Lillian here – happy to host today’s OLN (Open Link Night). That means you can post one poem of your choosing – no required topic, form, or length. Your choice!
While you’re thinking about what to post, I thought I’d share photos from our recent journey to China, Japan and South Korea. Tuesday’s “market” poem revealed photos from the South Korean fish market. Today, take a gander at some of the beautiful people and faces we saw. Click on the photos to enlarge: some have captions for explanation.
NEW TO D’VERSE? Here’s what to do to participate in OLN:
- Post any one poem to your blog.
- Click on Mr. Linky below to add your name and enter the direct URL to your poem
- On your blog, please provide a link back to dVerse. This enables others to enjoy our prompts, multiplies our readers and thus the responses to all of our poems.
- If you promote your poem on social media, use the tag #dverse poets
- And most importantly, please do read some of the other responses to the prompt and add a short comment or reaction. Everyone likes to be appreciated! The prompt is “live” for several days – as you’ll notice by the comments you’ll receive – so do stop by another day and read a few of the latecomers too!
Happy Thursday everyone! Pub is open and I’m ready for the reading trail! Lots of drinks on tap including flavored coffees, iced teas, nice wines, beers and cocktails too. Mostly though, hope to just be serving up lots of good poetry tonight!
Hello all… here we have summer rains at the moment…
Here’s to a more sunshiney weekend! 😉
Hiya Lillian and All,
New poem published on the site yesterday. Along with some photos of recent trip to the Holy Land… Your own pictures of Oriental travels were a real treat to peruse. And, just like you, I couldn’t stop taking pictures of all the joyful children, when I was out there… Look forward to some excellent reading tonight and seeing what everyone else has been up to too – Hope you enjoy my new stuff…
The Holy Land is on our “to do” list. Looking forward to a long night of reading here 🙂
Hi Lillian and All. I love your photos. All of them are bright. Happy Thursday!
Yep — I do love happy photos with brightness in them….my daughter calls me a Pollyanna at heart! 🙂
I am a preferer of brightness whenever I can get it. The one of the old singer and those of the children are endearing ❤
He was such a dear dear man….one of the highlights of our journey. I always try to make connections with the people, the culture, as well as the scenery. We were a bit teary eyed as we said goodbye to him.
Sounds like an old soul in an old body. Double delight.
Happy OLN everybody and thank you for hosting tonight Lillian! I’ve linked a tanka and a furry face to ponder and will swing by in a moment to read xxx
LOVE tankas! I always say, when just three lines won’t do, write a Tanka instead 🙂
😁💖🙋♀️ xxx
Enjoyed these as a slideshow Lilian – I’ve been a bit dry of late but this one bobbed to the surface
So glad you enjoyed the photos! It truly was an amazing journey in so many ways.
Thank you for hosting Lillian. The title of today’s post put me in mind of a poem I wrote a number of years ago. So I’ve resurrected it, revised it to tighten it up, and have posted a link to it here. It is a bit of a different perspective on faces.
Hah! Just read it and replied and as I was adding the final period on my reply, my phone dinged that you’d posted here! LOVED your take on Faces 🙂
Stepping away for a bit to have a wine with a friend…and will be back tonight to get on the reading trail again!
It’s OLN so have some fun tonight!
Hi Lillian,
Thanks for sharing your photos. Especially loved the preschoolers. They look so cute in their hats:)
Pat
They were adorable! 🙂 Nice to see you here, Pat! Happy Thursday!
Love all the smiling faces from your trip. The little ones were precious!
They were indeed! 🙂
Really love your photos of all the people of all ages and they obviously enjoyed being photographed 🙂
Here is mine for tonight

Just read and commented. So glad you joined us tonight.
thanks for making me feel welcome Lillian!
Evening, Poets! Thanks, lillian, for pubtending OLN tonight! Hope to see you all on the trail, soon! 🙂
Good to see you here, Frank!
Thanks for sharing your lovely photos Lillian 🙂
Glad you enjoyed them! It was an amazing journey.
Jeff, if you see this I couldn’t comment on your page because my comment was blocked, but I liked your poem. It sounds like a Bible verse or prayer.
Jeff: Same for me….and could you also possibly add a dVerse Tag or link to your post? That way others can find our site as well.
Thanks for hosting Lillian. I haven’t been writing much due to work. I look forward to reading the poems shared at the pub today.
Nice to see you here tonight….not to worry. Sometimes work and life takes precedence and takes up all our time. Glad you can join us!
Heading out to visit daughter’s family….and see a dance recital! Will be back on the reading trail on Friday evening and Saturday too!
Remember: the pub door is always open….key under the mat….and libations available in a self-serve cooler.
Looking forward to more reading….always nice to have you drop by!
lillian
Thanks for hosting, Lilian! It’s always fascinating when you share things from your travels! 🙂
Our trip to China, Japan and South Korea was truly memorable! 🙂
It is wet and cold is our southern Winter but compared to the northern hemisphere, positively balmy I suspect. We need the rain after a dry Summer and the last of the Autumn leaves are falling, revealing trees in wandering skeletal shape. It is good to see the seasons change.
I so agree. I think that’s why I could never live in Florida….although I enjoy visiting there. I crave the snow at least a few times during the year! 🙂
Well, as someone once said, variety is the spice of life and that applies to seasons. It is also the paradox that we do not truly appreciate the light without the darkness, the warmth without the cold etc.
Thanks for hosting Lillian. (K)
I always enjoy hosting!
AND I’m back! Hope everyone is having a grand weekend! We enjoyed seeing our granddaughter in her dance recital. She absolutely rocked a boogie tap dancing number. And those of you who know me from a number of years at dVerse, know I’m an old tapdancer who can still do a mean soft shoe and the timesteps too!
So — off to reading and catching up now! Thanks to all who posted for OLN this week.
That’s wonderful, Lillian! ❤️ I am so glad to know you enjoyed the weekend. I have been away from my laptop and was busy as it’s my sister’s birthday on 17th.. and we literally spent the entire weekend celebrating haha 😀 I’ll be back in the morning to catch up! 🙂 xo
Family birthdays and celebrations are the best! 🙂
Hey Lillian,
I’m surprised you didn’t include the faces of the stingrays from the Korean seaside market. Those were wild!
