My name is Claudia and…it’s Valentine’s day today…
no big deal where I live but depending on where you are, you may have already woke to a bunch of red roses next to your bed or your bed is full with tiny crumbs from fresh baked baguette because your lover just surprised you with a wonderful breakfast…
Maybe you’re going out for dinner, sitting next to each other, candles on the table, looking deep in your partner’s eyes…and suddenly you realize…goodness…it’s OpenLinkNight..!!
Ha…smiles… no worries..we will wait for you..
We have prepared some lovely Valentine’s drinks in the pub…most of them colored pink…we will play some really romantic music..and yes…feel free to dance and whisper the love of your life some carefully crafted sensual verse into the ear…and if you kiss her…we will surely applaud…
So here’s to the candy hearts and perfumed love letters, to those who ignore Valentine’s day as a principle and to those who just can’t wait to read some romantic and not so romantic poetry…
Have fun poets..and see you on the trail…
Here’s how it works..
- Post a poem to your blog,
- Link your poem to dVerse (1 per blog, please) by clicking on the Mr.Linky button below.
- This opens a new screen where you’ll enter your information, and where you also choose links to read. Once you have pasted your poem’s blog url and entered your name, click Submit. Don’t worry if you don’t see your name right away.
- Don’t forget to let your readers know where you’re linking up and encourage them to participate by including a link to dVerse in your blog post.
- Visit as many other poems/poets as you like or can, letting others know what you think about their poem or how it moved you. You may learn something that helps you progress or even make a new friend.
- Spread the word on the poems you enjoy if you’d like. Feel free to tweet and share on the social media of your choice.
…morning brings we fallen mortals forgiveness and hope…
Couldn’t decide if mine is a love poem or not. I’ll leave it to you all!
I think mine may be the opposite of love-poem
After reading: I’d call it the opposite of a lust-poem; the negative aspects of the erotic, rather than the negative aspects of the romantic, although there could be more of a story hidden beneath. Packs a punch, however one chooses to see it.
Yes, agreed
Yes, I’d say quite the opposite. A haunting unraveling of the brutishness.
May you celebrate the love in your life!
Thanks for hosting, Claudia ❤
Joe? How in the world did you get number 1? Anthony must have been distracted 🙂
LOVE YOU ALL!
… so what’s a Swamp Lantern’s?
happy valentines’s and happy open link night poets!!
looking forward to an atmospheric night of poetry
I was inspired by yesterday’s Pretzel’s and Bullfights. The valentine connection is purely coincidental… I swear. Happy Love Day everyone!
you’re not posting anything too chirpy are you? You realise you may have to change your name… and pic
Not the least bit chirpy Luke, if that’s the same as “lovey dovey”. I don’t do sappy very well. LOL.
How romantic that would be, Claudia! Does anyone here really get those things on Valentine’s Day? = )
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
Hubs got me tulips and is cooking me steak tonight. 🙂
funny…got my wife tulips and i cooked her steak tonight too….
Awesome!
Rock it out poets! Cuddles and hugs 😉
Mine is a poem of divine love – the most valuable kind! Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Hey Claudia, can I get a pink martini, please? 🙂 Peace, Linda
smiles…i think pink martini is just the right drink to go with divine love…enjoyed your poem linda
The cat is not so romantic it’s true at least on this day that comes due!..haha
we have some pink milk for the cat…smiles

good to see you made it here luke…i mean after the orgy at FB…smiles
Thanks for hosting, Claudia.
always a pleasure…
Hi, Claudia!!! Anthony Desmond must have taken pity on the middle-aged guy and let him in the door first. Holler if you need a rest back there.
This week’s linked poem was posted last week. No love poem, though there is one in the #1 slot of A Thing for Words, if anyone wants to hear me be romantic poet guy again. 🙂 xox
Happy Valnetines!!!
Thank you for hosting this weeks link up Claudia 🙂
happy valentines to you as well suzy
Ola Claudia, I’m still working on mine. Hope I get it up before Mr. Linky closes. I have a house full of workmen. I got new blinds, the outside is being repaired and newly painted. The inside things that are creaky and broken are getting repaired. Good time of year here, not so achingly hot but yesterday it rained..thank heaven, and the guys did work inside. Today both places. I am working around that. So I’ll have one up and read if fate wills. If not…you know I’m sending heartfelt Valentine love to my fellow poets, colleagues, comrades-in-words!
over here it’s snowing… heartfelt valentine love to you as well gay…and hope you manage to get an island of rest in the repairing trouble..
Ah. they are doing the work. I got something written. Hopefully (at the very least) it’s SEXY! And dances!
I’m totally hoping it’s not love poems or bust today… I think I’m the anti-love poem. Maybe not…. yes, yes I am.
I read your poem and while it may not have love, it’s got passion to burn. Highly recommended!
While I am all for l’amour, my opinion of the idea of designating a special day to show love in as gaudy, expensive and material a way as possible is about as high as the one I have of the current state of Christmas, and I know everyone remembers how enthusiastic that makes me(!) so my poem tonight should surprise no one, though I must admit, it was fun to write. Look forward to seeing some more mushy stuff out there on the poetry trail. ;_)
we crown you the new fairy tale queen hedge..smiles
Happy Valentine’s Day to lovers everywhere! Thanks for hosting Claudia, but don’t you think you went a tad overboard with all the doilies? 🙂
i think there can never be enough doilies…smiles
First time participating. Posted a poem I wrote two years ago for Valentines Day. Will post something newly written next week.
Always good to see you minding the store, Claudia! Cheers!
cheers jackie…good to see you in the pub… a pink drink for you…?
Pink drink means fine wine. Sure! and Happy Valentine’s Day, hon!
Hey, Claudia! I’m dipping my toes back into the poetry blogging waters this week. Thanks for hosting!
woohhooooo… amy’s in the house…so good to see you…!
I tried something new tonight. And it involves love. Sort of. Ish.
So glad to be a part of this gathering again this week. I plan to participate a bit more this week; haven’t been too good about it here lately.
I hope you enjoy my anti-valentine poem: http://charleslmashburn.wordpress.com/2012/02/14/i-cant-do-this-anymore/
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
🙂
More of an opposite of love piece….don’t do the ‘mushy stuff’ well. Not dark enough. 😉
You could always kill your date at the end of the night!
Just for the record…i can be romantic, just not write it. Dinner with wife and kids, wine, roses, chocolates, chocolate covered strawberries…. only my writing is dark.
I believe you. 🙂
Hello Claudia and everyone else!!
Happy Valentine’s Day for those who follow, and just a Happy Day for those who don’t! LOL!
I have posted another poem in “The Nightingale’s Song” saga…Part II, “Moon Child”.
I didn’t think I had anything else to write concerning “Lord and Lady Nyo”, but this was a strange start again to this series. It came in part from a dream (I really have to stop eating right before bed….burp) and an unconscious memory of a short story I read many years ago about walking on the moon, climbing up to it on a ladder. I can’t remember the author, but I think he was Italian.
So! I hope to get to make better rounds this week and expand my reading. I need to, as I am drying up here like a fallen leaf.
Cheers!
Lady Nyo
a magical piece jane…enjoyed it much..
Thank you, Claudia. My therapist is a bit worried…..LOL!
Jane
thats ok…you can find a new therapist….smiles…was def good jane….
LOL! Brian….she is shaking her head…constantly. She’s Bavarian…old school, and this ‘modern’ and alien poetry has her head knocking!
Hugs!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day! This is getting easier…the posting. Hope you like chocolat!
i do….!!!!
Hello Ms. Claudia….I am at sea and well, loneliness has no place here, so I am losing my mind and I inadvertently posted the wrong one first…so I offer you 2 pieces today, the first an earlier post and the other…an earlier piece …HA….but there is Love in all the words…thanks for opening the stage to us and please pour me a Jack straight up while I settle in here ffor some reading
Peace

My girlfriends name is Vallentine, so to me everyday is Vallentines day<–( SHE LOVES IT WHEN I SAY THAT)lol! My poem however speaks of a different type of love.
sweet…..
Busy in here again. Only 45 minutes late and I’m in at #80. Mind you, whether my entry should ever be seen outisde a greetings’ card shop is a matter of opinion. Mind you, if someone were to offer to pay for it ….
Who says romance is dead?
Oooops. Forgot to say thanks to our lovely host, Claudia. Vielen dank, liebsche Claudia!
nice…always warms my heart to hear some german words..
Ich habe nur ein bisschen Deutsch. My wife read my poem and said that it should never, ever be put into a greetings card! Ah well, back to the pencil and paper….
Hey all, Happy OLN. I didn’t really go with the Val. Day poem route, well not at all actually…I went with witchcraft and dark magic instead. Thanks for hosting Claudia
That’s how we do it at my place too fred. Screw those roses–cut off the flowers and keep the thorns. (I will accept chocolate, however.)

Hiya,
Sorry I missed the pink drinks, last night was a whirlwind of thoughts, I only remembered OLN too late
Will try and get some reading in today 🙂
Abi
hey..i promised we would wait…have saved you a pink drink…smiles
I guess I am one who has never wanted the red heart box of candy or any other token of Valentine’s Day. I guess that makes me the Ebenezer Scrooge of the Day…Amen. My husband’s note yesterday morning said in a ps: Valentine’s Day! ( just to remind me it’s not about his forgetting). I save the daily 5:00 am notes and now have quite a collection. They are my everyday Valentines.
The poem I am posting was written last October
so he writes you notes at 5 am every day…? hope not such like…could you take the dog to the dentist and iron my shirt for the conference tomorrow…smiles
ok…back from work and out on the trail…just wondering if some of the pink drinks are left…could need one…ha
out on the trail now myself catching up on the last few to roll in…hope all are having a great day after velentines and the love is still flowing…smiles.
Better late than never, I suppose. And if that isn’t an over-used cliche…!
i’m in!
late, but considering i had one heck of a valentines day with sheila yesterday, and, that it was her birthday, yes! a valentine baby 😉 i figure it’s, well, forgivable 😉
Hi everyone! – just sneaking under the bar here with some new haiku, with gazillions of your posts to look forward to reading…
I wrote a poem about this earlier for another writing prompt that fits this…
