Hello Poets and friends,
Today we have something extra for you before we go on a summer break.
We will be live for real for the first time at dVerse. If you wish to join and sit by your computer just make yourself comfortable, maybe open a beer, bring your coffee and we can meet online.
You can join with your video turned on or not. If you prefer not to read and just listen that’s fine as well. I will try to keep it open for the first hour or so, and I might add new sessions later if we have a success.
You can read your poem if you want, just like a real open mic, but if you just want to share something from where you live that is fine as well
As usual, you can link up your one poem just as usual, visit and comment.
Don’t forget to link back to this site.
After this pub, we go on two weeks vacation and come back for an 8-year celebration.
To join the live event click here, We are using Google meet so it should run well in your browser.
You can link up your poem as usual in Mr Linky below
We are live now in the pub.
Thank you so much for hosting our OLN Bjorn. See you all again after 2 weeks, after our summer break.
Have fun. My computer isn’t up to this or else it’s because I don’t like Google but I just get a blank screen.
I saw you come on, and then disappear.
How embarrassing! I’d have at least brushed my hair if I’d known 🙂 I’d just got out of the shower and didn’t expect the link would work. Nothing to do with google works on this computer. I just got a message saying the camera was disactivated and a black screen. Nothing happened so I ignored it.
No worries–it was just your icon photo that I saw. I thought perhaps there was a problem with us both being on at the same time. 😀
That’s quite a likely explanation. I should have thought of that 🙂
😀
Is this still going on?
We are about to close up… but you can still join
Hi Bjorn,
I will def try to join in on the next one. It’s hard as I have a small window of opportunity as i work. It sounds like it was a success.
Great idea but I saw the email too late. I hope you do this again.
We will… It was great fun
This is a brilliant idea Bjorn. I hope you guys had fun. Would love to hear all about it. I am actually in bed right now because it’s 5:05 am. Wish I could’ve joined you.
Thank you for organising this, Bjorn – it was great fun!
It was great fun
This was soo much fun! Thank you so much for organizing Google Meet and giving us all a chance to meet each other, Bjorn! 😀
I will make my rounds shortly! 💝
I think you better try to get some sleep… 🙂
I will in a few minutes 😀 😀
I was in and listening to the live link, but to sign in it asked for my personal password. It would not take my password and by the time i got a temp number and made a new on the time was finished. It was good to see you. I was only able to see 9 of the 16 who were present. I guess I am not well versed in this type of technology! Maybe next time!
I think you should not need any password… but maybe it would have helped if you had been signed into Google as it started.
It made me load a updated version of MS Edge to be able to connect. I got mixed up. It was asking for a Microsoft password, and I was trying to put in my Word Press one. Discovered it to late to make . Next time I will be ready. This is the first I have done any kind or zoom connections on my computer. Thanks for setting it up!
WOW, the video chat room was a huge success! Our fellowship status has doubled; really an incredible experience. At the one hour mark, I had to leave, but hey, that left room for others. Did Grace ever show up, or Lisa? Thank you so much, Bjorn, for spear-heading this get together. In the future, we might do these versus just a Pub Chat. Happy Summer break to the group!
Lisa would miss it and Grace had to work… but we will sure try to do this more times.
VVas so vvonderful and vvarm!
Glenn, vvhat vvas it you vvere saying about collaborative group poem making?
Like picking a scheme and form, or not, but making like a line challenging the other, collective poetry that might lead to anyvvhere! Many vvays you could organize it.. Sounded interesting…
Glenn, I had an appointment at the hairdresser today that wasn’t able to be rescheduled (except 3 weeks out) but will do my best to attend the next one. Sounds like you all had a good time!
Thank you Björn! Sorry I can’t join live, but I am looking forward to everybody’s work at the good ole poetry pub! Pour a glass of summertime ☺️
I have a lot of summer to pour… we have a heatwave here in Stockholm
Hope you can catch some northern coolness
Thanks for hosting this Björn the Bear, I had such a vvarm feeling and so many good poems that resonate still. Thank you all for being a part of our little neuron node, seems the same feelings, themes rise from so many it is kind of avve inspiring!
And nice to see the faces and all the places this pubs visitors come from, have a more intimate ? Connected moments!
Thanks for joining in and being part of our little community.
And to all of you, I dare not say “old timers” but maybe more like the group of you Pub Regulars for taking me vvith such vvarmth and laughs!
A great idea for a live link but I wasn’t too sure of the time. Sounds like a great idea to continue. Have just posted the haibun I missed doing for Monday. Thanks to you all for the inspiration even though I find it difficult to join on a weekly basis. I enjoyed your month form poems last year. Hope all keep well and safe in these strange times.
I think you are welcome to join in any way you want.
Thank you for hosting the chat, Björn. I look forward to more in the future.
Thank you for joining in. For sure, we will have more live chat in the future.
btw… I’m never able to leave a comment on your blog, no matter what browser I use. Maybe it’s a Linux thing, but I don’t have the issue with other blogs on Blogspot (that I know of)
So, here’s the comment i tried to leave on you poem for today:
Do we ever really know that blind spot, except for when it reaches out to cloud our judgment?
Ken
I seem to have had technical difficulties; but I will try again another time.
Enjoy the well deserved break.
Thanks for checking in and see you back on July 13, Monday after our summer break.
The live event was amazing
Much💖love
Thanks for joining in. I was still at work, so could not join earlier. See you back after our summer break.
I feel I might need to apologize for shovving my tattoo, vvas perhaps inappropriate as I think it novv… But vve vvere talking of snakes and Caduceus is the Hermes/Thoth god of vvriting and imagination and things of magic and Art.. So maybe some is forgiven..
Am sure it is fine as we are quite a diverse group coming from different cities. See you back here after our summer break.
Yup, happy summer break to all!
It was great and daring that you showed your tattoo and it fitted the snake.
Sounds like you all had a really amazing time, thanks Bjorn 🙂
Sorry I missed it, I have never done live chat things of any kind … guess I could learn it but not my thing! But to see and hear each other will make it far more personal … hang in with that heatwave. Winter here, see you all after the break!
There are lots of choices now, like zoom calls, messenger or google meetings. Thanks for checking in. Keep warm and see you after the break.
I’ve been a bit absent here, although I have been writing (just not to prompt, though the mermaids have me going a bit and may swim through yet). Still not sure when the live event happens, because I can’t figure out the time? Or did I miss it already? Anyway, it would be helpful to post a time and time zone if this happens again. Now, gotta get caught up on all the mermaids and open links!
Alexandra, it was at 3pm EST. I had a hair appt so couldn’t make it.
Heads up to poets on blogger: On Tuesday and again tonight on some of your blogs were unable to take my comment. You know where it has the checkbox saying “prove you’re not a robot”? There is a blank white box there. I’m reading your poems but… Grace, you are one I can’t comment on 😦
Your comment is showing up, thanks!
Yay! My son got after me when he found out I was using firefox. Chrome seems to work much better.
I often encounter this when I comment on Grace’s blog. Just now, in fact.
Ken do you use firefox? I switched over to chrome and had no trouble commenting then.
I have Linux for my operating system. This happens with Firefox (Linux version), so I’ve used the Chrome derivative for Linux (actual Chrome is not available) & it still happens every time I try to comment on Grace’s blog.
Hope this went well, gang. I had work meetings today, so could not join.
It took me a bit to get video and sound working … finally figured it out … such a treat putting poets’ names and faces together!
Me too De! From all accounts it was a success. So Bjorn can host more OLN now, smiles.
We need to do it again… maybe have a few slots with different hosts for different timezoned.
So sorry I missed the first live session; I’m in the middle of moving to another state. OLN’s are always full of poetic treasures!
Anna, so nice of you to join us. We will be in summer break and back after 2 weeks, July 13. Hope to see you around. Take care.
Oh sure…Half an hour before the kickoff, His Beloved Sandra comes in, reminding him that they had to go out (like it or not) and they don’t make it back until 9ish oclock. Sorry I missed this; I’ll certainly look forward to future Faceoffs. Now I gotta go read all them Mr Linkys–maybe even contribute…Hmmm…
we will do this again.. it was great fun, and it mostly worked well.
Hello bjorn and all! Oh so sad I missed the event. What a great idea! Hope all is well! -eric (erbiage)

Sorry I missed this as I would have loved to see/hear all you lovely poets! I think the way I think you speak when I read your poems in my head is probably not the way you speak in real life. Björn – for future, could you give a specific time and in which time zone? Thank you for all you do! Have a great break to everyone at dVerse!
We tried to announce it on the blogs.. and I had an event in our facebook group as well but I think nobody saw it.
I saw it on the blog, but didn’t see/couldn’t figure out the time. I didn’t know you had a FB group. I will have to search out and join. Hope you’re having a good break, Björn!
Thank you so much, Bjorn, for hosting OLN and for organising the group chat. It was wonderful to speak to each other in real-time and to see familiar faces animated. 🙂 I’m already looking forward to the next one. I’m about to read and comment on the poems, as it was too late last night. Have a wonderful break everyone, a wonderful 4th July to all my friends over the pond, and I’ll see you in two weeks time!
I am just about to do my rounds now on Monday evening… plenty of time to manage this when there is not any new prompts.
Thank you for organizing this, Björn. It was great fun to see and hear so many poet friends from afar. Sorry, I had to cut out early. I didn’t use earbuds, so my husband in the next room could hear our chat, and he was asking me about some of you, too. 😀 We had our first night out since everything closed down in March–pizza and wine outside, social distanced at a winery.
I wonder what he thought… some nice chats, but maybe next time earbuds is recommended.
😀
a little late, but present and accounted for. Enjoy your break Bjorn, and thanks for hosting (K)
What a greatbidea Bjorn! I would have loved this but was out for most of the afternoon here. Can I ask that the next time you do it you give us a time (and zone) when it will begin so I can schedule around it? This sounded just wonderful 🙂
I will be sure to schedule this in the facebook group.
Maybe it’s 3pm my time. I should be more aware of the timing when I see the posts 🤭
Even later, but that’s my time zone and day (sigh) thank you Bjorn would have loved to be a part of the live gathering but the time would be well out for my working day (on Washington time 12 hours difference more for other time zones), who knows one day I will stay up late or is that get up early? 🙂
We live in a global world… for me it was 9 PM… so I couldn’t stay up so long.
I marvel at the circuit of the sun 🙂
Hello Bjorn, 🙂I see I’m very late (again) to the party. Thank you for hosting. Have a great weekend!
Jay
Sounds like that was a wonderful get-together! Everyone enjoy your holiday, and if you’re protesting or supporting them, stay safe.
Thanks Bjorn for making this available. The Google meet thingy must be quite a hoot too~

THANK YOU, BJORN! The live chat/meeting was FABULOUS! The pub was alive with real-time talking, laughing, and reading aloud. So so fun to finally see everyone and hear voices from the UK, US, India, Finland, Sweden, etc. WOW! My suggestion is we do this twice a year. It was truly truly amazing – I LOVED it!
I am so sorry that I missed this gathering. Sharing a poem late and look forward to reading others. I am looking forward to the big celebration. Thanks to all the folks who host.
Ali, sorry to track you down here, but the comments on your poem for OLN “If I read you like a poem” were closed, and just had to pester you about it, hehe. That is such a beautiful peice of Ars Poetica, really gets past the principle idea of why we write poetry and gets to the relationship idea. CS lewis famously quoted the father of one of his students who said “we read to know we are not alone,” and your peom arrives so beautifully at that same inverse as to why we write, to hope that there is real human life out there, and that it might see us. This would not be so important to us if we were merely rocks or dust, or maybe we are just the part of the rocks and dust that has become aware of itself for a time, and want to love and relate to who it sees and what it is. The relationship part brings a vulnerability, the “a Poem is a naked person” aspect that is inhernt in honest poetry, this is aoften difficult and even brutal, for ourselves, or the others we write about or address, but the beauty and the meaning we strvie for in these littel scribblings i think compensates. Your Ars Poetica brought litel teardrops today, as the corners and edges of ourlives were relfected back, what would we see, feel, know, or taste of each other? A reluctance to ask these questions leads to living deaths. You my friend appear to be very much alive. Printing this one for my bluuetin board!. Luvs! Lona
Hope to join the next gathering! Thank you for hosting, Bjorn!!
Alright, I activated an old account. Lets see if this works Grace.
Hi Brian,
Thank you.
SO glad I was able to join today and hear such wonderful poems maybe next time I’ll a little something ~ with love Krissy
Great to see you Krissy… we are still trying out the ground for this… and next time you will know where we are.
