Hello friends,
Tonight it’s once again an opportunity to link up any poem you might want to share. It’s a night to walk around and read and be amazed what words can do. It’s a day to catch up with prompts you might have missed. Why not try your hands at writing from another point of view, or maybe write a death poem.
I will be here, if there is anything else you want to share. We have passed the autumn equinox, and gradually we’re squeezed in the shrinking daylight between dawn and dusk in the northern hemisphere, while you on the southern hemisphere are feeling the bliss of spring.
As you might have we are getting fewer and fewer behind the bar, and therefore we are having guests quite often. We hope of course that some of them might want to step up and be a full time bartender.
I also wish to remind you that on Monday we have haibun monday. It will come with a theme, that is still secret but on the other hand you have a whole week to complete your writing.
Just a reminder on how it works here at the bar.

Hi there poets, I hope you have a wonderful evening.. let me pour something to drink… a glass of bubbly perhaps?
My first time – and thank you for hosting…I thought as it was an open session I’d join in..boost the numbers at least…hope to get around to others pieces too..thank you!
Good to see you, Jae!
Great to have you Jae.. some people here are the same as on PU, but other’s are different.
Thank you – hope I didn’t miss anyone in my replies
Nice to be here, Bjorn! Great introduction to Open Link. It is a bit too early for bubbly here, but give me a few hours. Smiles!
Ha.. I pour you some great mineral water with just some lime instead.. the bubbly is behind the bar when I go to sleep.
Hi there Bjorn & everyone,
Good to be back! Back here in the UK as Autumn begins to set in, I have been busy preparing my next printed collection, ready for release next year.. Tonight’s offering is a brand new piece that I expect to make it into that collection and has only just been published on the website today. Excited to see what you all make of it and also of course very much looking forward to freshening my poetic palate reading and responding to everyone else’s work this evening…
Welcome Scott.. great to see you, and such a treat to have a fresh poem from you as a treat for us all..
Perfect! Linking my #OctPoWriMo entry for day One of 31 in 31 for the month of October poeming. Come join us. Such an inspiring group of poets here!
Ah. great to have you here Grace, another month filled with poetry I hear..
Bjorn, thanks for hosting ~ And looking forward to Haibun Monday next week ~
Happy Thursday everyone ~
I look forward to it too.. and remember it will be a prompt as well.. so it’s not just any haibun 🙂
Stretching our poetic muscles, I see ~
I am making my rounds in a bit as I am still in the office ~
Maybe you can step in at the bar, when I have to head to bed..
No worries, I will be around to welcome everyone later 🙂
Ha, I will be around for a while here as well!
Thank you, I’m a little concerned about the cabinets filled with wine, there are some great bottles here…

🙂
Happy Autumn! And thanks, as always!
Hi, and thank you for the limerick.. 🙂
Whew! Tough limerick challenge this time, Madeleine – very interesting where some people went with it…
Cheers for tending the bar Bjorn – much appreciated!
Autumn is indeed with us – although days are warm and sunny here (at present) – the Autumn chill making itself known at nights though…
Kind regards
Anna :o]
Oh Nice to have you here Anna, maybe something warm to drink a cold night like this..
Presently imbibing vodka and orange dear Bjorn – and it is warming the cockles of my heart!
Loadsa love
Anna :o]
Anna, yours was aptly ‘chilling’ for this autumn-like day here!
Cheers Mary. Odd how things come about.
There are frogs in the back yard at work and if not actually seeing them, i hear them jumping on the arid leaves. Sometimes when having a smoke – I know, I know – they might jump at my feet and there is always the pause between jumps – and I do wonder what is going on in their froggy heads.
And across the last month I write down these wonderments and so until the last stanza, these thoughts are mine. Only, I didn’t know how to end it until yesterday – that said, please be assured I am nowhere near being suicidal as I always look on the bright side of life.
Kind regards
Anna :o]
Well, Anna, you definitely did find the perfect ending! And SO effective. I know I don’t like it when people occasionally think I am writing autobiographically when I really am not. So I guess I was a bit guilty of this myself. Sigh.
Happy OLN night, everyone. I’ll be over to read in the morning – it’s been a tiring day.
To be honest, I really enjoy the guests’ prompts, but I realise that it must take extra organising for the few of you who are left.
I’ve linked a twofer – a poem in French and its English translation.
Soon bedtime for me as well.. We do enjoy the guest prompts as well.. honestly.
See you tomorrow, Bjorn!
Hi everyone. Back from doing hurricane preparedness. The west of the state has horrible flooding and we in the middle part are starting to get soggy with the storm before the storm! We’ll probably have high winds all weekend and up to 1 nches of rain. WOWOWOWOW It’s early but I’d like a double shot of Bushmill’s. I’ll post and be back later to read and comment
Glad to see you, Toni! Hope you are spared devastation. Sounds pretty scary to me.
About 10 years ago, Isabel came inland – we didn’t have power for 2 weeks, 5 people in the city dead. But not as bad as the dreaded Camille that went all the way back to the mountains. Some of those washed away in the flooding were never found. Very sad and now all the flooding there. and spongy here. I’ve brought out my butane stove, the cooler that uses dry ice and emergency water for flushing and spring water for drinking. My cat doesn’t care. He’ll get fed and stay warm so he is fine. And it is truly a whisky kinda end of crazy day instead of sake…..Lordy. Another double shot and I’ll pull out the violin and start to fiddling jigs…LOL
Do stay safe!
I shall. I am a major coward. I’m off to tie some stuff down outside but will be back later. glad you got to post early this time.
Take care Toni & be safe ~
Hope you stayed safe, Toni? Any updates on your situation? Did you get blown away? Sending warm wishes of calmness and missing the storm.
Hello everyone…glad to be back after a little break from writing. Hope someone made some hot chocolate and got the fire going because it is getting nippy here.
Nice to see you once again; and, of course, there is some hot chocolate waiting just for you!! I have read your poem. Wondering if you are in danger from the hurricane!
Not at all, Mary. Thank goodness. This tiny poem was speaking metaphorically.
Hope everyone stays safe!
Thanks for dropping by ~
Whew, I am relieved it was metaphorical!!
I have been content, in terms of my own creative needs, just writing 2-3 poems per week, but when I stop by some of your other sites I do see all this activity on WITH REAL TOADS (which I have joined into a few times this month), & POETS UNITED, MAGPIE TALES & others. I applaud your output & dedication, but can’t seem to be motivated to writing so much (says he that wrote 6 poems for one Kerry prompt on TOADS). The ranks of contributing poets have thinned out since Brian & Claudia reduced their involvement, but we die-hards are keeping the Pub doors open & the ship of poetic state afloat. I want to thank all the staff & volunteers who are responsible now for the continuing joy & fellowship. It is the breath of life for this old Beat poet. Nice to see some old & new faces for this 157th OLN; it feels good to reconnect for a moment or two.
We run in the same circles, smiles ~ Since I am working still, I can’t write to all the lovely prompts out there ~ Good to see you Glenn and see you next week on Haibun Monday ~
I really don’t know where all the poets have gone. Really seems like a lot have just stopped writing poetry altogether. I agree it is hard to write to all prompts. My ideas run dry after a while, and I think other people’s do too. And quantity does not necessarily equate with quality. But that being said, there are a lot of good poets who do not appear at all any more…and that saddens me. Glad you are still around, Glenn!
We have poet bloggers who have died, or closed their blogs, and some have gone to publishing their poems via books that they don’t blog anymore ~ People come and go but its good to have a community to fall back on ~
I see poets dwindling all over.. the inflow of new ones is not compensated with those that cease to write for various reasons.
Wow, I applaud the energy of all of you! It’s always a pleasure to see faces old and new here at the Pub, and to read all your creations, even though my actual writing to prompts can be so sporadic.
Good evening. I’m glad to participate again. I’m having wine. I might have a lot, but cut me off at some point or I get way too flirty.
On to reading
Good to see you ~ I am glad to see and listen to poet’s reading their poems ~
A pleasure to see and read you too, the name Grace suits you
I’ve just linked in a poem that I wrote last week for Jamie Dedes’ hosting of 100TPC 2015 (100 Thousand Poets for Change), a worldwide event held this past Saturday. I too miss so many of the fine poets who used to participate here but I totally understand needing breaks as I’m just getting back into writing again after a lengthy break myself. So thankful dVerse is still here. I’m enjoying reconnecting with you all.
I will read as many as I can tonight and then will be back tomorrow afternoon (after my duties with Miss Mira) to catch up with everyone.
Gayle ~
I will be over in a bit to read your poem Gayle ~ Thanks for reconnecting with us, smiles ~
Hello and good morning.. I will be checking out a little before the day breaks.
I am in between packing but will post something written earlier.
Nice, I will get over an read 🙂
Will be a little late to visit, folks, as I’m currently travelling on business and suffering from jetlag, migraine and need to prepare my courses. But I look forward to having a little beauty and poetic magic cheer me up once I finish tonight!
Ah.. travelling can be quite a hard thing.. welcome back 🙂
Hi, looks like I am the last one 🙂
So far – but there is still more time for others to link!
Indeed there is still time left
