Lillian here. Greeting you from sunny San Diego and happy to host Thursday’s OLN at dVerse, the virtual pub for poets.
We’re escaping Boston’s winter and have been here since January 8th. Will return home in mid-March. It’s been a joy to experience the sunshine and temperatures in the 60s – cold to native San Diegans, but beautiful to us! Thought I would simply share some photos with you….so you can be an armchair traveler today. The ocean photo is from the window of the Coaster train which we took from San Diego, up the northern coast to Oceanside – got off and walked the pier – then hopped back on to Encinitas. We walked 1.5 miles from the Encinitas station to get to the beautiful Botanical Gardens and were not disappointed! Last photo is from yesterday’s fun outing to the Automobile Museum in San Diego’s Balboa Park.
Okay writers! Most of you know the story for OLN:
Post any ONE poem of your choice.
No particular prompt/form/rhyme scheme required. BUT
PLEASE tag dVerse or link to us (see below for specific instructions)
NEW TO dVERSE? Need to be refreshed on the rules? HERE’S WHAT TO DO:
- Write a poem of your choosing.
- Post the poem to your blog AND add the exact URL for your poem to Mr. Linky below.
- REMEMBER to either TAG dVerse in your post, or include a link at the end of your poem that leads the reader back to https://dversepoets.com
- If there is no Tag or link back to dVerse, I will gently remind you to add it or remove your post from Mr. Linky. Sorry to be so harsh – but this is just part of the requirements AND it will bring you more readers and lead more folks to dVerse so they can participate as well.
Looking forward to reading your posts today!
Hello from San Diego! Hoping to see lots of you today at OLN. We’re enjoying another sunny day here….just did a FABULOUS wine tour yesterday and sat at edge of hilltop and watched a gorgeous sunset while sipping wine. Ah bliss!
Greetings from San Diego! Hoping to see lots of dVerse folks here today. It’s a sunny one and we are loving this wonderful city. Yesterday went on a wonderful winery tour and ended the day sitting at the edge of a hilltop watching a gorgeous sunset while sipping wine. Pure bliss!
Good evening, Lill! You look like you’re having a great time in San Diego. I’m currently having problems with Microsoft Word, which is telling me it’s updating Office and then comes up with an error message. I haven’t started to tear my hair out yet, but t’s a pain! Poetry will soothe me, so I’m looking forward to some great reads tonight.
okay….we always seem to be sympatico whether in poetic theme, or now, tech problems. Notice my bazillion welcomes 🙂
Glad to see you here, Kim!

Finally! I’m in….so greetings from sunny San Diego. Looking forward to lots of posts for OLN.
Yesterday we took a fabulous winery tour and ended the day sitting on the edge of a hilltop, watching a gorgeous sunset sipping wine. Pure bliss!
Step right up to the pub folks….lots of libations, alcoholic and nonalcoholic, ready and waiting! 🙂
HAH! Technology guru I am not….now I have a gazillion welcomes posted! Well….let’s just say I’m in a welcoming mood and it was done on purpose 🙂
Happy OLN everybody and thank you for hosting tonight Lillian! It looks wonderfully warm and sunny in San Diego and very soothing for the soul! I’ve linked a tanka from earlier today and will swing by in a moment to read xxx
Glad to see you here today! I’ve always loved tanka. When I first learned the form, my teacher said to me “A tanka is . . . well it’s for when three lines just won’t do!” As in, more than a haiku 😉 That thought always comes back to me and makes me smile.
Hello Lillian and All. Glad to hear your vaca in a warmer place is going well. The photos are colorful and fabulous to mood-lifting.
Oh yes….it is marvelous to spend some of Boston’s winter here! Glad to see you at OLN!
Very bright cheerful photos and good to see you driving the jalopy Lillian!
We had a fun day at the San Diego Automotive Museum….I was tempted to post the photo of me next to the life-size stand-up cut out of the Fonz next to his real motorcycle from Happy Days – also on display! 🙂
lol that is definitely the one I would have to get … love that guy, and motorbikes 🙂

Hello from not so sunny England, stumbled on this place from Bodhirose’s link, looking forward to looking around and getting back into a community of poets again.

One of my favourite spots…enjoy…JIM
We are enjoying San Diego immensely!
Are these your photos? They are gorgeous!!
yes they are. San Diego lends itself to beautiful photos! 🙂
It’s a lovely town and though I usually do not like zoos, their wild animal park does a wonderful job of giving animals their freedom.
I agree. I’ve done some reading about zoos….the San Diego and National Zoo in Washington DC are both accredited (stringent policies toward animals’ safety, habitats, care, extremely limited human interference etc) — and both work for the betterment of the animals and breed to avoid extinction.
Fabulous colours, Lill! Wow, it’s like somebody turned the lights on.
Glad you enjoyed the photos, Sarah. My phone’s camera is amazing and I so enjoy working with it. I don’t think I’ll ever exchange it for another.
Hello Lillian, Jay here 🙂 and greetings to you too from India, I’ve submitted a poem which I wrote sitting in the Sun on a winter afternoon. I hope you’d enjoy it !
Nice to see you here, Jay. I’m going right over to read posts this morning again, as soon as I’ve made my first cup of coffee! 🙂

Glad to see you here! And always happy to brighten people’s day! 🙂
I saw the link was still open, so I just added my Saturday poem from the Magnetic Poetry Oracle. I’ll be back to read in a bit.
Glad you made it on time, Merril! 🙂 Just closing up the pub now….and reading the late posters too.
