On Christmas Eve we would always go down to my great aunts house. Many of my cousins and great uncles would be there. My mom would always make marinated Brussel sprouts (I don’t know how many we his in the couch, or if they were ever found.)
We would come home after and go to bed anticipating Santa, try, try, try to get some sleep with all the energy running through us. Of course starting around 4 am we would start asking our parents, ‘Is it time yet?’ There was so much excitement over what might be in our stockings.
We are a few weeks out from Christmas and perhaps you are making your list or thinking about what might show up under your tree. Now couple that with the feeling I sometimes get on OpenLinkNight, wishing I could read a few more poems by a particular poet or pull their book down from the shelf.
Today, I am adding a linky. Not to share a poem, but for you to link your books. Poetry or prose. This way it is easy for anyone to find a book by their favorite poet. If you don’t have one, don’t sweat it. Peruse the shelf.
Maybe you will have one show up in your stocking. Smiles. Hope the week starts great for you and see you tomorrow for OpenLinkNight. ~Brian
Ha! Nice! It’s going to be our own dVersebook store! What a wonderful idea..there are so many wonderful writers who share …it would be awesome to have them on one shelf to make for easy shopping!
big smiles tash..i know it was on your heart already for a long time
smiles…it was your idea originally months ago tash…and we just need to figure out how to do it once we have all of them in…
an idea is nothing without action…I think y’all are doing a beautiful thing…and I know it’s a shelf that will be added to for a long time to come.
Great idea, indeed!
Hmm. I’m looking for one by Brian Miller. (this is a great idea!)
You should also put this on the sidebar somehow
yep…we think about how and where we put it best to make it easy for people to find it…still brooding
ok, ok…will get to work on it…smiles…thanks margaret…
now here’s to happy christmas shopping and beyond…will be wonderful to browse through the links to your books and poetry collections…
Wonderful idea a bookstore…
As for the marinated brussel sprouts…if none were found… ? a brussel sprout eating hound ? “-)
haha…a brussel spout eating hound…i like…that would make for a nice poem as well…i’m not sure at all if there’s much poetry written with brussel sprout in it…smiles
ha…they used to have a black lab…i think he got sick one year on brussel sprouts….
Hi Brian, what a super sweet idea. I too am looking for yours. I have three, as you may know: one is a book of poetry, “Going on Somewhere”, another is a children’s counting book that I illustrated (with tons of elephants) – 1 Mississippi; and the last is a novel (very silly) called “Nose Dive”. Thanks very much. k.
i know, i know…and i have them on my shelf….smiles…
You are very sweet, Claudia. k.
So many of the wonderful poets who hang out here are published, but there are still some us that are extant, busy, talented by still unpublished; novels, short stories, screenplays, thousands of poems. I love Brian’s notion, his premise and challenge, but feel the need to speak up for we of the unwashed & unpublished. We will link to those who post their treasures, of course.
I guess the point I missed is that Brian provided a terrific opportunity for dVerse Poets to hawk their wares, to actually provide stocking stuffers this year. How silly of me to not see that from the get. Good luck and happy holidays to all of us!
smiles. i hear you glenn….we are def here for those that are still unpublished…and provide those opportunities several times a week…we have yet to compile a list of the books of those that are published as of yet…and you never know when that opportunity may come up for you…
what a great idea, Brian! so excited to see how many links will show up!
Brussel Sprouts… marinated?! oh dear… i thought i’d already seen the Depths of Hell… *shudders*
oh trust me…Dante missed an opportunity to include them…haha…
This is a great idea- I’ve already ordered two books and will keep checking.
Wonderful idea Brian! You are full of them! I look forward to looking through the work of so many talented poets!
Aw, what a lovely thought ~ thank you Brian … now, how come I haven’t seen a book with your name on the cover yet? hmmmm ..?
smiles..in all seriousness i just have not taken the time…i write every day and even have put some together just never submitted it…i am putting it on the new years resolution list for this year…
Awesome idea! A one stop shop to find some good reads.
well we could have about 47 links from the cat on this one….lol…
before i read one another is done
haha only 12 at the moment, but 6 more on the go. The cat will only show one though
This is a wonderful idea… I have several books I’m published in, but not yet my own, but am working on that. … and Brussel Sprouts- OMG!!!-I’m about to be sick… have to laugh at hiding them in couch, though.
shivers…they are almost as bad as lima beans…haha….
yeah i have been included in a couple collections as well…and several magazines,,,look forward to one by you…smiles.
I’m not very creative when it comes to cooking vegetables, but a book excites me. I’d be interested in how many were self-published. Can’t wait to see yours, too.
It was fun to see the poem collections of some of the community here. Good idea for a link, Brian.
thank you sir sabio
“sir” — LOL.
Don’t you call me ‘sir’ boy! I work for a living!
this is a GREAT idea, Brian. Thank you. Perhaps you will start a Bookshelf Page as a permanent feature? Mine is a novel–women’s/inspirational fiction…a blend of Jodi Picoult and Nicolas Sparks, I’m told. Poetry is in the works. I entered it into a contest.
oo two great authors….have met nicolas sparks…and read all of picoult’s works…
Smiles.
I have co-authored two novels and have written 3 poetry books. I shared links to one novel and one poetry book; but more are available. I’ve given Claudia and Brian my latest poetry book. (Smiles) I do think a permanent bookshelf on dVerse would be a good thing.
and the one is good that i have….smiles.
This is a wonderful idea Brian, thank you ~ I was looking for your name ~ Smiles ~
(I can now see all the links, the technie guy fixed the problem) ~
Have a good evening ~
woohoo! smiles.
This is so great – super idea – thanks! K
beautiful spirit.
Oh, how I wish I had a book to share! Though, perusing what others have already done, I’m just as happy to add to my wishlist.
Hi Brian. I, hopefully, posted a link to a book I wrote, not poetry but a fiction novel. It’s available on kindle for 3.99, but the paperback cost a lot more. Thanks!
Oh I got it completely wrong. I was thinking you wanted us to list our dream book which for me today at the moment is a dual language French poetry book, which I can always do with.
So I reposted my first novel NAGA and anthology of Malay legends, HIKAYAT which were both published this year.
Thanks Brian, great idea.
NAGA is a historical fiction novel and is available on Kindle and Nooks over at B&N. It is also available as paperback and hardcover. One thing I can promise you, the illustrations in all my books are really lovely based on extensive research – thanks to Malek Rahim my illustrator, and readers will get a great introduction to some of the oldest legends in South East Asia in HIKAYAT.
nice…i have one of your books on my shelf…and they are def worth having…smiles…will have to check out that novel…
I’ll be glad to browse through for books. 🙂
Wonderful idea and a great post. Fun browsing. Was searching for one by Brian Miller. Happy to report that have never eaten brussels sprouts…but have my own horror stories of childhood vegetables 🙂
Have a great Tuesday all.
ok this may be the time for a confession… i love brussel sprouts…so do my kids…dunno how that happened…smiles
you may be better off for not having brussel sprouts…ha,…
oh my claudia…oh my…i dont even know what to say….err….you can have mine…smiles.
While this may be fudging the rules slightly, I hope it works as the 3 anthologies I’m shamelessly promoting with my own poems nestled between their covers also contain a number of poets many of you will be familiar with, some of whom even write regularly at this site – and they may or may not have books out at present – They are, if you’ll excuse the pun “diverse” anthologies, coming from very different places or intentions, and are written by an international collection of poets, in all three cases – again, some of whom overlap books, others not. In any case, I offer the three links on my blog for your reading pleasure …

cool…not a problem at all…appreciate you dropping it in…will check them out…
Excellent idea – look forward to getting better acquainted with and learn from some of the fantastic poets here.
Bri- enjoy each moment as those boys grow / hold the memories close. Best wishes to all as a time of celebration approaches…
Lovely idea! I tossed mine in; hoping to have a new one out early next year. 🙂
Great opportunity; thank you. Though I am very late noticing and taking advantage of it!
Ditto!
