Happy Tuesday everyone. This is Abhra, back with my third poetics prompt on Dverse. Tonight I have surprise for you and I am sure you are going to enjoy it – after all, the idea is to have some fun on our way, as we write.
I was born in the plains near and I used to believe that small town was my world. Until I set out from home I had the faintest idea of the diversities my country comprised. Slowly I started exploring the plateau, the hills, the desert and the great mountain range that stands like a wall in the north. I came to know to the east – there are places where it rains all throughout the year and places up north that gets almost as cold as Russia. I consider myself lucky that I have lived in the east (where I am from), west (where I studied) as well as south and north in my country, amidst all such diversities – not only from geography and climate, but also people and rituals. It sparked the thought of exploring further. Of course there are placed all over the world that I wish to see and I don’t know if it will ever happen or not, but that doesn’t stop your mind – does it?
Here, I came across a really great visual expression of my dreams – around the world. Let me share this with you all here.
I am sure that I am not alone in such quest. There must be others too, who would like to set out to see the world. So tonight I question you, where would you want to be, if you could choose? Well, it might be difficult for some to pick one place for some.
If it was possible, I would live my life on the streets of Ladakh like this. I keep telling my wife, that when I reach forty, I might just set out on a bike. Perhaps I’d learn to play flute or guitar. Of course, my poetry travels with me.

As they say, rolling stone gather no moss. Looking forward to get a share of your dreams.

ah, nice topic…i def have a journeyman in me…and have had to work hard to keep him in line the last couple years….having been in the house i am now for like 8 or so years…it is the longest i have stayed in one place…
had fun, wrote a bit of a song actually…
look forward to seeing what everyone brings….
Loved your song.. yes it could be set to notes and sung I believe…
Ah! you wrote a song, that sounds great – heading over to your post now….
abhra….good to see you….
hope your day was well.
It’s getting very close to vacations.. so travelling is high on my thoughts.. and the nomad in me starts to wake up… yes a wonderful topic .. I wrote about Iceland, and by coincidence I saw it’s Iceland’s national day today… cheers for Iceland 🙂
so you are going by kayak?
Of course.. we will just pull them down to the shore.. and go…
that would be awesome….though a long boat and sail might feel a bit more secure to me…ha.
Ha.. yes but the crew you need might be a rowdy bunch.. a kayak is only you 🙂
true, but just think of the shoulders we would all have from rowing when the wind went from our sails…and we could sing bawdy pirate poetry we wrote during the day….ha
kajak-ing is cool… we will do a kajak event in france with our marketing sales department soon… that will be fun
Oh.. it’s mostly a very relaxing when you go out on the sea.. white-water kayaking would be a totally different thing.
we used to ride kayaks on the river each year when they released the dam…def some white water….
Loved your prompt Adhra! I love to travel and still have more places to see. Enjoyed writing my ditty for today. Thank you!
gay!!!!! my wonderful friend…it is so very good to see you…
and still hoping that our travels cross pathes one day…smiles.
Still regret regularly that I couldn’t make that New York trip. I would have had so much fun with you there!
i am returning again the end of next month…actually staying in pennsylvania….but spending a day or two in NYC….
If you are anywhere near Philadelphia, Brian, consider stopping by.
about 2 hours north of you…near bushkill…where we are staying…but might see about making a pit stop on the way home or the way up…would be cool….
smiles… it was wonderful meeting you in london gay… will fly back to london in a few weeks and so looking forward to it…
Give it my hugs and loves..see a park, ride the eye, take a boat down the Thames, see a show or two (just go to the box office for tickets – that’s cheapest) have tea at Fortnam & Masons — the dept. store at Piccadilly – (it’s lovely) — that’s enough and think of me..yes wish I could join you there again!
Gay, thank you so much – I am glad that I could inspire some beautiful thoughts.
I enjoyed reading about your life Abrah and I do have some places on my bucket list, some places I’ve been I’d like to go back to, but i took a different stance on the subjuect today….thanks you.
it was a cool take…and a truth in there as well…
have fun at that graduation kathy…
Yes, I didn’t say it couldn’t be some place we have already been to, smiles. I am glad you like it.
Very lovely post! Will ponder today….
and i will read when you post it later this eve….
Oh No, Pressure!!
ha. no pressure…
i am sure you can write it though.
smiles.
We shall see…..
I look forward to your post.. but I guess I will read it tomorrow.
You’re very kind–I’m cooking now, so don’t know if I’ll finish the assignment in time; don’t want you to get your hopes up too high! Have a blessed day/night.
Great prompt, Abhra… I took a different approach – hope you don’t mind!
we are all full of different approaches today…ha
Loved your approach Freya .. I think we need that point of view as well
Thank you, Bjorn.
Oh not at all, difference is the spice.
Yes, this is true!
a cool prompt abhra… i love traveling both… outward and inward… smiles
just coming back from a little business trip to davos and feel a bit sick actually… so will read a few and go to bed soon…
davos it the name of the ‘onion knight’ in the game of thrones series….
interesting…
sorry you feel a bit sick claudia…take care of yourself….
ha cool… at 1,560 m (5,120 ft) it’s the highest city in the alps here in europe – wintersport and mountainbiking place…
and he is a smuggler…whose king chopped off the first knuckle of all the fingers on one hand as repentence…and became the highest knight to the king…ha
haha… that sounds much more exciting than a skiing resort…smiles
Ah! I absolutely like the way you travel and carry your poetry with you. Sorry that you aren’t feeling well, take care.
Thank you for the lovely prompt. I shall have a go at it when I arrive home after my 8 days away in UK. Just now, I should like to be whisked home to France without the hassle of an early start, two flights with a three hour wait between them, and 2 hours in the car!
yikes….that about takes all the fun out of the trip with all that seat time…ha…travel light viv….
Don’t worry – the lovely wheelchair assistance ladies take care of my (heavyish) suitcase.
as they should…smiles…
have a safe trip back viv… maybe you find one or two poems on the way…smiles
alright… bedtime… for the moment returned comments and will catch up tomorrow morning… feeling fever-ish and have a heavy headache… sigh
oy…good night…and perhaps the rest will provide a bit of healing…
alright, off to my son’s baseball game…be back in a few hours to catch up….
Abhra, I know my poem is the opposite of what you mean, but I cannot deny that watching the videos took me exactly where I say. Please forgive me.
It is not actually opposite – but yes, a different outlook, as I said in your post – I didn’t think this way. Sadness from your words filled me.
What a great prompt… I’m going to see what I can do…
hiya polly…
cool prompt…for the time being all my journey ends at my ma’s home…so i sketched a little world…
its a little big world…smiles.
Oh, yeah, I made it to the pub today for a poetry fix. I have to wait for CreateSpace to okay the formatting of my novel then order a proof to do a good edit–so I have a break. Love the prompt. Sorry my poem is a bit long…like my life. Ha! I will return to read in the morning. It’s time for dinner here.
woot…glad you came up for air….and hope you get your ok pretty fast…smiles.
Got the okay, ordered the proofs…then its edit, edit, correct, edit again. But I will wait till after MTB next week!
good morning… feeling a bit better and will be back in a bit to catch up…smiles
ah, glad you are feeling better…smiles.
Good morning… Woke up early and will do some reading… Glad you are feeling better Claudia
What a lovely, lovely prompt – travelling is one of my favourite things (although perhaps not for business purposes). I’ll be home later on tonight, so hope I can still participate in this prompt, as it’s just my cup of tea, glass of mojito, cafe frappe, bowl of misoshiro etc. etc.
smiles… hope to see you later and bet you have quite some travel stories to tell..
I hope to read it Marina.. this part of the year is the right time to dream as well I think
running out of time and need to leave for work… didn’t manage to read all so far as i stood about an hour in the hot shower…oy… but will be back in the evening to read…promised…smiles
take care .. and get really well 🙂
feeling a bit better but still a headache and mondo tired after work now… will be a very early bedtime for me tonite…
Haven’t posted here in a long while– and then I accidentally post my link twice (#27 and #28)– oops, sorry about that! (Please feel free to delete one!) Thanks. 🙂
Amazing video! I thought of my visit to Spain, would go back in a heartbeat. Or maybe further south, like Morocco…
i would love to go to morocco as well one day…
Very nice prompt..it was fun to think where I would want to live..but i realized that I don’t want to move ..I am happy where I am today and with my loving family..thanks for bringing up this understanding in me..Good on Abhra:)
ah that is great if you’re happy right where you are…smiles
I went a bit sideways on this one my friend, but it was what came to me when I was reading your prompt!
We are spraying – and I will be taking my laptop home this weekend so I can get caught up with everyone by visiting and leaving love. PROMISE! 🙂 I know I am behind…but sheesh this big farm is crazy sometimes!
Reworked an older poem, hope you don’t mind -but it says it all for me. My brothers are world travelers and I have always read and dreamed of seeing these amazing parts of our world. But wanderlust has never tickled my feet and I am happy right where I am! Have a great rest of the week! K
I really had no idea what to write about (I guess I am too settled where I am 🙂 ) until a friend’s message gave me an idea.
I am glad I was able to write for the prompt. Thanks, Ahbra.
I am glad you could join in 🙂
Ah, missed it again. Only 48 hours for the Mr Linky and been busy with internet issues so will post here something I believe reflects the tone of the prompt:
