Helloooo, poet warriors! De Jackson here, aka WhimsyGizmo, and it’s time again for my favorite poetry prompt, the Quadrille. It’s time to write those pocket-sized poems of just 44 words, not counting the title, and including one word we provide. And today, I’d like you to jolt, jerk and jar your words into a poem.

Muppets from Space, 1999
Pen us some fine poeming jargon. Jar us up some pickles, or a word jam-boree of your choosing. Jarring. Jarred. Jarful. Jarhead. Ajar. Use it as a noun, verb, or adjective. Rhyme it, or don’t. Just be sure your poem holds a total of exactly 44 words, including some form of the word jar.

New to the Q? Here’s what to do:
Let your muse out of the jar, and scribble us a poem of precisely 44 words, not counting the title, and using some form of the word jar. Then head out into the blogosphere to visit some of the finest poets on the ’net. And don’t forget: the Quadrille door is ajar all week, and multiple poems are welcome!
Here’s some music inspiration from Paul McCartney’s Medicine Jar
Or perhaps a jar of dirt, ala Captain Jack Sparrow?
And hey, before you go, grab a Cookie…

Good evening all, and thank you De for hosting. I’m looking forward to a jarful of poems.
Hi, Kim! Happy you’re here! 🙂 Happy poeming!
Helloooo, poets! Welcome to the Pub. The cookie jar is wide open, and I’m serving up some killer lemonade in mason jars. Happy poeming!
Thank you for hosting De. Love the Q word, jar. Would love some of that lemonade in mason jars.
Coming right up, Grace.
Thank you De.
Hello De and All. Great starting word for a poem. Lemonade in a mason jar sounds just right. One please (feel free to spike if you want.)
Happy to spike that for you, Lisa. 😉

My jar is ajar for you! Let me know if you have problems getting into Substack.
Happy to see you here. After a false start or two, I got in again this week. Thanks.
😁
Good Evening – Dee thanks for hosting! A jar is a jar until you fill it with poetry then it becomes a preserve.
Oooo. I like that, Truedessa. 🙂
Sorry looks like I added an extra e to your name.
This is a good prodding to read The Bell Jar again.
I love that Morley quote.
It is, indeed!
Please may I have fresh mint in my lemonade, whimzy? 🫙
Of course! I think I will join you.
Cheers, Whimsy!

Hello De and thank you for opening up Pandora’s Jar of Delights – I can’t resist a Quadrille, and this one was full of cookies.
Which I will take with a glass of cold milk, for reasons that may become clear when you inspect my outcome, along with the elusive Fern-Owl of Suffolk, UK.
Now to read some of the other gems, including the examples in your enticing post. Thank you!
Yay! Heading over soon! Cheers!
Hi De, I’m late to the quadrille party with its jars of poetic goodies, but I brought one of my own. Thank you for the prompt!
Hi, Merril! That’s the cool thing about the Q; late to the party is never an issue! I’ve put out more snacks. 😉
Yum. 😊
