sain said:
I’m totally hoping it’s not love poems or bust today… I think I’m the anti-love poem. Maybe not…. yes, yes I am.
Buddah Moskowitz said:
I read your poem and while it may not have love, it’s got passion to burn. Highly recommended!
hedgewitch said:
While I am all for l’amour, my opinion of the idea of designating a special day to show love in as gaudy, expensive and material a way as possible is about as high as the one I have of the current state of Christmas, and I know everyone remembers how enthusiastic that makes me(!) so my poem tonight should surprise no one, though I must admit, it was fun to write. Look forward to seeing some more mushy stuff out there on the poetry trail. ;_)
claudia said:
we crown you the new fairy tale queen hedge..smiles
Buddah Moskowitz said:
Happy Valentine’s Day to lovers everywhere! Thanks for hosting Claudia, but don’t you think you went a tad overboard with all the doilies? 🙂

More of an opposite of love piece….don’t do the ‘mushy stuff’ well. Not dark enough. 😉

You could always kill your date at the end of the night!
markwindham said:
Just for the record…i can be romantic, just not write it. Dinner with wife and kids, wine, roses, chocolates, chocolate covered strawberries…. only my writing is dark.

Hello Claudia and everyone else!!
Happy Valentine’s Day for those who follow, and just a Happy Day for those who don’t! LOL!
I have posted another poem in “The Nightingale’s Song” saga…Part II, “Moon Child”.
I didn’t think I had anything else to write concerning “Lord and Lady Nyo”, but this was a strange start again to this series. It came in part from a dream (I really have to stop eating right before bed….burp) and an unconscious memory of a short story I read many years ago about walking on the moon, climbing up to it on a ladder. I can’t remember the author, but I think he was Italian.
So! I hope to get to make better rounds this week and expand my reading. I need to, as I am drying up here like a fallen leaf.
Cheers!
Lady Nyo

I guess I am one who has never wanted the red heart box of candy or any other token of Valentine’s Day. I guess that makes me the Ebenezer Scrooge of the Day…Amen. My husband’s note yesterday morning said in a ps: Valentine’s Day! ( just to remind me it’s not about his forgetting). I save the daily 5:00 am notes and now have quite a collection. They are my everyday Valentines.
The poem I am posting was written last October
